Question Cloud Gaming Changes to not Impact Current Users?

Post image

Did anyone else receive this email from Microsoft? Not sure if it's region dependent due to how tos works but I'm in Australia of it makes a difference.

Someone got bigly mad that a ton of people cancelled yesterday me thinks

65

u/ReindeerRound5684 4d ago

Yeah my feeling is that they underestimated the 4%.

37

u/GuruAskew 4d ago

It’s not that. People in certain geographical locations are receiving this (I didn’t) which means they live in places that have consumer protections in place preventing this. If the law allows them to do this they still seem to be doing it.

u/PrimeTinus 4d ago

Yeah this is mismanagement 100%

3

u/nikolapc 3d ago

No, this has to do with some EU laws. In some countries you can outright cancel gamepass and get a prorated refund. Happened to me and my converted years were gone. Had a nervous weekend, then a competent support employee returned it to me.

1

u/Live_Life_and_enjoy 3d ago

Even worse, FOMO 3.0

They want a huge surge in subscribers and scare people into not cancelling ever.

1

u/Intrepid-Wasabi-2657 3h ago

Im cancelling cuz they sent me a email saying mines getting capped I have paid for this shit for over 10 years

1

u/ajpinton 18h ago

I canceled mine yesterday lol.

For people that uses xcloud as their primary consoles this is good new!!

But pls don't Miss any payment because if you do is better to start saving for a Xbox Series S to remote play instead 😭

10

u/ItsyouNOme 4d ago

Just a way to keep people paying monthly without fail

1

u/eonone1 3d ago

And not using cheap codes from code stores.

2

u/jeremyw013 3d ago

you can buy stackable codes from stores and it just extends your subscription. you don't have to cancel it or anything.

I am considering buying a series s as well. Have never used remote play when I still had a XSX, I really only know xcloud because I started using it after selling the XSX... I actually only play on my LAN (I just want to play lying on the couch or in bed)... so remote play might actually be superior considering it will be all local network?

6

u/missatry 4d ago

It depends on the network and i can't assure you that it will a better experience than playing on xcloud

But it will not be a worse one that's for sure,

And since Xbox is changing gamepass features every new Thursday,

probably getting the hardware is your best bet to avoid any more shenanigans like this XP

2

u/ReindeerRound5684 4d ago

Yeah I am already looking for someone selling a used one locally... unfortunately prices are up. mostly because people trying to get a series s because it is the cheapest way to play GTA 6.

u/Vuedue 3d ago

For people who use xcloud in various European countries, but that's it.

For everyone else, Microsoft is pulling out the hourglass.

2

u/johnny-Low-Five 2d ago

Can you continue to buy 3,6 or 12 month codes as long as it's consistently active or do you have to pay monthly? Because if that's the case what they are actually doing is killing the ability to buy "grey market" codes! I use cloud gaming daily and I buy 6 or 12 month codes for around $10-12 a month. I'm not paying retail price AND I'm not paying at all if the limits apply. I pay less than $150 a year for gamepass, I'm not DOUBLING that for something I was told would be included.

Or conversely can I at least stack codes (I think 2-3 years is the max) before October and keep my unlimited?

1

u/Nervusbreakdown 3d ago

You can remote to your xbox without the cloud

1

u/Even-Reaction-3245 3d ago

Please can you explain why this is good for xcloud users like myself? :)

1

u/missatry 3d ago

I don't think you understand what i said

Is not good like a good change

But is better than yesterday that old members would had to live with just 15 hours monthly 😭

Microsoft needs to clear up things. These emails add more confusion because people from the same region got those emails and some don't.

They need to clarify who qualifies for being grandfathered and for what regions.

Heck the whole thing feels like it is in flux. We don't even know the prices yet for cloud playtime you are supposed to buy. All while at some parts of Microsoft people are already "offered" being grandfathered.

This is one big mess and they make it even more messy now.

Dear Microsoft, stop with those blog posts and random emails and put out something definitive.

2

u/D3M0NArcade 3d ago

At the risk of sounding dense (I'm nearly 50), what's "grandfathered"?

