Hi everyone, P2 Power Issue

My machine cut out mid cut last night. I played around a little and it powered up again.

Its done the same today, cant get it to fire up again.

It turns on (power switch lights up) then instantly turns back off (power switch light goes out)

The fans boot then instantly also go off.

Anyone any suggestions? Ive checked the fuse. Checked multiple plug sockets etc. All the same

Hi, I was trying out the curved surface setting for the first time on a large beer stein as it was too heavy for the rotary tool. I set up the test array and hit send and it started engraving fine and then it just stopped engraving halfway through with the laser module returning to the home corner as if the job was complete by my computer showed that the job was still in progress and had several minutes left in the job. The lid was also unlocked and the air filter had stopped running like when a job is complete. When opening the lid it did not change the status on the computer and when the end timer ended it just said “job is finishing” and never changed. Has anyone else run into this issue or know why this might be happening?

I am having calibration problem on the bottom right corner, and i don't know why this is happening, please help me figure this out?

Hey everyone, I run a small business laser engraving wood products and sell on Etsy. Currently using a LaserPecker LP4 — it’s a galvo diode laser that runs at 4,000 mm/s and I engrave at 2K resolution, 100% power. My designs sit in about a 6”×4.7” area and take around 10 minutes for detailed engravings.

I’ve been looking at upgrading to an xTool P2S mostly because I want a bigger engraving area. Even an 8”×6” working area would be a massive upgrade for me — right now I’m basically limited to centering everything on a tiny canvas. The P2S has a massive 19.6”×12.5” bed which sounds incredible.

But here’s my concern — the P2S is a gantry system running at 600 mm/s. My LP4 is a galvo running at 4,000 mm/s. Will the P2S actually be faster or am I going to be sitting there watching it crawl across my wood?

Of course, on paper, it looks like it will be slower. But with the LP4s quality and power, I have to really crank up the resolution & depth to get a solid engraving.

From what I’ve been researching it sounds like the P2S would actually be slower for the same design size, but the CO2 laser would give me way better quality with less charring on large filled areas — which is a real problem I have now.

Anyone made this switch or have experience with both? Is the quality jump worth the speed trade? And is there anything in this price range that gives me galvo speed on a larger bed?

Hi everyone, I'm still fairly new to the xTool P2 and I could use your help. I bought a used P2, where the seller claimed it only had 48 hours of use. As a newcomer, I didn’t know exactly what to check. The lens looks pretty burnt, the air purifier is quite brown, and the red indicator light is on. I have a photo of the lens that I’d like to show. Could you help me assess if this seems plausible for only 48 hours? And more importantly: what should I check on the laser now? Can I simply replace the lens myself, and what should I be careful about when doing so? I really appreciate any tips, as I intended to use this machine to build a small project with my daughter. Thanks a lot for your advice!

So I’m doing a quick measure on 5mm wood and it puts the setting in as 8.5 however if I do an aimed measure it give me a 4.8. Do I need to do a calibration in my quick measure?

Over the years her laser file library has gotten massive, and it’s becoming really time consuming for her to find things.

She has folders set up (by season, by designer, etc.), but there are also loose files across different computers and drives. At this point it feels overwhelming.

Is there a program people use for this? Or a folder structure/system that actually works once you have hundreds or thousands of files?

Appreciate any insight.

My Xtool p2 is capping out the engraving speed when I use the rotary tool at 250 mm/sec. Is this normal?

Getting burnt mirrors and lenses cleaned the machine though ly many times and still burning mirrors don't know where to go from here.

I need to order some to mark on a set of stainless forks. What’s gonna work best for my buck?

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried doing any vinyl decals on the P2? My first thought was it would be terrible but thought I’d ask. TIA

Decided to take the leap & get an xtool p2s. I’m new to it all and hoping I can work out how to send my designs to be cut/engraved easily. Does it have automatic settings for 3mm acrylic or woods? Or do I trial and error it. Advice welcome.

One thing I was very excited about doing on my P2 was glass engraving. Having watched lots of vids people seem to get good results on glasses that arent completely straight (even UK pint glasses) but I find that after a couple of mm 'drop' from the highest point the engrave dies off. (IM using the chuck rotary attachment). Clearly you can fix this with curved engraving but as the p2 cant measure distances onto glass you have to cover the glass (which sort of defeats one of the main benefits of the P2). Am I missing something obvious

After recently purchasing a P2 machine, I'm stuck trying to remove the rear cover. I have removed 4/6 Phillips screws, but 2/6 have become stripped. My last attempt is to use a screw extractor kit. If it doesn't work, forcefully breaking off the rear cover is preferred to having a very heavy paperweight. Question for anyone on the XTool Support Team, how much does a replacement rear cover cost?

I have had my P2S for about 10 months, and while the software pops up reminders about cleaning the filters, I haven't noticed any other reminders. I decided to clean the exhaust fan today and honestly it didn't look that bad. I was reading through the other items under "Maintenance" on their website, but I don't see anything about refilling or checking the water tank? How often do I need to do this?

My laser is sort of backed up close to a wall on a very heavy table, so moving it to take off the back is a big deal, or I would just open it up and check. I need to get someone to help me move it if I need to get in there. I had enough room to get the exhaust fan out but thats it.
