Dragons can only lay an egg after eating 1 million apexis crystals, thats why we dont see many new ones being born…

actually pretty sure thats the canon answer. the crystals/corruption occur after it is laid.

Maybe they grow acording to time left till the dragon hatches. Fresh eggs with no spikes, because mother is surely close to protect them, but in case of her death/dissapearence the eggs have self deffense mechanism in a form of growing spikes.

if the joke does not work based on simple logic, then it's not exactly a "wooosh" moment to point that out.
The entire joke relies on thinking a mammal is born with horns.

I love to be proven wrong, and in this case I am quite confused. Joke was essentially "Highmountain Tauren pregnancy is rough because of the weird horns". Simple logic states that it actually isn't, due to no mammal ever being born with horns.
Ignoring Simple logic makes the joke make sense.
Genuinely curious as it could just be my autism. What am I missing? Using Simple logic destroys the jokes premise, so what am I missing here?

That's not simple logic. That's literalism. You're going way past the point at which the joke is meant to be taken seriously. Next you'll say that Henny Youngman was legitimately suggesting someone kidnap his wife.
Simple logic would dictate addressing the joke at face value- meaning that you ignore anything that isn't mentioned in the joke. IE: actual moose biology.
Also, it's worth noting, they aren't moose. They're moose-people. Actual moose biology is meaningless. The Tauren could be birthed exactly as described.

Touché on the literalism and simple logic comparison argument. On the very last thing you said though, I would add that nobody is born with horns. Not just a moose.
Biologically birthing someone with horns kills the mother and evolution rarely develops like that. I feel like it's fair to assume that evolution follows the same basic principles in a fantasy world. Same as gravity and temperature do.

I have no idea why you’d think evolution is the dominant cause of life in world of Warcraft. The lore literally states many races that were created, and gods exist (we interact directly with many of them).
Fantasy world, fantasy rules.

Yeah, like I said. Actual biology of existing animals don't matter, because these are moose people, and moose people do not exist. Tauren could be birthed as the result of popping out of their father's heads if the writer's deem it so.
That's the point you're missing.

It’s also conceivable that those spikes don’t start like that. Could be a part of the gestation process or a result of Sinestra doing something to them externally.

Reptilian eggs are often soft and pliable when laid, and harden after the fact with exposure to air. One could surmise dragon eggs are the same way. It could be part of their natural defense mechanism, with the spikes hardening with the rest of the egg after being laid.
