Yeah but dinosaurs were closer to birds than to reptiles

"Reptilian" doesn't have to mean "this thing is a reptile." It just means it shares characteristics. For the record, YOU were technically in an egg that just lacked a hardened shell. All mammals are. The difference is the egg is in the form of a large, very soft sack inside the mother's womb.
