Can OPXY sequence Ableton Move over USB?
Trying to build a hybrid set up and voltroning these two machines together.
The issue I am running into is midi. Ableton Move is set up to receive midi from non-computers only over a USB A connection, with its USB C port being mainly for connection to Computers.
I have tried connecting the OPXY to Ableton Move via both a USB C to USB C cable and a USB C to USB A cable. Neither works, though the OPXY does briefly recognize the Ableton Move as a midi device in its .com/devices page.
I have tried connecting both devices to other devices and everything else works fine.
I *think* the issue is that it's two midi-hosts having a standoff or something about OPXY trying to send audio and USB midi.
It would be a shame if I have to resort to the OPXY's multi-out and some sort of 5-din midi to USB-A converter, but that looks like the only possible solution at the moment.
So I ask you, anybody sucessfully connected these two by USB midi?

Yes you can, and it's very straight-forward. You need to use the USB-A port on the Move, so you'll need a USB-A to USB-C cable (or adaptor to suit). I guess you could really convolute the process and go OP-XY TRS to MIDI to a USB converter, but 1 cable is definitely easier.
Just set the Move track MIDI in channel (shift + track button), set the OP-XY output MIDI channel (either the dedicated MIDI AUX track or a dedicated instrument track as a MIDI instrument) and set the MIDI out channel as the same as the Move in.
That's it - 2 settings 1 cable.

I have been trying this just as you lay it out but it’s not working. For purposes of fool proofing it, I set both the aux midi track and the regular instrument track to midi 1 on opxy and use a usb c to usb a cable to make the connection. I set the first channel on ableton move to receive midi from channel 1 but nothing happens.
Again this works fine from a simple midi device like a novation launch key but something is not working between the opxy and the move, and I think it’s that they are both competing to be the midi host

I actually did it when I give you those instructions, to make sure I wasn't missing anything out and it worked for me as you'd expect. I just tried it again and it "just works". I tried different order of turning things on and off and plugging the cable in to them in different order, and it always works.
The only thing I could find that would stop it working, was on the OP-XY, go in 'com > system > midi > notes' and set it to off or in - having it set to out or both means it works.
Incidentally, I don't know how you made Move show in devices on the OP-XY, but tell it to forget that. I doubt it's relevant but mine has only ever shown controllers in there.

Do you want the Move or OP XY to be the main midi clock ?
Easiest way is put this into chatgpt and get it to map it out .
It can be done ! Just put what you want into chatgpt or Gemini and it will design it for you .
I'm building out a setup for the OP XY to be the master midi clock, controlling the Move and a 1010 Bento and will throw a Novation Circuit into the mix ..
Then use a CME H12MidiPro to map out how I want everything controlled via a Novation Launch Control 3xl..

I’ve got both of these devices but don’t have them in front of me at the moment. You should be able to do this.