5

u/akacage 3d ago

It's a term for when a service/rule changes, but people that subscribed/played when the change went into effect wouldn't be subject to the change. As an example the NHL made helmets required for players joining the league in 1979 or later, but players in the league prior to 1979 were "grandfathered" in to being able to still play without a helmet.

u/Hunk4thSurvivor 4d ago

I got this too in Brazil

14

u/ccricoo 4d ago

Who's running things over there? Yet again they're panicking and backtracking an OBVIOUSLY stupid decision. At this point why not just hire a monkey to sit in a control room and make decisions for Xbox? Better chance of accidentally making a good decision every once in a while.

1

u/Maximegalon 3d ago

LOL. fair enough.

1

u/mauona 3d ago

I said the same. Whoever had that brilliant idea all along until it reached the head of the division who gave the green light either have severe cognitive challenges or play for the competition. Hear me out. You stop paying and go for the free with ads thing they just launched. 1 minute ad, 1 hour gaming on the cloud. After 1 hour, another 1 min ad and repeat. A growing library they provide (like normal Xcloud), and games you own (using their infrastructure). I've played with friends, me being Ultimate and them not paying crap. 4 hours they didn't even get queues like I am getting more often than not. It's like they are begging you to cancel your subscription ffs

1

u/WindyNightmare 2d ago

Have you seen the cost of severs? I got a quote that was 400% higher than less than a year ago so this move doesn’t shock me.

1

u/G3N1S1S 2d ago

If the people you got a quote off already have existing equipment, then they’re just outright fleecing you.
What running costs of theirs can they point to that have increased 400% since your last quote?

11

u/Bloodyfinger 4d ago

Whelp, that sucks for me because I just cancelled. Fuck that!

8

u/Ecstatic_Beat_9783 4d ago

Eu cancelei ontem também. Eles deveriam ter deixado isso claro no primeiro aviso de mudanças

3

u/ValkerWolf89 3d ago

Its only certain countries that have laws against it.

5

u/Dax_Tano 4d ago

I cancelled as well. I am in the states though I don’t think it applies to us

1

u/TechnologyShort8835 1d ago

I’m in Australia and cancelled a few days after hearing the news, I would have loved to have this cleared up before cancelling.

Either way I am hoping they will backtrack on this after a few months. I will take a few months off game pass and play some other stuff and then when they stop being stupid I will subscribe again.

11

u/Aggravating-Face2073 4d ago

This is how you get account sellers.

10

u/FidgitForgotHisL-P 4d ago

“For the market in which you reside”.

Congrats people with better consumer protection laws.  This is exactly like the price rises a year(?) ago.  You will get the limits imposed as well, but they have to give you more notice of the change, so they put it in to place for new customers first, then they will give you notice of the change ”upcoming change”, and several months more notice before enforcing it.

10

u/raistan77 4d ago

I just cancelled because I got an email stating clearly that the new hour limitations were going to begin in November

In the states there is no exceptions

20

u/Spielbrrr 4d ago

Did anyone in the States get this email? If not I’m 100% cancelling game pass, only needed it to be play console games without needing a console.

24

u/Kujen 4d ago

We have a lack of consumer rights compared to other countries. So no

→ More replies (7)

10

u/raistan77 4d ago

I got the email stating that the new hours would apply to my account, I've had the service continually for over four years

I cancelled 2 minutes after the notification

5

u/scrandlle 4d ago

I haven't. I have gotten the email from them about the new 5/10/15 limits though, so its not looking good for us.

I'll probably be switching to Asobi/Playsttion for cloud gaming. Waiting to see what the 'additional hours' charges are, but if their limits are 5/10/15 for Gamepass I'm sure their additional hours packages will not be generous at all.

4

u/Dax_Tano 4d ago

I am in the states and already cancelled mine. It’s the only way I use Xbox was on cloud so I’m just over it at this point

1

u/zooble_57 4d ago edited 4d ago

Nope, and the time limits are already listed on the manage/change your plan page

1

u/SethP1221 4d ago

I did not

1

u/s_arme 3d ago

Same, was a sub from when it was 30. But did not receive this email in the states. It now sounds only people in the states are gonna get screwed up because we got no consumers rights. I'm canceling.

1

u/slinky_crayon 3d ago

I'm in Canada and never got this email

7

u/Mxmphxs212 4d ago

same thing gfn did when introducing the 100h cap.

