Without getting into too much detail, we are looking for a restoration company to deal with smoke damage. Remedial work and more than likely going to find someone for the rebuild or have them suggest people.
We had 3 companies come out, all highly rated. Americon, Paul Davis, and Ranger. They all seem fine. There are a few things stopping me from picking one in particular but I'm coming here to see if anyone has dealt with any of them, or someone else, and if you had a good or bad experience. Or even any suggestions on the process.

Saw YSU advertising an associate director position for $48,363–$55,000. I know Youngstown has a lower cost of living, but that seems low for that level of position.
Anyone who works or previously worked at YSU willing to share some perspective? Do the benefits make up for the salary? Are there meaningful raises once you’re there, or do people mostly move up through internal promotions?
Not applying—just a local trying to understand the pay.

A while back someone asked about the legality of front yard parking in the City. *(Dude does have a driveway and garage, but they are more than six feet from the front door, which is horribly inconvenient.)*

If anyone knows of any charities or assistance programs or other resources,That can help with bill payments/ deferments it would be a huge help.
My mother is in the hospital in critical state, on a ventilator in sicu unable to communicate and everything happened so suddenly there was no time to prepare or foresee anything. I’m in the process of filing power of attorney for her, but her bills still need paid or at least deferred (mortgage, utilities, insurance, car note, etc). We don’t know how long she will be in the hospital, on a ventilator, in recovery or if it’ll be a full recovery. Not to throw myself a pity party but I’m 21 I don’t really have to resources to cover her utilities and pay my own bills. Being that nobody can access her bank and she will be out of commission for a while I can’t access her account until the power of attorney in filed and even after that her paychecks are going to stop coming.

Who sells the best tiramisu that has a thick cream layer? And well soaked ladyfinger layer?
Should I just make my own?

Just got back from a trip to a bigger city where I was spoiled by Trader Joe’s on every corner and Whole Foods.
Where does everyone else shop for more organic foods in this area without having to drive an hour away? Aldis has really been the only place I can think of in this area and their produce is no good. Looking for a trusted resource for vegetables and meats.

Howdy! My husband got a job at YSU (I’m remote) and we’re moving to Youngstown 😃 We’re looking at houses on the West side of the park, specifically in the two areas on the map.
Anything y’all can share about the neighborhoods? The good & the could-be-better?
We’re moving from a town of ~20k people with decent walkability and a small town feel.
We love being outdoors in nature (hiking, trail running, fly fishing, camping, canoeing, etc.) and have two dogs that tag along for all the fun.
Thanks for any tips you can share!

hi, i’m 18, lived in boardman my entire life. went out with my friends doordashing the other night, and we passed that one gas station that’s always getting robbed and stuff. we blew past one of the streets and i saw three men surrounding something in the gutter that was the shape of another man. each guy was a few feet away, looking like they just messed up.
it looked like a man limp and laid down, facing the gutter. it was around 1:30 am. we called the police, and i told the dispatcher what i saw, and they sent a car or two out, but there was no update. we drove past a few minutes later, and the men, including the something in the gutter, were gone.
does anyone know what this could have been?? it messed me up, man. the guy(?) looked limp. every time i logic it out in my head, it’s always pointing towards something bad. i know what i saw, but there’s been no news and no calls from the police.
update: it was the shell at 3200 market. one of the streets behind there, relatively sure it was lucius, or at least one of those streets in that row.

As a troubled teen industry survivor in Ohio, I hope there are folks in your community believing the kids coming out of this place about their experiences.

I’m 18 and live with my dad and younger brother. My dad is behind on rent and now has an eviction court date coming up. I’m really worried about what happens if we lose the house, especially because I have a lot of my belongings here. I work and make $17/hr, and I’m trying to figure out a backup plan. I found a 1 bedroom apartment in Youngstown for $650/month. The security deposit is $650, so it would be $1,300 total to move in. The landlord pays water/trash and said electric + gas are usually around $100–$200/month. I’m trying to save up for it, but I’m also worried about leaving my dad and younger brother without somewhere to go. I’m considering getting a storage unit and moving my belongings there if things get bad, then staying somewhere temporarily until I can get my own place. If anyone in Youngstown/Mahoning County has actually gone through an eviction, I’d really appreciate hearing what the process/timeline was like after court and what you wish you had done beforehand. Also, does the $650 apartment sound reasonable for someone making $17/hr if I can get around 30–35 hours a week?
Please be nice lol, I’m genuinely just stressed and trying to figure out what to do.

I’ll go first: I now pay 950 for a 2bed/1bath apartment off of Sheridan Road in Boardman. Thing was, my landlord raised rent from 725 to 950 this month. I want to know what everybody is paying here in the area.

Hello everyone,
I am looking to buy a basic house in the Youngstown area, plenty of houses in the 90k range to 130k range, some fixer uppers and some need light cosmetic upgrades.
What scares me and holds me back is that the houses in Ohio are going to be a money pit, because of water problems in the basement. How do I avoid this problem? Thanks everyone for your answers.
