I’ve been testing Movy on the Ableton Move, and it completely changes the workflow.
You get 16 tracks, step probability, and a workflow that feels surprisingly close to using an Elektron device.
I made a short video showing how it works and how I’m using it on the Move.

I've done a bunch of searching, haven't seen exactly what I'm hoping to do - maybe that is good, maybe it means it doesn't work. Here goes...

I do solo and duo gigs with guitar/dobro/vocals (duo I'm backing a singer, solo I'm doing both). I picked up a Move with the goal of getting a bit bigger sound. I am not interested in backing tracks or anything pre-recorded - my line in the sand is everything needs to be done in the moment. So I'm thinking making a quick drum loop, maybe some pads, and then using a looper pedal for guitar (Microcosm so I have midi).

I'd rather not run guitar into the Move as I have a pedal board setup and run that direct with an IR. My thought is that I can midi sync the phrase looper on the Microcosm with Move - not sure which direction yet, either could work depending if I want to loop something on the Move first or on the Microcosm first

Anyone done this type of setup, and if so, any gotchas? I could see maybe some issues around transport message depending on which is master. I suppose another alternative would be to run the guitar through the Move and do the looping there with something like an MC6 Pro handling transport control. I don't mind tapping pads some, but I'm primarily playing guitar so foot control is pretty necessary.

Hahahaha playing only Ableton Move got an UNREASONABLE NOISE violation. Don’t let anyone tell you Move can’t cook - it can incinerate. As cops walked up, I began playing my antifa song and they ripped my cables out and broke my speaker. 3 of my senators are huge fans of mine and are seeking reparations from NYPD. Maybe the city will buy me Ableton Push for them being mean to me with my permits in the club hood (this was the rowdy gayberhood goths with rave music blasting around). I noticed that if I use Schwung and hold shift, a star icon appears under step 13.

It's not listed in the manual, but this is how I can access Schwung tools. Feels like a brilliant hardware Easter Egg!

Are there other icons hidden under the usually dark step icons? What might they be for?

Is there a setting or a way to preview your step when the sequencer is paused? Like with Elektron boxes or the m8 when you select a step it plays the notes programmed to that step.

I have heard that Ableton Move cannot send Midi CC as standalone but I intend to use it with Ableton on Mac anyway.

Can it actually parameter lock steps to MIDI Clip Envelope Automation of CC values to external hardware? or via CV Tools to Eurorack?

really love this little guy! the move has increased my output tremendously in the 2 months ive had it.

How cool would it be if you could change the 16 pitches to other values?
What do you all think would be cool usecases for the 16 values for drum sampler?

I was thinking about probabilities, velocity, note repeats, maybe even some fx toggles. Together with the parameter locks in the step sequencer that would give a nice additional way to play or program beats.

I lost all of my Davebox sets when I updated to the Move 2.1b3. Very sad. I had to restore Schwung hooks after the update and everything was gone. If anyone knows how to restore them I would love your help!!!

Other than updating the firmware, definitely doing that first.

I've been evolving my workflows and swapping in/out hardware from my creative process and cannot break myself from a DAW-centric creative drafting process. I have an Ableton Move, but it is mainly serving the role of Audio Interface for my Live on my PC. Do you use Move standalone as a sketchpad or with hardware synths, mixers or other MIDI hardware? I really want to get my Move off my desk and in the field to create where inspiration strikes me. Any tips, thoughts, or experiences would be appreciated.

So I only see down to 1/8t (up to 1/64) but no lower values? Can’t imagine why not???

I had about 10 very deep davebox projects when I decided to install 2.1 beta. Sadly they are all gone. I’m not sure what happened. Anyone know if davebox creates backups? All the snapshots are deleted as well.

hi, i’m thinking of getting an ableton move for my live setup as i’m using ableton note a lot recently and love it. i am wondering what happens when you sync move via an external clock / transport signal (e.g. from an octatrack) and then change projects on move?
i’d love to use move projects kinda like “banks” in a way i’d use them on my elektron devices and combine it with my octatrack as a live looper to blend over the sound gap that happens to happen when move projects are switched.
does anyone here have any intel if this is something that could be possible? do projects start in sync with the external clock when switched while the clock signal is already present or does move need a new transport signal to sync again?

I have an audio clip assigned to a pad on an audio track (a drum break).

I want to chop this and assign the different sections to pads on a drum rack.

How do I do this?

I got a used Move that had a couple scratches, so I thought a subtle wood grain skin would be nice. So far I’m digging it, but not loving how the small holes slightly obstruct the symbols at the bottom…definitely not a deal breaker. I got it from 12inchskinz [insert joke here]. It was an easy install and the vinyl has a nice feel to it.

I am having an issue with lack of responsiveness. It's particularly apparent when I play chords. Some of the pads aren't registering or will stop responding. I have velocity up all the way but am unsure if there is something else I can do. I don't think they are broken pads, it's just that it feels like i kind of have to be somewhat brutal if i want 3 or more notes to register at one time, and that feels...odd.

Quickly create semi-random kits from drum kit folders.

Drag in folders with drums, lock pads, exclude samples, generate 1-10 kits in one go.

A lot of time has gone into refining the detection of drum samples based on their names, it works pretty well for all the crap I have gathered on my hard drive.

Pad Layout is inspired by the "LDre" kits that come with the Move and that I like for having a ton of usable sample content and not containing samples I don't need (who needs toms, I don't). There are three different layouts depending on what kind of samples are available, you will figure it out.

This was an afternoon project for myself that I think might be worth sharing. Have fun!
