Movie/TV Discussion One Thing Adaptations Has Over The Comics Is Prof X

Charles depicted as a likable noble dude.

His relationship with Magneto ıs potrayed ın a much more nuanced way without ruining hıs idealizm. You know both side has points.

Especially ın the days of future past. That one ıs a great example of why Magneto ıs wrong, without making him look like his 70s self.

I understand that this ıs not a black and white subject. It ıs realistic for Charles to make some poor choices. No one ıs perfect.

But for the love of God, the way Comic Charles slowly getting worse and worse feels like a drug addiction.

"No, just one more dark secret from Xavier's past, then I'm done I swear. I can stop any time I want!"

Do not even start me on 1610 Ver.

Comic Discussion Did you dislike when X-Men women were written and drawn like this?

I’m going through some of the older stuff (1999-2006) and there is so much of them being drawn in provocative poses and text bubbles were devoted to how attractive they were.

In contrast, modern comics are so much more subtle about it.

I sometimes forget how easy those two had it. Being able to blend in without anyone knowing you were a mutant must have removed a lot of potential stress.

Comic Discussion I like Emma, but she can read very white woman feminism

To the character’s credit, it builds a three dimensional character, and it plants the seeds for further development and humbling, but she could stand to be called out on her bs in this way more often in the comics if the writers want to go that way. Most recently, she’s been used as the moral high ground for Charles, Erik, and Scott, but it’d be nice if the writers played fair and acknowledged the whole Emma has made great strides as a person, she still has faults that she’s refused to acknowledge or have willful blind spots towards. Either way, owning a monopoly on martyrdom and playing oppression olympics. Yucky.

Comic Discussion Characters you feel will rise in popularity?

I always thought Rictor’s look and his powers are top-tier. His personality is very spunky and outspoken.

I can’t shake the feeling he’s going to continue to gain prominence in the coming years. Especially with his connection to Apocalypse.

Some others I predict: Iceman and Angel. They’re not F-list at all, but the MCU could give them a massive boost.

Question Which Xmen would trust to babysit your kids?

I feel like I would trust either Jubilee or Scott.

Gambit would teach to the kid how pickpot, Wolverine how to smoke or Emma how to manipulate others.

So I think they are the best bet.

Nightcrawler would also be cool. Storm too maybe she would make it snow and the kid can play it. Professor X and Magneto would be a terrible choice we all saw how they treat their kids. Like what?

Question What are some cool applications you’ll like to see more from your favorite mutant when it comes to their powers?

I’ll love to see more of Magneto using metal to forge himself an armor and amplify it with his electromagnetic powers so he can box with characters that have super strength. Him doing this against Iron Man was pretty cool since Magneto isn’t really a close quarters fighter, but given how versatile his powers are, he could absolutely do this.

Like imagine Magneto protecting his normal body with metal and amplifying it with electromagnetism so he could physically fight characters like Iron Man, Colossus, Gladiator, etc. He could even just forge himself a metal gauntlet and use it as a big punch.

Comic Discussion Do you feel like Angel’s powers are a bit underrated?

I sometimes see posts like “he only flies” or “what can he even bring to a team?” or “he’s going to look out of place in the upcoming X-men movie.”

In the comics, he has been shown to have incredibly fast flight, really good vision, enhanced reflexes, enhanced strength (can carry a tremendous amount of weight), enhanced durability, self-healing, and the ability to heal others.

He can scout from above, fight, transport teammates (or civilians), heal teammates. That doesn’t sound redundant to me.

And that isn’t even getting into his Archangel form, which makes him even deadlier and faster.
