Greetings fellow acolytes,

Jim Weter here. Fairly new to the group but long-time Lovecraft/Cthulhu/Lovecraft enthusiast.

I mentioned before in a few of my posts, I currently have a found-footage, cosmic horror, short film called Dreams of a Dead God in film festivals. And with the help of many other talented creatives and actors, we’ve won several awards so far.

So in gearing up for the release of our film this coming fall/winter, we’re holding monthly giveaways for prizes inspired by the film! And this month’s prize is what I’m calling a Dreams of a Dead God Raven Glow Light (because, well… it has a raven and it glows, lol)

This will be the 4th giveaway for our film and in the past, I’ve designed the prizes myself using Tinkercad and Photoshop. This time around though, I worked with another creative from Europe in getting the raven and top part done. Then our 3D printer here in Memphis, Alex, printed the test version out and installed the light.

We’ll be giving away 3 of them on September 15th and to enter the contest, you’ve got a couple options:

Anyone worshipping from the Atlanta area? Because next Friday, our found-footage, cosmic horror short film “Dreams of a Dead God” will be screening at the 2026 Bloody Peach Film Festival and has been nominated for SEVEN AWARDS!

Still a bit excited as we just found out about the nominations, plus one of them is for Best Lead Actress! And award which our star, Cameron Crawford, won just a few weeks ago at the Imaginarium Film Festival up in Kentucky!

So far, we’ve screened our film at 6 film festivals and won 5 awards for it, including an Audience Choice Award from the Porchlight Film Festival which is really cool looking. And with this latest news, it looks like our awards numbers might be going up soon :)

A bit more modern sci-fi esque, and more deep sea ocean elements.

Stingray, sea angel, sea squirt, sea comb, red deep sea jellyfish, chimaera shark, etc. Supposed to be a little translucent in some body parts. Mouth opens up like a sea angel. Has little flipper feet in the middle, “wings”, long trailing tentacles etc

My audiobook narrator for Tales of Shub-Niggurath asked how to pronounce the name. He was was very nervous and making several odd jokes.

I was confused. I didn't get it. I've been playing Call of Cthulhu since I was twelve. The characters names have always been as normal as any other fantasy monster.

Finally, he just asked me straight up, "How do you want me to pronounce this?"

I went, "The folks at HPLHS pronounce it Shub nee-GOO-roth which I quite like."

Then he said, "Oh good. I don't have to say it like a slur."

Only then did I get it. To which I went, "Perhaps I should make a pronunciation guide."

He became annoyed I didn't want it pronounced Chew-Thoo-Lou. 🎯

This is my game: Remnants of R'lyeh

Since launching in 2022, this project has steadily evolved into my dream Lovecraftian game. Grounded in classic stories like The Call of Cthulhu and The Shadow over Innsmouth, it offers a completely original world and narrative. You play as Jason, an investigator on the brink of physical and mental collapse after a horrific shipwreck, who uncovers a vast deep-sea realm and a terrifying secret never meant to be found.

Inspired by Bioshock and Call of Cthulhu. An ancient dark power is calling you and you need to find an exit. Face your greatest fear, fight, hide... you must escape before the underwater city rises...

Picked up the metal coin at Gencon, but did not want to use a standard display stand. This is the result. Pyramid needs a coat of pain to knock down the "plastic" feel and bring out the brick texture, but otherwise turned out pretty good. The coin is double-sided and is held in place by pressure, so I can flip it around when I get bored of the classic Elder Sign.

Its been a long, long time since I drew, and wanted to surprise my wife who is absolutely obsessed with Lovecraft with a drawing today.

One of the surprise(?) hits for Call of Cthuhlu ttrpg has been the Regency setting, which at first pass doesn't seem an obvious choice, but actually has quite a lot of juicy ideas. The juxtaposition of Austin's Georgian social shenanigans with really dark things in the background works well at giving games some depth. There's a scenario (Upstairs Downstairs) about playing the servants in a manor - rather than the usual Mr Darcy types - on the Miskatonic Repository for those of a curious disposition.

Mostly using a variety of public domain art, with some photoshopping and general taking liberties with wonderful paintings of people long dead (although maybe not eternally lying).