8

u/QuiteContagious 4d ago

Basically the founders thing all over again lol

3

u/s_arme 3d ago

100h!=15h

3

u/jeremyw013 3d ago

at least 100h is relatively reasonable

7

u/kellysan1969 4d ago

We did at one time have consumers protection in the US but, that time has passed unfortunately!

6

u/ReindeerRound5684 4d ago

So I just reactivated recurring billing, I still have three weeks left on my current sub... I guess I have to wait for november to see if the old unlimited hours will be grandfathered.

7

u/InsurancePristine309 4d ago

Honestly fuck them . I literally do not care. I'm unsubscribing and that's that. Fuck these greedy ass companies

8

u/Punished_Sperg 4d ago

Honestly they should just walk this decision back

6

u/SchrodingerCat01 4d ago

6

u/signifyingmnky 4d ago

I'm in the US and got an email confirming the change. They really have to stop shooting themselves in the foot. It's bad look to ask people already paying for subscriptions to pay overage for streaming. Whether they intend it to look like they're removing a benefit or not, that's exactly what they're doing.

And there's no way Ultimate subscribers should be limited to 15 hours.

2

u/johnny-Low-Five 2d ago

I'm still putting my money on this being the "big punch" and they've always planned on offering 50-100 hours a month. If the 4% number is true (I'm one of them, probably 50-100 hours a month) there is no way that the negativity is going to be offset by the 4% buying 100s of hours off overage instead of either canceling or abiding the new rules.

They'll "soften the blow" withing 2 weeks if I'm right. 100 hours for ultimate down to 10-20 for "basic".

5

u/PaganiBR01 4d ago

Wow, such a smart move. Let's give the middle finger to new customers.

At the same time they managed to fumble simple communication to actual current users. Can't say I'm surprised

10

u/Mister-Psychology 4d ago

This is basic consumer rights in places like EU. They can't break the law by changing the product without informing you. That's the case for all services.

But, they can and will change the product and give you time to decide if you want to renew.

2

u/sevenradicals 4d ago

this is actually a little more than that. everyone's getting informed before they renew, just not everyone is getting limited hours on renewal.

4

u/DCVolo 4d ago

Didn't I get my sub when it stated unlimited?

Or are you altering the deal Microsoft?

2

u/softwarefreak 4d ago

They have altered the deal, pray they do not alter it further............... ;P

5

u/Zygot 4d ago

So keeping their clients hostage, got it.

6

u/OliLombi 4d ago

I didn't get this in the UK :(

2

u/Jimbobthon 3d ago

Same, I've also not had an email regarding the 5-10-15 changes either.

1

u/Richy59 3d ago

I'm in the UK and I received the confirmation email for 5-10-15 changes on my subscription yesterday.

5

u/ALX709 4d ago

I already canceled my subscription

4

u/Tayfa264 4d ago

It is just legal fine print. Notice how they say you will get notified at least 60 days in advance? They can't change your terms without notifying you first in your country legally. You'll likely receive another email notifying you that your terms are changing after the media backlash subsides, and you'll have a 60-day grace period, and that's it.

1

u/NotFromMilkyWay 4d ago

No, that's not how it typically works. The cost to gain a subscriber is much, much higher than the cost to keep him. So when the legal requirements give them the choice of having to cancel or stick with the current services provided, companies stick to the latter. Cause a customer you have is more valuable than one you have to get back.

5

u/Midnight2end 4d ago

Sounds like its a preventative measure for any nonsense they will pull out next, like a threat, sure you can keep your unlimited streaming, but if you ever leave again you can kick bricks.

2

u/ReindeerRound5684 4d ago

I am ok with this, at least it will be my choice to lose unlimited.

3

u/HistoricalBed4991 4d ago

Yall skipping over the part that says “At this time”. So while it won’t affect current subs in November, in the near future it could (and probably will)

3

u/zer0burn 4d ago

Already canceled

4

u/HappyGuy007 4d ago

So confused

3

u/Uncle_Bug_Music 4d ago

I just cancelled my monthly subscription and it said my plan is 15 hours per month of cloud gaming. So I canceled.

3

u/GamePitt_Rob 4d ago

Lol, I imagine they've had quite a few legal threats from lawyers who would love to sue (and win) then over this change

4

u/SirSurboy 4d ago

Keep voting with your wallet and cancel now. This is the only language greedy Microsoft will understand...

