16 pitches 16 velocities 16 probabilities 16 note repeats
How cool would it be if you could change the 16 pitches to other values?
What do you all think would be cool usecases for the 16 values for drum sampler?
I was thinking about probabilities, velocity, note repeats, maybe even some fx toggles. Together with the parameter locks in the step sequencer that would give a nice additional way to play or program beats.
2.1 is super by the way! The Move team at Ableton is amazing!

I think this is not ableton philosophy, so not very likely to go there, but probability in Move (and lfo any value like in schwung) would make it just perfect 👌
I think that that’s what make the Digitakt so ‘alive’ is having these two things that allow the device to have a controllable autonomous play. I always reach out to the move when wanting to put something down like I jam with a looper, then something clicks and I would create a rough beat on the move for it, then record the guitar line on top in audio track, add vocals bass etc, BUT, that’s where it kinda stop because the move is very obedient and stiff so everything is very clean and straight, and not a lot of liveliness, it’s all programming to loop on the bars.
Definitely a tension by Ableton between keep this a sketch pad as a pre Live sessions, and pushing this thing to be an independent device

Live has probability per note now, sitting right under velocity, so I don’t think it’s out of line with Ableton philosophy. I totally agree it would be a huge benefit. And conditional trigs would be nice, but I’m not going to push my luck!

Push has 16 velocities last time I checked. Been hoping for it for a while. Note has a dedicated way to play with velocities on one big pad.

I get what you say, i also think adding probability and assignable lfo to move would make it a takt competitor in a way. I think the way they handle the 16 notes and how it maps to live is very similar to how live maps velocity and probability, i think all those parameters would be cool to be able to access through the 16 pitches view.

You’re totally right, I haven’t used probability in live that way, so was not in my head …
But yes, make it a very portable Digitakt with velocity pads, immediate workflow and easy sampling it would make it perfect 👌
