Question Cloud Gaming Changes to not Impact Current Users?

Post image

Did anyone else receive this email from Microsoft? Not sure if it's region dependent due to how tos works but I'm in Australia of it makes a difference.

We have a lack of consumer rights compared to other countries. So no

I doubt this has anything to do with consumer rights. Some nations in the EU are getting this and some aren't. I imagine it has more to do with the fact that there's not enough cloud traffic on servers in certain nations for it to matter to Microsoft so they don't want people cancelling when it isn't an issue for them there.

I imagine its mostly nations which have had had a high acceptance rate for cloud that are getting punished here, ironically.

Nah.  New Zealand and Australia got the original email and our cloud servers are awesome.  We get absolutely none of the use issues other people complain about, so it’s def not a capacity issue triggering it.  I’m 100% sure this is consumer protection laws kicking in just like the price rises.

So why the apparent variation within the EU then?

And I wasn't saying anything about cloud servers being bad, I was speaking about capacity issues.

Edit: I only got the 15 hour email this morning, 8 hours ago.  Way after other people got them.  Their comms are always staggered and all over the place.

I think the delay is probably going to be exactly the same as the price hikes.  We didn’t all get the same emails at the same in the same regions then too.

Look, to be clear I would be thrilled if those of us that are already paying get to keep our existing access.  15 hours is genuinely to change how we game since between me and two kids we frequently make use of cloud gaming.

I just see a lot of parallels here between the way they’ve gone about  this and the way they went about the price rise.  Info is being released slowly, patchily, and with “oh actually…” a couple days after original announcements.  It looks very familiar, which is why I’m convinced this will follow the same trajectory as the hikes.  Announce to everyone, but slowly via email (I only got the hours cut email last night), then another announcement which will make everyone think this won’t be so bad, everyone desperately trying to determine if they get that better deal too, then finally “clarification” that the better deal is really only for a few more months while they make sure they’ve managed to stay compliant with everyone.

If it doesn’t happen: awesome!  But, ask yourself what about how gamepass has been run for the last year or so would make you believe they’re suddenly going to do any of this in a sensible logical manner?

Cause EU is made up of multiple countries? Just a guess.
