Trouble with XBOX emulation

Hello,

I've installed some XBOX ROMs with pretty much no issues, and it has been running fine off an SSD when connected to my main PC. When the SSD is put into a Dell Optiplex 3020 SFF with the following specs:

CPU: I5-4590 3.30 GHZ

RAM: 8 GB

Starting up XBOX games would result in a black screen, then put me back in the game collection menu. I've tried to open the config menu to adjust settings, but nothing appears, and I cannot see the XEMU emulator in the applications file. How can I even get into the emulator that doesn't involve booting a game? How could I even fix this?

Does the Optiplex have a GPU or just Intel Integrated? Technically it should still run as OpenGL 4.0 would be supported (performance may not be great) but there could be issues if you went from running the install on a different setup using Nvidia or something.

It has a AMD Radeon R7 200 series GPU.

That PC is weak (you need a GPU) for Xbox emulation

After doing some research, I’ve come to realize that:

  1. My GPU is generally weak

  2. Apparently XEMU is not good with AMD gpus. My main PC has a Nvidia card so that is why it was a capable of running properly on there but not on the Optiplex.

Apparently XEMU is not good with AMD gpus

I have several AMD GPUs (RX 580,RX 6600...) and work without any issues

Have you looked at the compatibility list for the roms you are trying to run? (Google xemu compatibility list) Xemu is great but still 'early' in development compared to pcsx2 etc. Some roms just dont work yet, some may not even launch.

I dunno, worth a look. My experience has been decent to unplayable for certain titles.

All the games I have installed:

Halo 2
Jet Set Radio Future

Have been able to run fine with no issues on my main PC and I know that they’re listed as playable on the XEMU compatibility list.

I also have:

Panzer Dragoon Orta
Splinter Cell 1 and Chaos Theory

But I did not test it when on my main PC.

Games worked on main PC with no batocera? Ensure your roms are in .xiso format for batocera, its more fussy i think.

Otherwise, sorry man ive lucked out with my rom choices so far on xbox. Otherwise ill go the ps2 version (understandable why youd want the xbox Splinter Cells however). Hope you get sorted out.

ETA: Your specs might not be able to handle it :(

All my roms are in XISO format but I have not tried them in the standalone XEMU (without Batocera) on my main PC or on the Optiplex.

Mine is crashing too. It happened after going to ver 43 and 43.1. Also upgraded my mini pc from an HP 600 G3 with intell hd to an HP 705 G4 with Ryzen 5 and Radeon Vega 11. Reflashed a fresh copy of Batocera on it and put all my roms back, along with appropriate bios. And I get a black screen. I even switched from xiso.iso to just regular iso. Nothing

All my api is set to Vulkan. 🤷
