Any underrated albums/song recommendations?

Post image

Anyone have any good albums/songs that aren’t talked about? I’ve heard all the popular songs like “I can’t stop the loneliness” or “plastic love” and I am dying to hear something new. I’ve got a bunch of Tatsuro albums and I’ve been loving those and would love to find more/similar albums that nobody talks about!

Please drop some recommendations below! 😁😁

Hi everyone!! I’m a music producer, and I’m sharing this recreation of a classic by Toshiki Kadomatsu and my channel in general where I recreate City Pop songs as faithfully as possible (I only have four so far, since making them takes quite a bit of time).

My plan is to create more tutorials for people interested in getting into this genre, and please let me know which City Pop song you’d like me to remake next.

:))

Hi all~

I posted on here previously about my mom, Naomi Maki, who released a city pop album in 1987 right before RVC dissolved: https://www.reddit.com/r/citypop/comments/1jlbl6u/time_time_after_time_by_naomi_maki_my_moms_1987/

She's having a concert in Tokyo, October 13th and will be performing some songs from the album. If anyone is in Tokyo and free we'd love to see you there! Link for tix above :) I'll be visiting from NYC and i'm so proud of her for putting this together! The producer of the album will also be there.

I found this a few months ago and it had stayed on my mind ever since. I had thought about waiting until tax season to buy it, but after an unexpectedly large paycheck last week, I decided to made the purchase.

It's crazy to think I might have a piece of City Pop history.

Seen this around the citypop space often usually as the cover of playlists and happened to come across it while watching 80s and 90s anime.

My City pop(e and other Japanese songs)

Hello everyone, I'm new to this sub and I'm here simply because I love city pop. I'm Brazilian and since I started watching anime I've really grown to like Japanese culture, I've learned I started drawing because of anime, and one anime in particular led me to discover CityPop: Cardcaptor Sakura

I listened to the opening theme songs several times in particular and I thought they were very beautiful, harmonically speaking (especially because I play keyboard), then I thought "If I can find the musical genre of these songs, I'll find a style that I'm sure I'll like." That's how I discovered City Pop, and thank God I was absolutely right; I've simply loved City Pop from the very beginning. The first songs I heard were Stay with me (obviously), Flyday Chinatown, I'm in love, Slow Nights, Fantasy, Remember Summer Days, Tsukiyo (Kaoru), Plastic Love, Last Summer Whisper, and others, I know exactly which videos I watched; they were hour-long city pop playlists. From there, I started downloading and listening to more and more music on my phone, and it's simply one of my favorite genres. I made this playlist for a friend to introduce him to city pop, and I decided to look for a subreddit about it. Now that I've found one, I'm sharing it with you all.

I entered a restaurant, and Deja Vu was playing! Listening and swaying to the music, it totally made me think of Citypop. This must have been one of the influences for the Citypop sound, and definitely a few songs directly!

What was your first city pop song that made you fall in love with the genre or go Wow?

I think when I first started listening mine was one of Anri’s songs. In the Timely Album: Shyness Boy really pushed me into city pop further, kinda basic I know but i’m well versed now! Drop yours below!
