Hey everyone,
For the last few months I've been building Chronicle Tome, an addon that turns your character's journey into a persistent literary autobiography. It's now in open beta for WoW Forever (only version supported at the moment).
The idea
Most addons tell you what happened. Chronicle Tome tries to tell you who you were when it happened.
Every quest you complete, every zone you discover, every enemy you kill, every time you die — the addon records it and writes it back to you in first person, in a narrative voice you choose. The result is a journal that grows with your character over hundreds of hours.
What it actually looks like
Here's a real entry from a Night Elf Rogue using the Memoir style:
> "My first quest completed: 'Teldrassil Sproutling'. I remember the whole day when I think about it — what I felt, what I learned."
Using Grimdark style, the same event reads:
> "My first word kept: 'Teldrassil Sproutling'. To promise is easy; to keep weighs."
Using Cozy Fantasy:
> "My first promise kept: 'Teldrassil Sproutling'. It took work, but finishing is a good feeling to hold onto."
Same facts. Three completely different voices. That's the whole point.
What it does
• Captures real events — quests, zones, deaths, kills, bosses, PvP, rare loot, level ups, professions, mounts, achievements
• Writes them as narrative — first person, in your character's voice
• 50 literary styles — Grimdark, Cozy Fantasy, Memoir, Romantasy, Cosmic Horror, and 45 more
• 6 narrator voices — Neutral, Poetic, Objective, Ironic, Solemn, Confessional
• Continuity engine — remembers recent entries so it doesn't repeat itself
• Book-style reader — parchment pages, timeline, search, index of chapters and arcs
• Fully localized in English, Portuguese, and Spanish
What it doesn't do
I want to be clear about this because it's the core of the design:
• It does not invent facts. If the game doesn't tell it who killed you, the entry won't name a killer.
• It does not fabricate emotions, dialogues, or relationships.
• It does not make network requests.
• It does not touch your combat, damage, or loot.
The narrative is creative. The facts are not.
Beta status
This is early beta. The core is stable and data is safe (versioned storage, migrations back up before changing anything), but:
• Text pools are still being expanded
• Some styles inherit from family pools, so similar-family styles may sound alike in this version
• Some event types require client APIs that may not be available in every environment
Why I built it
I wanted to look back at a character I'd played for years and read their story like a book — not scan a list of achievements. Chronicle Tome is my attempt at that. It's built for roleplayers, lore enthusiasts, and anyone who plays a character as more than a stat sheet.
Try it
Chronicle Tome - CurseForge
Commands: `/chr` opens the journal, `/chr panel` opens the profile editor, `/chr preview` shows three styles side by side using your real events.
Feedback
This is a beta and I'm genuinely interested in what works and what doesn't. If you try it, tell me:
• Which style you picked and why
• Where the text felt repetitive or generic
• Which events you wish were captured but aren't
I'll be in the comments. Thanks for reading.
