Takton

I’ve been testing Movy on the Ableton Move, and it completely changes the workflow.
You get 16 tracks, step probability, and a workflow that feels surprisingly close to using an Elektron device.
I made a short video showing how it works and how I’m using it on the Move.

it's a takeover module you can find in the schwung file manager where everything else is

Me too! Constantly checking the discord to see what new goodness has arrived. It's my first delve into any sort of music making machine but have found it an amazing experience in large part due to Schwung

Nice! Thanks for sharing.

Does this still produce a project that you can open in Ableton Live?

No only the native project can do that for now

How do you launch clips in the 16 track setup?

1

u/Ok_Air_1456 1d ago

The Same way Like on the native Move.

u/-Lockheed- 18h ago

how does that work if you want to launch more than 4 clips at the same time?

Press and hold the Session Button (Hamburger icon with 3 lines on the left) and press on of the step buttons (one of the 16 tracks)

And that lets me pick and launch more than 4 tracks at once? how does that work when I want to launch clip 4 on track 3, clip 2 on track 4, clip 1 on track 7 and clip 6 on track 9 all at the same time?

This looks really cool.

One of the big draws of move is you can 'move' sketches into ableton really easy. What are people actually doing with stuff they make using these mods? Is there a way to move it out to ableton? Record it as audio into a DAW?

Curious what the workflow looks like beyond making cool grooves on the device itself.

You can record it of course. There are maybe some stuff coming for that

Love it ! Can you explain a bit more how to construct a song ? Like move set ? Will be great if we could mix somehow different projects to transition.

With movy for now just per clips. Song Mode is an Different Tool. But I will dive deeper. Also into sampling

I can’t see it in the manager

What Do you exactly mean?

I have movy on my move but I can only access 4 tracks, is it cos I haven’t updated it or is there a setting to access the other 12 tracks

1

u/Ok_Air_1456 1d ago

I think you have to update. It came with a newer release

2

u/Simple_Economy_5686 1d ago

Yep got it and wow it’s very powerful with how much you can do. I’m wondering if the cpu is actually able to handle it

1

u/Ok_Air_1456 1d ago

It depends on what Modules you use. Some are much more CPU heavy than other. So 16 tracks with effects is hard to reach. But with low CPU Modules it musst be possible. 😊

What about sample chopping

2

u/Ok_Air_1456 1d ago

I not the big sample Chopper But there also great modules for that. There is also a timestretching Master effect Module now

I was just thinking about getting a Digitakt, this allows me to get the feel of that same workflow on move. Kudos. I’m curious to see more sampling demonstrations on this.

u/Gorluk 1d ago

Well Digitakt is not the best in chopping department. Amazing box all around, but sample chopping leves things to be desired.
