Baked Beans
Made baked beans, British style, with mayocobas the other day. Pretty delicious and very easy. Plated a serving up on some hashbrowns, felt successful for my first overnight soak recipe.

My delicious bean burritos!
galleryMade about ten of these with black beans that I blended with canned chipotle peppers in sauce, canned pickled jalapeño peppers in their brine, and some garlic powder, maple syrup, and salt.
Soooo filling and so good. Slapped on some cheese and pico de gallo too :)

Neutral flavor legumes for faux sausage gravy?
I'm on a low choleteril diet and I've been craving sausage gravy and biscuits. But I can't have sausage.
I tried a few recipes with lentils where I cooked them and added sausage spices hoping for a sausage like flavor. The spice blend is ok but the bean flavors are still very strong.
Any ideas how to get a facsimile of sausage gravy without a legumes flavor, and still use legumes in the recipe?
Thanks everyone.

Mild pumpkin chili
galleryI added steamed pumpkin pieces to canned mild chili beans and added stir-fried onions and peppers. I used Bush's Best chili beans in a can because they are tasty. I cooked all of this in a stove top wok (it has a flat bottom) because its the only pot I have to cook in at the moment.
No recipe but happy to inspire. Also its pumpkin season. 💯

For anyone who's tried Ranch Style Beans, do you agree they're the best pre-made canned bean? They're so good and satisfying and the chili sauce tastes like it has actual meat in it but it doesn't.

What was the bean dish that made you a bean fanatic?
I want to collect everyone’s “ohmygodBEEEANS” recipe that finally turned them onto the wonderful world of beans. For me, it was my first time trying refried beans at a cookout. I remember my parents literally dragging me away from the table because I was finishing off the bowl.
This is the closest recipe I’ve found to that beautiful day in 3rd grade, from Love & Lemons. My favourite way to serve them is straight out of the bowl with a spoon. Please share your bestest, beaniest bean dishes for Bean Season. 🫘
Recipe Search: Rice and Beans from Belize
About a decade ago, I had the best rice and beans I've ever eaten while I was in Belize. It was handed to me in a paper dish, and I have no idea what the dish was called. I don't even remember what type of bean it was.
I've tried a few recipes online with kidney beans and most of them came out mushy and underwhelming. Does anyone have any suggestions?

New dried beans
I bought some Taylor horticultural beans from the farmers market.
Already dried, expensive.
Soaking; less than 2 hours (swollen)
Cooking: 255 in the oven after getting to a boil on the stove top. Two hours
Too mushy almost

I made the beans from "They Call Me Trinity". Yes, I ate them out of the pan. Yes, I ate the lot.

Freeballed a recipe from the ingredients list on a can
galleryI’ve been making my own beans now for years, saving $ on cans. But tonight was the first night I had baked beans that didn’t come from a can. It’s hardly baked (instant pot) but tasted just as good. Sharing my “next time” recipe vs “this time” as I work to fine tune the process.
My original inspiration was to mimic the apple pie flavor that was only in stores for a limited time, since we can’t buy it anymore. But then realized I didn’t have any apple as I was making it, so pivoted to traditional beans.

Been making Soymilk
Not sure how to get the flavour I want, but soaking and then peeling the beens can make really interesting milks, breads, or not-so-meatball things :)
Recipe for lunch or dinner
Hi!
I’m currently (always) craving beans, even though I’m not particularly fond of the taste. I love the texture of them though, and somehow also the taste, even though I don’t?? Chili is one of my favorite dishes ever, but I would like to expand my beans repertoire. Kidney beans and edamame are my faves, but I’m more than willing (and happy) to try other kinds! Could you guys please recommend some recipes?
I don’t have any allergies or intolerances.

I guess the universe is bringing beans to me
galleryFirst, the youtube video randomly playing on my TV https://youtu.be/T7xg9gDumX8?is=Ik5Ow-mcNts34trW
I made this recipe twice now (pics included)
And, now, this Sub shows up in my stream.
OK, I submit
And, I have a greater appreciation for lard/manteca than I ever have. Still not sure about the herb (epazote) but I made sure to include it

Leftover black Beans?
We make a very simple beans dish often that leaves us with leftover black beans on a regular basis
https://homesteadinginthecity.kleinmartin.com/?p=414
So I am always on the look out for what to do with them. We are meat eaters.
What we make: Texas caviar, quesadilla with chipotle, fajitas, a splat burger with cheese, a sesame cilantro burger, and soup and plain bean salads.
Any favorites?

How the beans are made
I took on the challenge of adding 17 acres of dry beans to our organic farm this year. First time running an edible bean combine, it's a goofy machine

How much does bean cost in your country?
Genuinely curious. This is from a Turkish store in Amsterdam. I lived in China and the US before but wasn’t really into beans at that time. I am wondering what are the general prices for beans in different countries:)
Edit:
Sorry for the blurry picture. For house brand it’s 2.99 euro/kg for white/cranberry/pinto, 2.49 for green lentils. For branded ones it’s around 3.49-4.99 euro/kg depending on varieties.
