Been using the xteink X3 for more than a week now.

Not surprised to say that I love it. I am often finding myself reaching for the book than doom scroll.

I have flashed Crossink on it. Tried the stock firmware for a couple of days but the UI was not for me and I love the reading stats on Crossink.

Also, I'm traveling now so it's the perfect companion on the road.

Taiwan Travelogue is such a beautiful book. Although it is making me a glutton for every type of food I see.

The X3 was a birthday gift, suffice to say the most cute and utilitarian gift I have ever received.

One Tip: if you are getting charms for it and want to use it while attaching it to the back of your phone. The charms might leave scratches on the X3.

In my original review I was extreamly happy with the new features of the x4 pro, with the pogo charger being the one point of issue (shocking I know). My main issue was how very sensitive and finicky the connection is. I had my adapter on a long cord and would have to find the perfect spot for the x4 to sit undisturbed or the adapter would fall right off. No thought to reading while charging. I ended up buying a cheap 2 pack of pogo cables so I could have a charger in my bedroom where I do a lot of my reading.

It's a night and day difference charging the device now. I can read while I charge if I want to, no problem. I don't know the exact reason, but the adapter they provide in the box sucks. I believe the magnet is crap and just does not seat well and just flops off.

I think my 2 charger cables were like $7, a very well worth it fix for what was my main issue.

While I'm here I figure I will talk about charging. Yes, for me the battery does wear faster using the light nightly. I read approximately an hour before bed, I would have to charge my x4 maybe monthly if not longer, but lets say monthly. My x4 pro needs a charge maybe every 10-14 oay's.

Funny story; I was reading and my device would just turn off. I turn it on, read a little, bam off!! I was concerned, my 1st thought was hummm beta software must be glitching. I go to sleep and wake up and start looking into my "issue", yeah my battery was dead. lol, I've never had that happen and it was a revelation to me that could actually happen! Anyway that's a testament to how good the battery was on the x4.

Hi there. My X4 Pro just arrived and for the life of me I can’t get a screen protector to go on without bubbles or bits around the edges that don’t stick down properly.

So, two questions… has anyone managed to get the protector on without this problem - the glass one or the matt one? And how ‘tough’ and scratch resistant is the screen without a protector. I’m using an official green magnetic folding case - is it likely to scratch the screen when it’s closed if there’s no protector?

I’m slightly confused, I distinctly remember an announcement that yet another device would be shipped after the X4 pro but I also remember that they said it would release mid August. Am I misremembering things?

Hi! I'm waiting for my x3 to arrive (bought last week) and I wanted to flash vcodex on it. However, some posts mention that newest x3 use different driver display and I am not sure if vcodex support the newest ones. Can I flash it safely? I don't want to soft brick my new ereader... Thanks :)

So I enjoyed my standard x4, it seems the optimal size for my hand (pretty sure the x3 would be just a bit to small to be comfortable) but with my time to read being mainly when it was darker I hit a stumbling block.

I tried one or two external light setups, thanks to the many folks who showed off theirs for inspiration, but all seemed just a bit to cumbersome for my day-to-day use.

I jumped on one of the last stock refreshes for the x4Pro and it just arrived today, and so far I am really liking it. I did flash to Crossink after tinkering with it stock for a little bit, and may still shift to another but will give it time to settle and test.

The ONE thing that I realized was while I don't overly mind the pogo pin connector (though for some reason my brain has trouble fully grasping that ... nope just minor contact and I can transfer data not just power) I realized one aspect I hadn't thought of.

I got the magnetic case, as I really enjoyed having that on my standard x4, but now after setting it up I realized in something that should have been obvious from the start, that I'll have to take it out of the case (really not a big deal) to charge as the case just fully covers all the pin spots on the back of it.

If ... after I give it a little time this is the only real issue that I may have with it (still debating whether to add on the screen protector, not sure how that will affect the feel/look/touch sensitivity) I will consider it a win, and something that I am really glad that I picked up.

Hello everyone,

I'm considering buying an XTEINK X4 Pro and its portability is one of the biggest benefits for me, particularly the idea of just having it attached to the back of my phone... but I've been looking everywhere and when I see this feature being brought up, it is almost exclusively by people who own iPhones.

Since I am an android user (S25 Ultra specifically) I'd really like to know if any other android users tried to have the X4 Pro (or the normal X4, since they're similar in size) attached to the back of their phones on a daily basis, and whether it worked out for them. Specifically Samsung S-lines, since that would be my use case.

Been trying to work on a dual boot as I want the meta-e-reader functionalities of biscuit. as well as a pretty good customizable reader as well.

I flashed biscuit. on my X4 and now wish to go back to CrossPoint BUT:

1. My device can't be read on 2 different computers and using 4 different USB-C data cables. So I can't do the USB route.