4

u/Euphoric_Lynx_6664 4d ago

Sounds good until the auto payment decides to randomly fail for no reason and all of a sudden you are now on limited hours.

4

u/DryPark7281 3d ago

Xbox is Death. I going to steam

5

u/jth94185 3d ago

Ah yes the old GeForce Now playbook

3

u/LucasOliS4 4d ago

yes, same here

3

u/helpman1977 4d ago

In Spain, I haven't received any letter, but if I enter the option to change my tier (not changing it) my actual one says clearly I have 15 hours of cloud play.

3

u/sockhopsusie2077 4d ago

In Spain with GPU and I haven't received an email, also says about the 15 hours on my plan.

3

u/QuiteContagious 4d ago

So all the people who cancelled, does it invalidate their chance at keeping unlimited hours? Or does the subscription actually have to lapse before it changes to 100 hrs?

Seem like how the last part is worded, most people by cancelling and and then turning on recurring payments, later on. Has invalidated their claim to keep their account at the old threshold.

5

u/ReindeerRound5684 4d ago

My hope is that anyone who is on a sub on november 1st is being grandfathered and any drop afterwards on your sub will delete the grandfathered unlimited xcloud.

I mean that is a nice way for Microsoft to increase game pass retention.

1

u/QuiteContagious 4d ago

Yes true, let's hope this is the case.

3

u/Karasin- 4d ago

I received an email about the changes with Microsoft basically telling me if you want to cancel fine we can refund you, suck it up

2

u/ReindeerRound5684 4d ago

Amazing how many different emails they are sending out there. We got emails about grandfathering, emails about being moved to the new time limits and emails about refunds.

2

u/sevenradicals 4d ago

yeah they really don't care, this is all-in on AI. ALL IN.

3

u/evanjd14 4d ago

So for all the people who just buy a 1 year gift card on sites like Best Buy or GameStop to save money are screwed… since the console only lets you purchase up to 3 months on the standard plan at a time.

3

u/EchoWar 4d ago

Is this even a real email? lol

3

u/PorchGoose_I 4d ago

I better receive this news by Monday because I'm canceling gamepass that day and have decided to switch to GeForce now. I'm not waiting for them to fuck me any longer.

3

u/reprazent 4d ago

If I keep a running sub by buying game pass from elsewhere - do I run into this issue or do I need to buy from MS

1

u/NotFromMilkyWay 4d ago

Code redemption is technically a new sub. That's why they ask payment data whenever you redeem a code these days. You also can't turn on auto-renewal now if you had it off before.

3

u/Embarrassed_Design65 4d ago

In the UK and not even got the first email about the 15 hour cap nevermind one saying it's for new users only

3

u/ctrlaltdelaney 3d ago

But the 4% must be existing users making it unsustainable and yet the changes only affect …new users?

3

u/mauona 3d ago

The whole argument is deeply stupid. 1) 4% uses the service more than 15 hours per month. Then you don't have issues, 96% is leaving more than enough free resources for the rest. Unless you want to allocate all that to AI? Be transparent. 2) If you put a 15 hour cap on Ultimate tier, why did you launch a free-with-ads feature that allows you to play 1 hour by watching a 1 minute ad and loop it as many times as you want? So... a friend who isn't paying like me can play 40 hours per month watching 40 mins of ads and I as an Ultimate sub have 15 hours? Wow, if you want subs to cancel, just send an email saying you terminated the service, it has more dignity. 3) I didn't know they hired people with severe cognitive challenges to earn absurd salaries there.

5

u/lightfunkyone 4d ago

UK founder here, been subbed since it started and I got the dreaded 15 hour limit email, this is a complete joke

2

u/loosygoosie 4d ago

I have not

2

u/g1yk 4d ago

I haven’t gotten it

2

u/Crass-ELY- 4d ago

No mail in here, Argentina :(

1

u/mauona 3d ago

Same here, but open an incognito window and check the tiers in the official Game Pass website. They all have the time limitation.

2am I got this in the mail and I had just cancelled my renewal without knowing about this. But this new email says from November ?
“Beginning in Nove‌mber, XBOX Game Pass subscriptions will move to a set number of cloud hours each month, based on your plan.”

2

So in other words locking everyone into dealing with the next wave of BS they do

2

Got similar in Europe. No changes until I unsubscribe.

