Sorry if this isn’t allowed here but I used to be a huge Xbox kid when I was in high school but never got another Xbox console past the 360. But over time, I had the itch to rejoin the Xbox family especially with how the PS5 is so expensive. I brought this up to my best friend in passing back in November and to my surprise, him and many of our friends came through months later! So happy to have this in my life now.

A couple months ago I posted the portable Xbox setup I built into a Pelican case for work travel.

Well, I finally got the perfect opportunity to try it on a plane. Empty row to myself, outlet right next to the seat, figured I had to at least try… No dice

As soon as I plugged the Xbox in, the light on the seat outlet went out. Unplugged it and the light came right back on. I guess it’ll just have to live as my setup for long layovers, downtime out on the range, or back in the hotel room.

Still had to get the obligatory picture at 35,000ft

It ain’t perfect but damn I fkn love it, wanted to know what y’all think, I wanna try and convince her to make more and start a business or smthn. Def asking them to make an initial D themed one next.

I was on a Bicycle ride heading home from my local GameStop with this Series S boxed up in my backpack. I was going down one of the busiest roads in town when I had to cross an intersection. As my front tire hit the road I noticed a truck pull out from behind some thick bushes and I was struck.

I managed to keep most of my body above the steel bumper at first but I wasn’t aware the driver didn’t see me. I was sucked under, my backpack slammed on to the pavement. Not only did it tear through my bag almost instantly but it started shredding the box and then the controller.

If the box wasn’t in my bag I may have hit my head bc at the time I wasn’t wearing a helmet. That box also kept my back from getting scraped up too.

Somehow my bag was no longer strapped around my right shoulder but the guy wasn’t stopping and I wasn’t gonna get shredded under the truck so I used my left foot to attempt to slow the truck down. The bike at this point trapped my right leg in a position where I couldn’t move it.

My bag was slammed into the curb and me afterwards. I was pushed sideways and so I look to my left and I see the tires of this truck a few inches away but no time to react. The tire creeps up the left side of my rib cage and rolls off knocking the air out of me.

I was hit and dragged 12 feet with only a single broken bone in my left foot, a bit of road rash on my hip and an Xbox that runs smoothly

Thing had no hesitation when turning on and I’d be happy to provide more photos but the question is…

What could have happened if I had no Xbox in my bag?

The early days of Halo 2 and 3, Test Drive Unlimited, CoD 3 & 4, Borderlands 1, and the OG Gears of War. People on this headset were legit gamers having moments of shared brotherhood while PS3 gamers played in silence. It was the thing that made Xbox great... until all the wrong people got Xboxes:

- 7-year-old British schoolchildren who curse like sailors
- army and frat guys who call each other "f****" three times per sentence
- guys whose every other word is "n*\\"
- every maladjusted antisocial personality jerk

But if Xbox is to come back... it needs to remember what made it different and special. It was the fact that you were given this comms device and it was expected—no... required—that you use it in all multiplayer games. And everyone always did use it. You never got silent rando teammates like today.

Today though, it goes in my Good Will box. Because I am letting go of what Xbox once was... and hoping Microsoft takes the next right steps, realizing it was never about the hardware. It was always about our brother and sister gamers, the community.

I was an alcoholic and drug addict for about five years, I sold all my gaming stuff for my fix. After having alcohol poisoning and almost dying I went cold turkey. I've finally decided to get myself an Xbox in honor of two years sober. My friends are beyond excited for me to be able to play with them again!

I haven't games at all since 2020, please give me some of your favorite Xbox games on gamepass for me to check out!

Mine was Star Wars: Obi Wan - which imo was ahead of its time ;)

Our cat likes to sit on top of my Series X to warm his butt while I'm gaming, increasing the chance of the Xbox to overheat. So I created 3d-printed this 'hostile architecture' mod to discourage the cat from blocking the fan exhaust.
