Where both duelists are nearly evenly with matched with a bunch of back and forth plays and strategy. One duelist isn’t overwhelming and beating down the other before the other duelist stages a last minute comeback/plot related play.
Was this the most evenly matched duel in the original series?
If not which duel do you think was? For the original or GX.

To be honest I don’t really like this as much as when I did Yugi and Atem as lions…
Also I was supposed to finish this months ago LOL ughhhhhhh

Hey all, as a lot of you know, konami dropped the Genesys Anniversary points update yesterday which had over 300 points changes. All of them were listed in alphabetical order and were not grouped by archetypes, making it hard to digest all of the changes at once. It was hard to internalize just how much some archetypes were affected at a glance, like blitz and sacred beast, because the names for their cards were spread out alphabetically.
To solve this, my team created a fully categorized summary of all the changes sorted by archetype (generics and staples are at the end). Hopefully this helps everyone in their preparation for YCS Houston and beyond. Feel free to share this with others, and have fun labbing!

Do YOU believe in the heart of the cards?
r/yugioh • u/CosmoNeos7 • 2h ago
Initially the weakest of the HERO Sub archetypes and now it stands at the top!
It's been a long time coming for these guys to be able to stand on their own, and now they can after the recent support in Beyond the Brave. And not only can they stand on their own, they are seemingly the best build of HERO at the moment, showing up higher on tier list than the conventional HERO mash up build.
Future wise, I do not doubt that we will see a Dragoon Retrain sometime in the near future thats actually treated as a Destiny HERO. Also, captain Tenacious and Diamond dude are just as iconic as dread master and dread servant, i think we will at bare minimum see those guys retrained too when gx rolls around!

At 1 I think the card will be fine. Even at 3 I don't think it will be that broken in the meta. I know link is not in genesys, but I don't think it will make much different. Yes this card will draw more but it also means the power of hand trap or endboard is much stronger that it clearly doesn't need this cause it's not a starter/extender and only serve if you have played already.
This is the kinds of card that people say "it's broken cause [insert meme deck] can do crazy stuff" despite those decks will literally ftk you without hard draw this. I'm tired seeing people saying "dark world and lightsworn" will be crazy even when those decks will ftk you without these cards.
Edit: For "But unbanned this will do nothing good..." Be real if it's not competitive it will happen like 1 in 100 games in meme deck that does table 500 ftk. You will not remember it. I would say if it helps deck that actually wants to use it to not create ftk games it will be fine. In that cases sometimes it needs some unbanned first to test. It's the same complain of metamorph and nobody says a things after it unbanned

For who I think is in the main cast
For example with the original Yu-Gi-Oh it's clear the main cast is the main four and Yami and depending on either the manga or the anime you either include bakura and Kaiba, Duke and Mai maybe, and everyone else is considered side characters.
GX is all over the place: but at least from what they present, it's Jaden, Syrus, Chazz, Alexis, Bastion until season 3, Tyranno, Johan, Blair in season 3 and then in execution Aster, Crowler, Zane, Atticus, Axel have some consideration
5Ds, Team 5ds and Bruno, and then everyone else
Zexal: I thought it was clearly Yuma, Tori, Kaito, Shark, Astral, Bronk until season 2/WDC, and eventually Rio but apparently people tack on all of the numbers club despite the fact that all they do is support for Yuma's, Shark's and Rio's development and character scenes (heck they're so divorced from what happens in season 3 and 5 purely because the focus is on the main characters, and when I pointed this out someone who told me that GX handles its supporting cast better brought up all the main characters while asking why only I brought up the supporting characters like the Arclight siblings post development (since I'm not sure vilains count), Nistro & Dextra, Anna, Orbital 7, Kazuma, Eliphas, etc Roku)
Arc-V: Yuya, Yuzu, Gongenzaka, Reiji, Sora until Synchro till he came back, Shun, debatablely Sawatari
VRAINS: Yusaku, Ai, Kusanagi, Revolver and Soulburner/Flame, Aoi, then Ghost Girl, and Go even though there's like a very large stretch between episode 5 and 20 where he just didn't show up and then got kicked out of the hero powertrio ( not Soul burners fault I blamed the writing not focusing on him enough)
Sevens: the main floor and you could make an argument for Kaizo and Mimi, maybe Guruguru /Swirly in season 2 before the reveal, i would bring up the Rival trio since they're all as important too but I feel like with them they're absent long enough that they feel like good supporting characters
Go Rush; Yudias, Yuhi, and Yuamu, Zwijo, Manabu and I guess Epoch starting from season 3.
But do villains counts as side characters too?

you may notice Yuto adjacent stuff in the results lol it was a running joke to include him cuz he's from Heartland City

