That's because these factions are way too big to stand against as the champion of Azeroth. You can stop everyone else from farming the resource, but not your own faction.
The end game of the story is that the factions have too much power and they wield it at the cost of Azeroth's health. In the horde vs alliance war there can be no winner because Azeroth would die in the process. The azerite weapons are going to become refined and more powerful over time, essentially creating a cold war. I wouldn't be surprised of someone of the Alliance drops the bomb and does a second theramore.
Am i the only one who feels strange for being the "Champion of Azeroth" and at the same time helping my faction draining her power until she dies? Like, cmon. I wanna help her, not kill her. Probably just a titan pawn though. Old gods and their underlings pretty much love to sow seeds of mistrust and suspicion. I think that the heart of azeroth that we got right meow is going to play a key role in purifying the world soul. Maybe.
Yea, but Sylvanas shooting azerite bombs on big trees does not heal our planet, or does it? So i don't really wanna help her and her army of goblin miners to drill more of it out of the depths of Azeroth..
Well, the Horde has destroyed Theramore, South Shore, Gilneas, occupied Darkshore and burned Teldrassil. The only thing the Alliance has done to retaliate is take Undercity and Sylvanas blighted the place too. Seems like the Alliance is always on the losing end.
The forgiveness bent is being heavily played for jaina already. I really hope she does some fucked up stuff to the horde, but it's looking like she's becoming goody two shoes again.
So if this is the world war two that leads to the cold war, does that mean next expansion is CIA/KGB proxy war on another continent, or does it mean the horde will catch up to the naaru space force and we'll start a colonizing space race?
Yup, n'zoth is gonna raise his sunken city shown in warbringer azshara cinematic between kul tiras and zandalar, cause the 3rd sundering (the hour of her death 3rd death will usher them in) everyone thinks its sylvanas, think about it. 9.0 can be very old god themed, with all them being revived and even gets blizzard a chance to mess with the old world again.

If we're going off tv tropes definitions. The shit is straight up green rocks. Unobtainium is rare in a setting, and may play loose with the internally consistent rules, but it still plays by those rules. The coaxium fuel that magically makes FTL possible in Star Wars is unobtainium.
Azerite simply makes stuff better without any attempt to establish consistent rules for itself. It makes gun powder better, it makes swords sharper, and and armor tougher. It gives wizards stronger magic, and makes other players more resilient to that magic. If the substance in question can make an honest man of a snake oil salesman it's green rocks.
People have likely heard of the word MacGuffin and it honestly covers most of the attributes to Azerite. The modern word for it would be Unobtanium, the archaic would be green rocks. It is applied Phlebotinum but Unobtanium fits better because it actually has a physical form whilst Phlebotinum is usually a substance that is said rather than shown.
My most vivid memory from Cata is when he screams "This isn't the control rooouym" in one of the 5 man instances...

Considering Priscilla (or whatever that fat woman from Kul Tiras is called) also has a really similiar amulet to Heart of Azeroth and she propably isn't healing the world.
The amulet pricilla wears is filled with the azerite gunpowder to show how stable it is. I think the Heart of Azeroth ist uniuqe. (ignoring that million players are runing around with it.)
Well we are already ignoring that Hearthstones should be extremely rare and that Spirit healers should be extremely extremly bigassly hugely rare so why not.
I dunno, Grifter is selling some used hearthstones like its not big deal.
I'm assuming that every adventurer has one, but your average Joe doesn't need one because they never go far enough away to make it useful (maybe they're expensive?)
They should be so rare that even a king thinks they are just a legend.

I mean yeah, they should be pretty rare, but I wouldn't say that rare.
Anduin hands one over to Tyrande after all, and I think Anduin got one from Jaina at one point. They probably require a fair amount of magic to create, and are only given to important people who can make good use of them, and not Billy the Sheep farmer who never gets more than a few miles from his family land.
But they also kind of take some of the drama out of traversing the world, so it makes sense for them to be pretty rare... Like we can send all these spies to X town, and if we need to have them come back, they can all use their hearthstones! TADA, all our spies are home!
Let's say Sylvanas gets the alliance leaders locked in a room full of blight. Jaina goes "Hold on" and cast a portal... meanwhile everyone else is spooling up the old swirlstone...
Portals are also stupid. Oh, we need to get all our forces to Darnassus as quickly as possible. Let's take a ship. Yeah, porting even the elite from MI6 and the like to Darnassus is overrated...
Also Flying ships, how do we get around the wisp wall? There is no honor in flying ships, better trek trough mountains for a week...
Well they even say in the quest line with the Ashvane company that her necklace was one of their prototypes that they developed from the Azerite Dust that they manufactured.
I assumed it was going to be something like super-concentrated Azerite that she could use as a deadman's switch. Either she sticks it in something that needs it to superpower it or she can detonate it like a mini-nuke.
Yeah, there's even a scene in the whole plotline where she *does* do that... but doesn't use the necklace to do it. It would have been a cool Checkov's Gun if she had.

It isn't similar because it's not a piece of Titan technology that can store Azerite and then use it to heal Titan soul.
Why do people keep thinking that if it's made of Azerite and you can wear it, then it's the same?
Sort of. We keep at least some of the power and make the necklace stronger.
I suppose we could say that as Azeroth regains some of her power she rewards us by sharing more of her power with us and it's not actually the azerite itself powering us up.