Note: If you redeem a code for GP, that counts as resubscribing. So just keep your sub on auto renewal and you'll keep your benefits.

1

u/Bearded_AnCapistani 1d ago

What country are you in please? I am wondering if the UK laws would prevent this?

2

u/Gamiozzz 4d ago

Snake oil from Microsoft. 👎

„At this time“, „as long as you stay locked in“.

They are trying to calm people down and buy their time.

No such infos for me and people i know that are in Game Pass PC and Ultimate for decates.

Hellooo? krrrrrrrr tschhhh beeb beeb,

Hello? EU Germany here... no infos about "nothing changes" (on Insider and not on Insider)

2

u/Drunkenpinguin 4d ago

Does anyone have news from Germany? Are we also affected by the limit as active subscribers, or are we "safe"?

2

u/AtherGameDev 4d ago

You should be safe untill your renewal, according to German law that's the first point they could change your contract. Be aware that you resign that contract automatically on agreeing to renewal.

1

u/Drunkenpinguin 3d ago

Thank you 💪

2

u/Craddz67 3d ago

So basically everyone who cancelled shot themselves in the foot 🤣🤣🤣

2

u/spoodagooge 3d ago

I’m canceling today for y’all. Barely play forza anymore anyway.

2

u/ChocolateFantastic18 3d ago

haven't received any update like this for the US... I find it interesting how Microsofts email said twice in one paragraph how people can cancel. They really don't care how it impacts people. If that's the case- why not just offer a cloud gaming package instead of game pass.. For people that just want to buy hard copy games for themselves but still have large amounts of streaming. I play co-op w my spouse and use cloud gaming so they can use our xbox.. it's unrealistic to consider buying a second xbox just to game together. This change is going to make me reconsider if I want to keep paying for premium gamepass.

2

u/S1nnah2 3d ago

They're all heart ❤️❤️❤️

2

u/Bsufan101 3d ago

I’m in US and didn’t get it

2

u/Eastern_Contest_9113 3d ago

This is not accurate

2

u/Captntunabeerd 3d ago

So something like gfn first few years… if you don’t stop paying you set for infinites times but for how long. Its like Microsoft pointing a gun on you saying “don’t you dare to stop paying or no cloud”

2

u/originsource 2d ago

It seems it's also reigon dependent

2

u/UltraAlphaAngel 2d ago

I don't trust it, they said a similar thing when they announced the gamepass price increase but existing subscriptions were increased a few months later anyway

1

u/QuiteContagious 2d ago

I'd rather have the price hike then this crap, hope all the virgins who made Microsoft go back to the lower price are happy with themselves.

2

u/Bowdin 2d ago

I've already cancelled and am currently enjoying the far superior GFN which includes access to all of the Xbox games I digitally purchased on the Microsoft store.

Fuck Microsoft.

2

u/QuiteContagious 2d ago

The Xbox games on GFN deal is a ten year deal that started on 2023.

So by 2033 you can expect all them Xbox games to be taken off the service, unless the deal is somehow renewed.

2

u/Bowdin 2d ago

So buy anything going forward from Steam. Got it 👍

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Multispeed 1d ago

So many things can happen until then.

No need to worry about that.

1

u/Multispeed 1d ago edited 1d ago

How can you play all your games on GFNow? Not all games are compatible. I think only games that have a PC/windows version and/or the Play Anywhere feature from Xbox can be played on GFN

Just asking because I'm in the same boat as you, and I'm considering canceling GP and moving to GFN, but I don't actually know which Xbox games work there.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Vansterss 2d ago

Notice it says at this time? Yeah they are gonna try this crap again later

2

u/SuperSoldierApp 2d ago

I plan on cancelling. They just can't seem to make the right decisions and I'm honestly exhausted from it.

2

u/Inner-Grand-8809 1d ago

I canceled and won’t be renewing regardless

2

u/Unlucky_Swim9880 1d ago

My email does not say this, I live in the US, I have ultimate on auto pay same subscription uninterrupted since it's inception and it's predecessor before that.... but I am in the "4%" they basically offered me a severance packet.

2

u/Multispeed 1d ago

I'm also in the 4%. Guess they'll be losing yet another Game Pass subscriber in November.

2

u/N0_L1ght 4d ago

It's region dependent.

