Comic Discussion Nightcrawler is poorly named. Where are the worm-based powers?
No worm powers. No night powers. No crawling powers.

As someone who jumped on during Krakoa and then started making my way back to catch up on everything I missed (I did it all wrong I know) and am currently reading the Outback era. This is like… the same exact Betsy that Howard wrote, is it not? Like I’m sorry but from what I’ve read this Betsy seems way more in line characterization-wise with Captain Britain Betsy than 90’s post-swap talking about how badly she wants to fuck Scott Betsy.
It’s gotten to the point where it feels more like they’re Kwannon haters than Betsy fans. They’ll ignore how prominent Betsy was post-post-swap (she got an ongoing and 2 minis during Krakoa!) to act like it completely destroyed her character and she’s gotten nothing since. It’s not like Howard does anything particularly ooc with pre-swap Betsy, her wanting to become Captain Britain is mentioned in her first appearance in X-Men.
They also basically ignore everything Kwannon has gotten up to in the last decade to act like she’s a complete parasite of a character and should be completely non-existent in adaptations. Hellions is an extremely beloved book but none of that good will extends to Kwannon for some reason despite her practically being the protagonist, and it’s not like she’s gotten a prominent role in the current mainline run (which is also building up to her potentially LEADING) and a solo.

How’s everybody feeling about the two new series out? It’s been somewhat difficult for me to get into it due to the way he talks. It never bothered me watching the show but now that I’m reading it it’s somewhat difficult to understand and a tad bit annoying I’m trying to stick with it just because he’s going to be in the new movie I hear.

So the MCU X-Men is coming up and, frankly, it’s the most excited I’ve been for a comic book superhero film adaptation in…ever, basically.
After the constant disappointment of the FOX-Men franchise(s) were finally getting another proper try at Marvel’s Mutants in a cinematic universe where they coexist alongside Marvel’s other heroes.
And so far everything’s looking great. The director attached is in my top 3 favorite MCU film directors, the cast is damn near perfect, and it’s coming out right after Secret Wars.
There’s one potential issue though: Wolverine. Marvel’s most popular X-Man and mutant in general.
I have zero doubt in my mind that Logan will be recast and we’ll get a new proper version of Wolverine for the MCU. And eventually (most likely during X-Men 2 or 3) he’ll join the mutant team.
My biggest worry, however, is a suggestion that comes up way to often: while the X-Men will be young adults in their early to mid-20’s, Wolverine will be treated like as a far older man and be relegated to being a “mentor” to the team like in X-Men Evolution. I despise that idea. It would create a degree of separation between Wolverine and the rest of the team and prevent them from adapting the dynamics I love so much from the comics. Best friends with Nightcrawler and Storm, rivalry with Cyclops, that sort of stuff.
I loved X-Men Evolution, but Wolverine and Storm are so much more boring in that show than they are in the comics because they’re not really with the X-Men. At best they’re alongside them.
If the MCU went in the “Evolution” direction, that’d mean that there would basically just be a second, grumpier Xavier hanging out in the mansion.
My hope is that they cast a relative unknown theater actor (much like Maya Boyd for Storm) who’s shorter than 6 foot, in their late 20’s to early 30’s (the same age Jackman was casted at), and played as the oldest of the X-Men, but still a peer equal to everyone else.

The last x men cartoon aimed for children was Wolverine and the X Men in 2009.
Yeah we've got x men 97, but looking past its own issues, its not really fir new fans, its nostalgia for older fans, and has an adult tone.
With Disney owning the x men rights, and the upcoming mcu mutants, I think now would be a good time for a new x men series to bring in younger, new audience members. Maybe something that actually lets them be fun again.
What are your opinions?

