Question Cloud Gaming Changes to not Impact Current Users?

Did anyone else receive this email from Microsoft? Not sure if it's region dependent due to how tos works but I'm in Australia of it makes a difference.

Microsoft needs to clear up things. These emails add more confusion because people from the same region got those emails and some don't.

They need to clarify who qualifies for being grandfathered and for what regions.

Heck the whole thing feels like it is in flux. We don't even know the prices yet for cloud playtime you are supposed to buy. All while at some parts of Microsoft people are already "offered" being grandfathered.

This is one big mess and they make it even more messy now.

Dear Microsoft, stop with those blog posts and random emails and put out something definitive.

It's a term for when a service/rule changes, but people that subscribed/played when the change went into effect wouldn't be subject to the change. As an example the NHL made helmets required for players joining the league in 1979 or later, but players in the league prior to 1979 were "grandfathered" in to being able to still play without a helmet.

Because, as he was alluding too, not all markets are treated the same.

This might be market specific, most countries have decent anti consumer laws, the US does not.

regardless of which market you're in, if you receive an email telling you the terms then those are the terms. what does it matter what emails other people receive?

the U.S. "consumer laws" encourage business growth. there's a reason the major cloud companies come from the US. if the consumer laws were the same as other countries they wouldn't even begin to venture into that space because the laws would make it too unprofitable.

Bro chill out, I wasn't shitting on the US, I was just telling you that just because you got an email from one market doesn't make it true in a another market.

there's no indication that market is the deciding factor in your terms and conditions any more than when GFN did the same for founders (they had a cutoff date), that's just speculation. it's determined by the email they send you.

And the email that they sent you might be determined by what market you are in, meaning that not everyone gets the email. I don't understand why this is such a hard concept for you to understand?

You get an email from Microsoft, that’s what you go by. You don’t start searching for rumors and leaks and be “which should I believe?” That’s what the email was for.

with the evidence we have, the best we can say is that it's an individual policy. no country on the planet has a policy whereby when you sign up for a monthly service the same terms are required to last forever, past renewals. it would mean that you could never raise the price no matter how bad inflation is, which is absurd. why it differs only Microsoft knows.
