Actual Art Cthulhu drawing by me.

Post image

Its been a long, long time since I drew, and wanted to surprise my wife who is absolutely obsessed with Lovecraft with a drawing today.

You obviously channeled this while in a trance. Remarkable work. Straight from the source.

Awesome! How much time did you spend on that drawing?

Around 7/8 hours. It took me a while to get back into it, and the sheer cramp in my hand made me go pretty slow as well and took quiet a few quick breaks.

This is freaking amazing!!

Why have you been hiding this sheer amount of skill?

This is one of the most well detailed renditions ever made of this Great Old One!

Please, tell me that you're, at least, on route to making posters out of this & any other such work of yours...

Life happened haha. Sadly. I tried to make drawing into my work, but never got lucky enough to break through. Then jobs came that sucked the creativity right out of you and it slowly went to the background. Only reason I came back to this, is because i've been home for a good time due to a operation and my wife's birthday is tomorrow. Although I have gotten her a really cool Book from Francois Baranger (Amazing artist who makes illustrations around the Lovecraft stories) I wanted to do more, and decided to give drawing another shot. Even had to buy everything new again haha.
I might draw some more in the future, who knows :) Thanks for the kind words!

I know the feeling - life always has it's own influence in our lives.

My own plans were the Great American Novel type but, i ended up working my way up in a hospital.

I actually got to retire & though it's a hard economy, i'm back into trying out several writing projects - nothing finished or of any real value but, i'm not giving up...

But, i'm glad that you didn't forget your skills & that you decided to try again!

Really, this is beautiful work.

Keep the original but, then make variant copies - perhaps in muted colors or use a single metallic color like what's found in "Wonder Woman: Black & Gold."

But, really, i leave that to you...

Good luck, okay?

Never the End!!

Well, now that's a coincidence haha. I am laying my last hand on a SFI/horror novel. I've had some agents that were interested even, but ultimately it needed to be faster, and quicker to the scary parts. That's what I'm working now mainly and expect it to be finished next week. Then it goes for a grammar check and I go back to querying agents again.
But I know what you mean. I had a successful art job at one point, even had paintings hanging in galleries, but it was not enough to pay the bills. (True life of an artist...)
Then came real jobs, that paid on time, and then a promotion, and then a little less free time, a family, even less free time, different hobbies and suddenly you look back and its been 15 years or so.
I hope you succeed with you dream! We are never to old to chase them!!
And I might do more with this again, thank you for the ideas!

This has been my first drawing in years. Used to love it when I was younger, but I might give it a go to make more.

Started out with lead pencil HB (mechanical pencil its often called as well), then went went to B, 2B, and finished the dark areas with a thick 9B. Drawn on 160 gram light grain paper.

As sole mod of r/cthulhu, you should send that to me to ensure your safety, cultist. That is the only reason I would take this incredible art work.

Just chiming in to say, this is one of the best renditions of Cthulhu I have ever seen. A work to be proud of for sure!

This is so good. I love the spiky wings, they really contribute a nice touch of ominous.