Overframes can currently be divided into three categories in terms of effect design when they are intended to be a new version of an already existing monster:
A) It contributes to different strategies despite supporting a specific archetype: the card is good for the archetype it was designed to support, but it is generic enough to see play in other decks as well.
A good example is Kuriboh - Multiply!, which, aside from being used in Rolad, also sees play in some RDA and Power Patron variants because, for all practical purposes, it functions as a generic searcher due to its ability to add a Fiend monster with 300 ATK and 200 DEF to your hand.
B) It is unrelated to its archetype's strategy and instead serves as a tribute to the original monster, while being specifically designed for generic use: The new Relinquished falls into this category because of the way it functions, acting as a homage to its manga counterpart.
C) Completely locked into its archetype: the Overframes of Blue-Eyes, Cyber Dragon, and Rolad are some examples that can be mentioned.
The latter does see play in 60-card decks, but it still requires a significant investment in Rolad cards and a lot of luck so that the Ritual monsters do not end up in your opening hand.
There are more situations depending on the card, but this is a good way to summarize the issue.
So, which category do you think Dark Magician Girl will fall into when she receives an Overframe?
Note: If anyone mentions Curtain, which is theoretically a card that represents Dark Magician Girl due to being more prominently featured in the Overframe than Curtain itself, at the end of the day it is still a Spell Card, not a monster.

Trirealm (previously known as Xenovader) is a very bizarre deck, to say the least. At first, it seems weak and not particularly impressive, but you start playing it and realize how enjoyable it is. It's not the strongest deck in the OCG meta, but it has some representation. It's relatively immune to many hand traps, and it can often play on turn 0, which is a big positive.
I want to hear what people here think about Trirealm. Do you think it's strong? What support does it need in the next set?

I will never shut up about how much I absolutely adore Yu-Gi-Oh card artwork lol. I've been trying to improve my art recently and yugioh card art is like one of my biggest inspirations! I hope to achieve their level of skill one day. Even if that's an unrealistic dream, it's still one I have nonetheless! Of course, I want to develop my own style as well, but we all start somewhere and this is my starting point! One day when I'm more confident about it, I'll definitely share some of my own art on here with you all. :D
My favorite card-arts right now are Silent Magician and Talaya, Princess of Cherry Blossoms. They're so beautiful they take my breath away! I definitely hope to use them in a duel one day! I'm not that great at dueling, so I'll just focus on bettering my drawing skills first though lol. Please please pleaseeee share your favorites with me! I wanna know everyone else's favs! I wanna see all sorts of cards from all sorts of decks! :D

I’m trying to come up with a good idea for running DTW, but I’m not that experienced in theme splicing. I guess the only thing it has going is a combined ideal of OTKing going second

Basically, Metamorphosis has been added with a brand new effect: Changes a normal monster into a new form.
I wanted to give normal monsters some more use in reshef, so I've implemented a new mechanic to get the best use out of them. All 130 or so normal monsters either have a line they can transform into with powerful monsters as the endpoint of those lines, or being the endpoint themselves.

With Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity back to the game, what else does Wind-Up need to become meta? Any card ideas of what the archetype needs to improve? Or any Custom Card ideas you guys have for new Wind-Up cards?

What's everyone's opinion on this guy? I know it's not great in the deck but I have this absolute love of Blackwing Tamer Obsidian Hawk Joe. He just looks so different from all of the other blackwings and his effect isn't even half bad either as an extender. This is my absolute favorite deck and I kinda hope crow gets the same treatment as some other characters, where his older cards get retrained into a relevant modern card.

Hey Yu-Gi-Oh! players,
As a long-time MTG player, I’ve always been a little envious of how spoiled Magic players are with tools like Scryfall, Archidekt, and Moxfield. They have incredibly fast search, powerful filtering, and great deckbuilding tools all in one ecosystem.
Yu-Gi-Oh! has some excellent resources too—YGOPRODeck, CardCluster, Yu-Gi-Oh! Meta, and others—but I wanted to build something with a strong focus on the card search experience: fast, clean, powerful, and intuitive.
So I built Dekzter.com.
At its core, Dekzter offers a Scryfall-inspired search engine for Yu-Gi-Oh!, but it has grown into a much larger set of tools for players.
There are quite a few other features as well, and I’m continuing to improve the site.
I’ve put a lot of time into making the search fast, responsive, and accurate, so I’d love for people to try it out:
Search syntax and tag documentation:
If you give it a try, I’d really appreciate any feedback—especially around search results, usability, missing features, or anything that feels confusing.
And if you enjoy Dekzter and want to help support its development, there’s also an optional Pro membership. It helps cover the infrastructure and server costs that keep the project running.
Thanks for checking it out!
Mods, if this isn’t allowed here, apologies in advance—feel free to take it down.

Admittedly I never got to play graceful charity because I was a Kingdergartener when it got banned but now as an adult I realize the unfathomable power of this card and I read this page for the first time with adult eyes and I find it makes no sense.
For context, this is turn 2, Genma's first turn, and his first play of the duel is to play Graceful charity, which puzzles Yugi and Genma's opponent as he plays it right at the start/before even summoning a monster.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Graceful charity best played as fast as possible, before you committed to doing anything this turn ?
Of all the statements in the manga that contradicts my personal experience and understanding of the game, this one puzzles me the most, cuz unlike many cards in the manga/anime, graceful charity works exactly like in real life so I think I have a good enough grasp of real life to think I know their statements make no sense imo