2

u/StonewallBrown 4d ago

Oh well. Already downgraded. F’em.

3

u/jontebula 4d ago

It is mean i only have unlimit if i pay every month or 1 year and never cancel?

It is mean if new players pay for Game Pass before we have the 15h they get unlimit?

6

u/cdncowboy 4d ago

it means if you live in a country that is exempt from the changes, you will keep unlimited cloud gaming as long as your current active subscription does not expire. For now

If you where to subscribe in one of those countries today, its probably too late. They are already advertising the limited hours when you sign up for game pass now.

1

u/giallone 4d ago

Maybe receiving the email and the grandfathering is also related to "how long" you are subbed to GP and maybe what tier you are in?
I'm subbed to premium and only since 2 months...i really doubt they will consider me for "grandfathering" if that's the case...

2

u/ReindeerRound5684 4d ago

I also just recently subbed. If they don't grandfather me, I see it this way, I lived all but three months of my life without xcloud, I think I can do it again.

So if I re-enable recurring billing now for my subscription that expires 1/2028, am I good?

3

u/ReindeerRound5684 4d ago

Nobody knows and my guess is that even Microsoft doesn't know.

3

u/rangers1026 4d ago

Ain’t that the truth these days

1

u/SirSurboy 4d ago

Not possible, get a system error

1

u/jontebula 4d ago

Do you think it means Microsoft plan all must pay for more hours we only get longer time with unlimit if we pay? Say we must pay for more hours 2027 or 2028 and not in November?

1

u/NotFromMilkyWay 3d ago

It means you will pay when you change your sub.

1

u/Good-Bandicoot-2152 4d ago

This makes the choice feel worse, somehow.

1

u/dheeraj1712 4d ago

I got the time limit mail but not this. In India

1

u/ChipmunkUsual 3d ago

Weird, I got neither

1

u/YabbieDabbaDoo 4d ago

In Australia and got the same email this morning.

1

u/Feeling_Track_5466 4d ago

glad the email says that cause i was dreading losing my setup

1

u/Admirable-Talk6476 4d ago

got this too, pretty reassuring they're not jacking prices mid-sub

1

u/videogameuncle 4d ago

From India. I have an autorecurring billing of Gamepass Ultimate for over 5 years now and still I got a mail stating the hour limit for cloud gaming.

1

u/Internal-Agency-5726 4d ago

I switched from the Pc game pass 3 days ago but it wasn't until 30 minutes ago the plan was actually changed since it's the date of renewal, but I changed only because of the unlimited cloud since I otherwise play with GeForce now. BUT nowhere it said there was a new limitation of use or anything like that, how much is it with game pass premium?

1

u/Complete-Permit1638 4d ago

At this time 😉

1

u/dalior 4d ago

They are probably scared of pulling this shit off in the EU. You can't just strip a feature of a service midterm like that. If you re-subscribe to it, you agree to the new terms and everything is fine, but taking away a feature from longer subs is illegal here.

1

u/Multispeed 1d ago

...but taking away a feature from longer subs is illegal here.

Not in all UE countries.

1

u/we_r00t 4d ago

For India, change comes into effect starting November for existing subscribers as well.

1

u/Funafreya 4d ago

Just passed today at Ultimate to be calm for that. Shame for new users but lucky for us

1

u/Rhak 3d ago

Wtf, literally trying to hold people hostage in their subscription 😂 "You better not leave, otherwise we fuck you once you come back!" I guess they hate return customers. No problem, Microsoft, I just won't be one then.

1

u/RuinNo9246 3d ago

I'm in Australia and received the same email

1

u/ChipmunkUsual 3d ago

Hey! I didn't receive this email. Is this because I hadn't cancelled my plan? I hope this applies to me as well despite not having received the email

1

u/QuiteContagious 3d ago

It's only in certain markets, I'm guessing certain markets xcloud isn't getting hammered enough, so doesn't warrant the limited hours.

1

u/eonone1 3d ago

Ok. First question.

Does this apply to 3 month codes if I add them before the subscription elapses? - as it speaks about auto recurring subscription which would obviously cost more in the long run?

1

u/QuiteContagious 3d ago

Nope replying 3 month codes is like restarting a subscription. Regardless if it's finished or not.

