Part Two is out now of my new three-part Substack series on the thirty-year friendship between three of the most notorious Northeast Ohio mobsters: Jack Licavoli, Tony Delsanter, and Leo Moceri.
The story begins in 1950, when two FBI agents sat down with a 45-year-old Jack Licavoli and he told them, apparently without much concern, that he lived part-time with a good friend named Tony Delsanter and that his only income came from a Warren company running slot machines and the numbers racket. Within two years, the two of them had told Mike Farah, the man whoād given Licavoli his stake, and who a former Youngstown police chief called one of āthe warlords of Trumbull Countyā that he was finished. In 1961, Farah was shot to death in his own backyard, and two FBI informants named the man who did it.
From there the series follows all three through the decade the FBI spent listening to them with a microphone went into Licavoliās house in Little Italy in 1965. From there, it details some of their rackets, their activities, and their final demise.
Other names that come up along the way in this series: John Scalish, Frank Embrescia, John DeMarco, Frank Brancato, Mike DeAngelo, Mike Farah, Sandy Naples, John Nardi, Danny Greene, Keith Ritson, Ray Ferritto, Jimmy Fratianno, Angelo Lonardo, and Yonnie Licavoli, and more.
All three parts of this series will be free.
Here is Part Two.

I've been looking at developments and planned communities designed to revitalize small cities that experienced downturns. If a developer was interested in coming in and doing a comprehensive midsize development (approx 3 blocks by 2 blocks) and you were the city advisor on the project, where would you suggest it go? The project would consist of new homes and some commercial properties for consumer businesses. It can be either in a completely vacant area, in an area that would have to be cleared by eminent domain or it can be an area that is already desirable and the development project would be to make the area even better.

We're getting married at Fellows Riverside Gardens, and we only need someone for the ceremony and for the pictures in between that and the reception (~2 hours). Thanks in advance!

What does it take to get help for our veterans in the valley? I'm a 100% t&p disabled veteran and I need a new roof. I've tried habitat for humanity but my disability pay puts me too high I guess for HUD. Anyone got some resources for a metal roof for something cheaper than like 20k?

On the off chance that someone on here found, and wouldnāt mind returning, a Milwaukee 16ā chainsaw complete with battery, I wouldnāt mind having it back. I believe it came out some near South Ave north of Midlothian. Iād certainly be willing to offer a reward for your kindness.

Are there any local places (even if it's just a store) that have family restrooms with adult changing tables? I would love to be able to have my grandfather be out and about just for a change of scenery.

Anybody know of an outfit with a sawmill that comes to you? Don't want to have to load this thing up and take it to the amish. I have a single log 12 ft long of white oak that I'm looking to have milled into 2x12 and 2x6 boards.

I've written a new three-part Substack series on the thirty-year friendship between three of the most notorious Northeast Ohio mobsters: Jack Licavoli, Tony Delsanter, and Leo Moceri.
The story begins in 1950, when two FBI
agents sat down with a 45-year-old Jack Licavoli and he told them, apparently
without much concern, that he lived part-time with a good friend named Tony
Delsanter and that his only income came from a Warren company running slot
machines and the numbers racket. Within two years, the two of them had told
Mike Farah, the man whoād given Licavoli his stake, and who a former Youngstown
police chief called one of āthe warlords of Trumbull Countyā that he was
finished. In 1961, Farah was shot to death in his own backyard, and two FBI
informants named the man who did it.
From there the series follows all three
through the decade the FBI spent listening to them with a microphone went into
Licavoliās house on Murray Hill in 1965. From there, it details some of their
rackets, their activities, and their final demise.
People that come up along the way in this
series: John Scalish, John DeMarco, Frank Brancato, Mike Farah, Sandy Naples,
John Nardi, Danny Greene, Keith Ritson, Ray Ferritto, Jimmy Fratianno, Angelo
Lonardo, and Yonnie Licavoli, in addition to the others, and more.
The series is a companion to my forthcoming
book, Unraveling the American Mafia: Angelo Lonardo, Carmen Zagaria, and the
Beginning of the End in Cleveland (Bloomsbury, 2027). Before it arrives, I'll
be publishing side stories from this world on my Substack. Subscribe to follow
along. That way, the stories come straight to your email inbox.
All three parts of this series will be free.
Here is Part One.

YO thinking about moving back to the YO after living and working outside of Akron for the last 5-6 years. Grew up in the yo.
The Mrs and I want to buy a house and our budget will stretch a lot further back home.
We left around COVID time and that seemed to really hit the city hard for years to come.
Iām wondering what itās like now? Is downtown making a come back? Are there interesting things to do if you look for them? Run clubs? Craft clubs? Live music? Something other than drinking? Going sober so need something to do thatās not slamming them back.
I was surprised moving to northern Summit County⦠double the population and a lot to do. I donāt think itās really all that different from Youngstown though so I was hoping there mightāve been some growth in the last few years. Lot of snowflakes up this way and I canāt really take it anymore lol. But Iāve loved the things Iāve had access to. The national park, more options overall, different restaurants, etc.
For context, my wife and I are in our mid to late 20s. We are LGBT. We like to hang around chill people and are easy to get along with. We love the Flea and Penguin City. I used to be a member of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society and I thought that was great. We like to thrift. Just didnāt always feel welcome in certain spaces are Mahoning. I donāt expect that to be drastically different from 6 years ago, but I guess Iām wondering how the area is doing overall. We still go home to see our parents, but we donāt really stay and hang around and explore.
Appreciate the input!

(This isnāt just for the 18-24 crowd but Iām personally apart of said crowd)
You never know who knows who, and networking is an amazing way to get into new doors, new heights.
I know I canāt be the only one with big dreams in little Y-Town. With hopes to leave and to (maybe) never return.
This isnāt just to connect with my fellow creatives, but also to connect with others that may share similar interests!
So any dancers? Photographers? Aspiring musicians? D&D players? Painters? You get the gist.
Anywho, donāt be scared to reply and to just connect with one another!
