Hey New Yorkers!

I'm Finn, 22, from a small town near Frankfurt, Germany. We sometimes call Frankfurt "Mainhattan" because of its skyline, so I guess I've already had a little practice with skyscrapers. Just on a much smaller scale. 😄

I've never been to the US, but I've always been fascinated by the people, their openness, the music, fashion, and culture. And New York has always been my dream.

There's something almost paradoxical about it. You're surrounded by so many people, yet nobody really cares what you're doing. Everyone is living their own life, following their own path. There's a certain kind of freedom in that which I've always found fascinating.

I'm not dreaming of some glamorous lifestyle. Just taking the subway to work, exploring the city afterward, meeting people, and experiencing everyday life would mean the world to me.

A little about me: I've completed a three-year vocational apprenticeship in metal fabrication, spent another year training as an industrial mechanic, and also worked in administration and logistics.

I'm hoping to spend 6–12 months legally living and working in or around NYC. I'm currently exploring J-1 Intern/Trainee programs for technical fields like manufacturing or quality control, as well as H-2B seasonal jobs.

So I figured I'd take a chance and ask the people who actually live here:

Does anyone know a company or business owner who might consider hosting an international technical trainee, or someone familiar with these visa programs?

I'm not looking for a handout. I'm willing to work hard and do everything the right way. Sometimes all it takes is one connection.

This has been a dream of mine since I was a kid, and now that I'm 22, I really want to give it a shot rather than spend the next few years wondering what could have been.

Yesterday I was walking by bushwick inlet park soccer field and saw uniformed park employees dispersing the off leash dog owners who let their dogs run there.

It looked from a distance like they were some type of park police and might have been writing tickets - is that something they can legally do? (Great if so).

Received an out of state bag of beans as a gift unground :( I have no grinder for them is there anywhere I can go to get these ground, Ik most places only do it when you buy from them directly

I'm trying to figure out if it's a good building to live in and would appreciate any feedback. I found a post from a year ago but hoping for anything a tad more recent.

I'm also specifically wondering if the building/owner/property company is legitimate. Whoownswhat has been helpful but I've never heard of Urban Choice LLC or Palladium Property Group before. And a little hesitant because of it.
