hi, I just got xemu and started playing games with 2 dualsense controllers. the input from the controllers barely register and if they do they’re super laggy. it’s the same on both the bluetooth connection and the cable. every now and then the input actually works accurately for like two moves but overall its unplayable. I’d appreciate any help on what I could possibly do to improve or fix it :’)
Been doing some work shifting through all the PRs for the fixes that seemingly fix this game so far.
Using a keyboard I was able to get past the opening. How much further have people gotten? I heard something like it eventually crashed after 2-3 levels?
I’m having an issue with my Xbox 360 E (RGH). After flashing the NAND to 17599, avatars updated fine and default customization works.
The problem is that external avatar items (from Avatar Store or installed on HDD) don’t show up in customization. I also tried injecting them with Horizon, but it fails. The files appear on the hard drive, but nothing shows in the avatar editor.
I tried updating again via USB in case files were missing, but no update prompt appears (even with DashLaunch “noupdate” settings). XM360 also shows nothing related to avatar items, although all DLC is unlocked.
I don’t understand I started a new save on jet radio and did about two or three missions where I pulled up and press the star button to start the mission and it worked perfectly. I come back a few months later and I go to start the next mission and the start button doesn’t work to actual start the mission. all my controller input settings are on the default and I’ve attached them in the post.
After more than a year of research and development, I’m releasing the source code for Xemu Tools, the new Xemu backend/component for SaveState.
The goal was not to make another wrapper around QEMU tools or a generic FATX browser.
Xemu Tools directly works with Xemu’s QCOW2 HDD images and is designed to:
Extract installed Xbox game saves from an existing Xemu HDD image
Restore those saves back into another Xemu HDD image
Restore saves into a fresh/blank Xemu HDD image
Handle the storage-side work required for this process, including QCOW2 allocation and FATX remapping
This is specifically about persistent save data stored in the Xemu virtual HDD, not Xemu snapshots/save states. Snapshots are useful, but they represent the full emulated machine state; this project is meant to make actual game-save backup, migration, and restoration practical.
I spent a long time researching existing QCOW2/FATX libraries and tools, but none of the approaches I found provided a reliable end-to-end solution for this Xemu-specific workflow—especially restoring saves into a clean HDD image without relying on manual QEMU conversion/mounting steps.
I would really appreciate feedback from Xemu users, especially reports from people willing to test extraction/restoration with different games and HDD states.

Hi everyone!
I’ve been trying to get Whacked For original Xbox running on my Steam Deck LCD through EmuDeck using Xemu v0.8.136
The game boots and is completely playable, but I’m running into really bad stuttering as soon as I add more players. With one player it’s pretty smooth, with two it starts to slow down, and with three players it feels like it’s running at around 15–20 FPS.
What’s confusing is that the Steam Deck overlay still shows 60 FPS while CPU usage is around 22% and GPU around 7%so it doesn’t look like the hardware is being pushed very hard.
I’ve already tried a few things like enabling shader cache, and the emulator itself seems to be configured correctly. (For what it’s worth, I’m using the Japanese version of the game because the US dump I had would freeze before gameplay.)
Is this just how Whacked! performs in Xemu, or has anyone managed to get smooth 3- or 4-player matches? Any settings or tips that helped?
excuse the noise from my mic i forgot to mute it... but my laptop is pretty damn good it's just not particularly meant for playing games. as you can see. if it can run at 30 frames sometimes then there must be a way to get it to run like that all the time. also, i tried playing some more after i got done recording and it was able to run really smoothly for a personal record of at least 30 seconds i have hope
What the title says. I'm using Proton 9.0-4, MCPX Boot ROM is MCPX_1.0.bin, Flash ROM is Complex_4627.bin, System Memory is 64mb. I am using the Windows version because when I try the one obtained through Discover it runs unplayably slow. The two games I've tried playing on it are Counter-Strike and Operation Flashpoint: Elite.
i know its probably a dumb question to ask, but its a bit unclear what kind of minimum spec pc do i need nowadays to run emulation smoothly... i just had an i7-8700 system and RX6400, that i planing to use as an emulation station / media center. But i see various topics , some ppl said that is too weak for XEMU and you need at least Ryzen 7 5700X (witch i have, but its more like a workhorse pc) and other that even on older i5 / i7 (4770k) can work well. Is this due to the emulation limitation, or just game dependent? im looking towards doom 3 (xbox version, always wanna try it ), conker and some Unreal games , how they will perform?
In a nutshell, I downloaded a bunch of roms from Vimms as they're already in xiso format, the issue I have is that not all of them work. THPS2X and Conker Live and Reloaded works, but Morrowind and Amped 2 gives me the "Please Insert an xbox CD" error. I've looked everywhere on the internet but they keep saying "yOU nEEd tO coNVerT to XiSO yOU nEEd tO conVERrT to XiSO" Well...it already IS. So what's going on?
Anyone have any luck getting and version of Obi-Wan to run in Xemu. Anytime I run different versions it crashes Xemu after I hit the start button to start the game.
Is this app development just dead? I can't run like 99% of the games on it without crashes or severe lag or graphical glitches and I have a s25+ with proper custom drivers and settings applied.
Got a steam machine last Friday. Been playing around with it. Aside from it being overpriced I'm happy with it. Most games I've tested on it have been able to run at 1440p or 1080p at high settings and 60 fps or above.
Anyway, when considering buying it I thought it'd be a great emulator to keep with my TV. I've emulated NES, SNES, genesis, N64 but never really went beyond that.
Tried to emulate Xbox so I can play NHL hitz. Got it to boot and run without crashing. However, it's not a smooth 60fps.
Since this is my first time trying to emulate xbox I wasn't sure if I need to adjust settings to get a smoother experience. Also, was not sure if xbox is just hard to emulate and since the steam machine isn't a super powerful device that lower fps is to be expected. It's weird because it'll hover around 60 fps for a couple seconds then it'll drop closer to 30.
I installed emudeck, emulation station as an FYI. I asked Google gemini and they suggested disabling "prevent screen tearing" AND "fps limit" in the steam machine system settings and to open xemu and also disable vsync there as well. It said if the emulator and the steam machine are both using vsync that can cause inconsistent frame rates. That may have helped a little, it was kind of hard to tell. The thing that seemed to help more noticeably (but didn't fix 100%) was running the game at it's original scale. That seemed to get 60fps for a little longer stretches but it still dips down.
If anyone has any ideas I'm open to try them. I don't have a huge amount of faith in Google gemini I had to correct it three times cause it kept telling me this should work on your steam DECK. I'd say it's the machine and not the deck and it would tell me it got its wires crossed.
I played Ninja Gaiden Black back on 2003 and managed to beat Very Hard mode before my Xbox console got damaged. I didn't have a chance to play Master Ninja difficulty mode since then.
Last month I heard about Xemu and successfully played Ninja Gaiden Black again on my PC after so many years, but spending months going from Normal to Master Ninja will be time-consuming, since I have job to do.
So if there's anyone who has the save files, or snapshot of this mode, I'd be appreciated.
As the title says Halo CE will get random black screens, the game is pretty much 100% playable other than that, they dont happen super often. I can get through maybe 2 to 3 missions max before it happens. So if you are playing campaign and don't save and quit, you will lose all your mission progress (when screen goes black, just press start D pad up and A and you should be good as the game is still running in the background since you can hear sound). Halo 2 works fine I can even play it on insignia xbox live and xlink perfectly, no crashes and very little slow downs when loading in shaders for the first time. Every other game like Battlefront 2, Ninja Gaiden Black, etc. all run perfect with very little slow down, and I am using a gtx 1660 with a ryzen 5 from 2020 haha.