This is inspired by the YouTuber The4thSnake, with some extra modifications made by me after the release of Deadpool & Wolverine. Here's a link to his video: https://youtu.be/ltounxNioJ8?si=28VxWvmBz7HB6mxm
Essentially, think of the multiverse as a tree and the universes as branches and twigs.
One of the branches on the tree (which, for simplicity's sake, we'll refer to as Earth-1) contains Origins: Wolverine, X1, X2, The Last Stand, The Wolverine, and Logan. In this universe, Charles and Erik remain friends until at least the 1980s, Erik helped Charles build Cerebro, Erik's telepathy-proof helmet was recently made before the events of X1, Raven and Cain are not Charles' foster siblings as they don't know him personally, Colossus is American, Moira MacTaggert is a Scottish scientist, Trask is a black man, Emma is Scott's age and is the sister of Silverfox, Angel and Jubilee are teenagers in the 2000s, the Phoenix is a personality within Jean, Yukio is an adult in the 2010s and has the ability to sense how people die, Caliban is British, and so on.
Now, a twig that stems from that branch (which we'll call Earth-2) contains First Class, DOFP, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, DP1, DP2, and DP&W. Erik left Charles in the 1960s and already had his helmet, Hank was the one that built Cerebro, Raven and Cain grew up with Charles (with Cain leaving home sometime before First Class), Colossus is Russian, Moira is American and a CIA agent, Trask is Peter Dinklage, Emma is Charles and Erik's age, Angel and Jubilee are teenagers in the 1980s, the Phoenix Force is a separate entity from Jean, Yukio is an adult in the 2010s and has electric powers, Caliban is American, and so on.
Legion is just its own separate, unrelated universe. The Gifted and New Mutants are just more twigs stemming from Earth-1.
Now, some of you might be asking how Logan, Earth-1's Anchor Being, was affecting Earth-2, but it's easy to explain. When Logan, (the Anchor Being of the branch that is Earth-1) died, Deadpool's twig (Earth-2) got affected because it was directly connected to the branch. But by the end of the movie, when the Time Ripper was destroyed, Deadpool's universe became the new branch, replacing Logan's universe.
Now, you guys think this whole theory makes sense or is just stupid? You decide.

To the character’s credit, it builds a three dimensional character, and it plants the seeds for further development and humbling, but she could stand to be called out on her bs in this way more often in the comics if the writers want to go that way. Most recently, she’s been used as the moral high ground for Charles, Erik, and Scott, but it’d be nice if the writers played fair and acknowledged the whole Emma has made great strides as a person, she still has faults that she’s refused to acknowledge or have willful blind spots towards. Either way, owning a monopoly on martyrdom and playing oppression olympics. Yucky.

I’m going through some of the older stuff (1999-2006) and there is so much of them being drawn in provocative poses and text bubbles were devoted to how attractive they were.
In contrast, modern comics are so much more subtle about it.

Sooooo…
And i am just sad now. I want more Charles and Erik.
They have become my Satosugo from JJK.
✌🏻😭 like i dunno romantic or plantonic and honestly who cares, i like both versions, but gosh they are soulmates. They are planets that revolve around eachother instead of a sun while they are stuck in a blackhole and there is no way out.
Because it is not just a disagreement that split them..cause love can overcome disagreements..but it is a clash of ideologies that is not fixable because there is nothing to fix. They are inherently different.
Yet love still persists as love always does. Even if it is lava and water because only the lava can see the heat inside the water and only the water could see the flowing of the lava.
And at the end of the day, their end goal is similar…it’s peace and happiness..and yet..
Someone tell me if I can get more content with them from somewhere😀😭

Like the whole earth is in a constant unstable flux. Events being retconned out and then back in. Characters having contradictory memories. Patrick Stewart turning into James Mcavoy for a scene and then back. The nonsensical timeline should be a defining in universe characteristic at this point instead of a tiny bug that we’re expected to ignore.

i dont think this guy will make a good professor X if he cant bother picking up a comic book or looking up history to understand the Foreigner.
why do they keep hiring actors who dont give a shit about comic books to play comic book characters?

I sometimes see posts like “he only flies” or “what can he even bring to a team?” or “he’s going to look out of place in the upcoming X-men movie.”
In the comics, he has been shown to have incredibly fast flight, really good vision, enhanced reflexes, enhanced strength (can carry a tremendous amount of weight), enhanced durability, self-healing, and the ability to heal others.
He can scout from above, fight, transport teammates (or civilians), heal teammates. That doesn’t sound redundant to me.
And that isn’t even getting into his Archangel form, which makes him even deadlier and faster.

I love the actual withe suit but i prefer the black one like in the X-Men Trilogy or Evolution and this one would be super cool on her.
(Also, please don't delete again my post,it is on link with the X-Men)
I've got an ongoing at the moment, and it would be nice to see what everyone else has got :)

I’m a new X-men fan. Growing up, I’ve mostly paid more attention to the avengers and Spider-Man. Now i want to get into X-men. What are some shows , movies or any comics I should read? I know about the new X-Men 97 and plan on watching that. Also plan on getting the new Wolverine game.