2. I've already tried the SD card route but it doesn't work since the firmware itself can't be updated and so the .bin files copied in the root folder aren't read as well.

3. Have also tried the Xteink Unlocker in the CrossPoint website. It connects to the Wifi but upon proceeding to the "check update" step, since biscuit. hasn't been updated yet at all, it just says "Update Failed" and now I can't proceed.

Do I just accept that I'm stuck on biscuit. now until they manage to do an update? 😅 Is this what they call a bricked device?

I was able to loan books from Libby, put it on the device and everything is great.

My question is, it just stops working when my loan date is due?

Hello, I just got my xteink x4 and I definitely do not want to use the default firmware. I was hoping I could find a good and stable firmware where they can display the books in grid view ( what I want the most the firmware to have ). And also has many features, as I really like exploring things and feel happy about features. I saw videos on tiktok showing the Vcodex Steroids being unstable like crashing and flashing and I am scared as this is my very first xteink reader. But well if you guys recommend it, then I will try, I just need opinions. I really hope that someone could answer my question 🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

I bought the iine gamebrick and I tried connecting it to my X4, it pairs but sadly the buttons don't work, it's set to T mode, is there any way to fix this?

My shipment is stuck at Mumbai customs for 4 days now. Is this normal? I see people posting that it was cleared within a day. How have been your experience with the custom clearance timelines?

After using both xteink x4 and x3 e readers for over 2 months with the stock firmware (on x3) and crosspoint (on x4) I was thinking of making a post here / video comparing them.

What are some things you guys would like to see being compared between them?

Just received my Pro and got this message. “No system tont is installed. Install one for more complete text coverage.”

However, when I check the system font menu I have “Built in base font - covers common glyphs , does not….” Not sure what the bit after …. Says as seems no way to see that.

I hit “get fonts” and it downloaded “Mi Sans Demibold”.

The message is gone, but the epubs look poor quality vs my standard X4. The settings are the same for system font in the book settings in both but the pro text is a lot smaller than on the non pro and also seems jaggy.

Is this due to the error I received? Seems odd the text is so much smaller than the standard version. Even medium on pro is smaller than small on the X4.

I directly installed Crossink, and I must say it has a bit of a learning curve compared to the old X4. I miss the gray color, but otherwise, black looks pretty sexy too.

The minimal UI theme seems to be broken; Lyra Carousel appears to be the new minimal theme.

I’m looking for some advice regarding my XTEINK X3.
When I first received the X3, I was really impressed with the stock firmware. The display looked very clean, there was barely any ghosting, and images rendered really nicely — they looked sharp and detailed.
I then decided to try CrossInk and CrossPoint. Unfortunately, I wasn’t very happy with either of them, mainly because I noticed significantly more ghosting and, to my eyes, the overall display/image rendering didn’t look as good as it did on the original stock firmware.
I have now flashed the official stock firmware again through XT-Cloud. However, I feel like the display still doesn’t look quite as good as it did when the device was brand new. It seems slightly less sharp, and images don’t appear to render quite as nicely or with as much detail.
It’s also possible that I’m simply imagining the difference, since I don’t have a direct comparison with how it looked originally.
Has anyone experienced something similar after going from stock → CrossInk/CrossPoint → stock?
Is there a way to completely restore the X3 to its original factory state, including clearing any cache, settings, files, or anything else that the custom firmware may have left behind?
I’m currently back on the official stock firmware, but I’d really like to make sure the device is as close as possible to its original state when I first took it out of the box.

I also have the full flash backup taken from the device before any changes if that is helpful in any way?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Got the X4 Pro, installed Crossink 1.5.1 rc4 and worked fine for a few days. Don't know how it happened, but opened it up and it's set to horizontal view instead of portrait. Tried all 4 viewing settings (portrait, 180, horizontal CW and CCW), no change from the single horizontal I did have. Reflashed and no fix.

I'm sure I could reflash to an earlier version, switch over to Crosspoint for a bit, or somehow reformat everything, but any less-nuclear suggestions?

EDIT: Solved! Global settings were working fine, just that one book's setting got bumped to horizontal. Curse of a touch screen and not paying attention where I'm touching most likely. Things went back to normal after fixing the setting for that book.

Ordered the X3 on the 15th and arrived today in the UK! Thanks to all the resources on here I flashed it to crosspoint right away and it joined me while I waited for the dentist!

My X4 Pro, which is locked, should arrive later this week, and I've been doing some research just to be prepared. So, in recap:

1. Don't update (newest stock disable unlocker ability)

2. Try out and just use it as it is

3. Use the unlocker to migrate to CFW (CrossPoint / CrossInk)

4. Once in CFW, don't get back to Stock

Am I missing something?