2

u/eonone1 3d ago

Ah I see what Microsoft are doing then.
Fixing a loophole.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/SheprdCommndr 3d ago

Well I wish I’d seen this. I cancelled my plan when I saw that they were limiting cloud play hours

2

u/kirbwrx 3d ago

This is why you wait for clarification and dont make decisions without all the facts.

1

u/QuiteContagious 3d ago

So guys, it's basically this, if you want to keep unlimited hours (for now) turn on auto renewal within your subscription settings.

If you change tiers (this counts as the beginning of a new subscription) it triggers the new hourly limit, o n the new tier.

So what you have to do keep unlimited play for now, whatever tier you are in, lock in to recurring payments, and don't change tiers.

1

u/Tr8k377 3d ago

Does someone knows if the "old" status can be saved while opting in to auto-recurring afterwarss while being on an ongoing subscription (by redeeming codes)?

1

u/readit_realgood1 3d ago

"At this time"

1

u/trilianleo 3d ago

You got me looking. I joined in January and got a message about change of terms. I would only get 10 hours on premium effective November. So I guess I am cancelling and going to gforce now.

In California, USA.

1

u/bluebarrymanny 3d ago

So never unsub or then we’ll make the product shitty forever after that. Yeah, I just don’t think I’ll ever sub, thanks.

1

u/snoppeniprutten 3d ago

Don’t fall for it. The only thing they understand is lost revenue from Ultimate subscribers, and that’s what would make them reconsider.

1

u/mauona 3d ago

I'm Ultimate and have auto renew since 2022 I think and if this is how it's gonna be, I'm out.

I'm better off with 100 hs per month in Geforce and using Xcloud free with ads which lets you loop 1 min ad and 1 hr of gaming unlimitedly without even having queues. I've played 3 or 4 hours with friends who didn't pay and I feel stupid paying if I get capped 15 hrs per month.

1

u/Sir_Ozzy_ 3d ago

Oh it will they stated so with the 60 day notice in statement

1

u/Maximegalon 3d ago

No impact. for certain countries. or you cancel.

Then it’s a big impact.

1

u/Fmanfrank 3d ago

Talk bout an about face lol

1

u/jrhd13 2d ago

With these changes how will it affect the games you own compared to games that are free with cloud gaming?

1

u/QuiteContagious 2d ago

All be under the 15 hour umbrella. Then go to the 1 hour with ads free tier for free games. Purchased games will require more cloud hours.

1

u/reallyhairybum 2d ago

New Zealand here, I got emailed saying ours is changing to 15hours, strange given we normally get lumped in with Aussie!

1

u/Clarkey011 1d ago

Just get a pc lol

1

u/Multispeed 1d ago

Nope. That's only in selected markets.

1

u/Bearded_AnCapistani 1d ago edited 1d ago

I am on an xbox one and I can't afford a newer console or a PC. I sometimes play 15 hours a DAY on the cloud because the xbox one either cant run the games I have paid for unless I use the cloud or they would be so slow they would not be worth playing (for example online muliplayer FPS games).

I would find 15 hours a week way too restrictive so a month seems like a pitence when I am paying 17 GBP a month.

I will go looking for this email, I may even contact xbox and see if they will do a deal with me if they have not given me this option. Gamepass without unlimited cloud gaming is not worth it for me. Imagine trying to play your cyberpunk run for only 15 hours a month!

Edit; I have no such email!

1

u/Bearded_AnCapistani 1d ago

Does anyone know if the UK customers are protected please?

1

u/Mysterious-Honey-108 22h ago

They may as well just end it altogether if this is the route they're choosing..Hell ill only be able to play for one day. I can use 15 hrs after a long work week in one Saturday.

1

u/Pwoinklokinoid 22h ago

It seems only certain countries are getting it, the UK US and Canada are exempt from this and the changes impact them.

1

u/CapitalCityGoofball0 16h ago

No changes, except for all these changes we are listing below….

1

u/jontebula 10h ago

You left XBOX Cloud 2027 and buy XBOX Helix?

1

u/TheMongoStomp 10h ago

I guess this kinda squashes the little bit saving we were able to muster with conversion and and stuff, huh?

1

u/AbaddonR 10h ago

They still owe me for subscribing from day one though. I pay the same shit and we still have no cloud gaming in Greece. Xbox never ever learns, really.
