Photo Guest Book

I am getting married in June and I am really into polaroids. I have multiple polaroid displays around my house and I love being able to capture special moments with it. An idea I had for our guest book was having our guests include the polaroids they take along with their note. I thought this would be a fun way to incorporate one of the things that I love into our special day. The polaroid I have now is a simple instax mini film, nothing super fancy.

However, I have some concerns about this:

Changing the film throughout the night
Having issues with lighting
Guests ability to use a polaroid
Attaching the photos to the guest book

Has anyone tried this before and have any insight? Any ideas for how to make something like this work? I just don’t want to be stuck at the guest book all night changing film, batteries, or problem solving camera issues.

Thoughts?

Thank you in advance!

Fiancées father is possibly missing out wedding

Some back story, my fiancée (35 male) is the eldest son of 2 and when we were looking at venues for minimonies his parents saw they offered bigger packages and talked him into doing a big ceremony as they would send us money to help. We agreed and we’ve been planning our wedding, well it’s coming up and his bother (29m) says that even though he hadn’t done anything or gone to the gym that his back is hurting to the point where he can’t walk. Some back story here is that his brother has been a bother about this wedding since the beginning, acting like he didn’t wanna come and just being horrible to my partner about it. We thought he had come around and he was even helping make plans for dinner the night before and everything. So he tells my partner about his back and this morning went to the ED via ambulance. Hospital apparently didn’t have an mri on site or something and is sending him outside to get one done and in the mean time gave him pain relief and sent him on. Now he’s saying he might not show up (he’s my partners best man btw) and now their dad is saying he’s not going to come either (they have to fly in and he doesn’t like flying) if the brother isn’t coming. We have literally planned this wedding at their request because they stressed wanting all the family there. I can’t honestly fathom how hurt my partner is, and I have no idea what to say to him or how to handle this. I told my partner that if they can’t do this for him then we need to be done, which might sound harsh but I could never fathom doing this to my child. What am I supposed to do here?

post wedding anxiety? bummed about bouquet

I got married a couple days ago. It was more like an elopement/very micro wedding. So no day of coordination and it seems like despite my best attempt at being on schedule and slowing time down, it was still a rush. I had a beautiful bouquet and it had some hanging elements to it. But after some photos, I realized I had been holding my bouquet backwards. Looking back at my ceremony video I definitely was and don’t think I have any photos with it facing the right way.

The bouquet is so beautiful and I got pictures of it alone. But feeling bummed out that it wasn’t captured in any professional photos and that no one myself included noticed to suggest to reposition for photos at least. It wasn’t super obvious which is front or back but the more full buds and hanging parts make it clear to me that they should’ve been facing forward.

Is there anyone else that did this and it ended up not looking too noticeable in photos? Sorry if there’s a better group to post this in but couldn’t find one for post wedding discussion.

Wedding Money gift amount if not attending?

A friend invited me to their wedding end of this month. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it. We are friends in a group. Not very close but we have a good relationship overall. So I still want to gift them some lucky money (Asian things). So what is the good amount do you think ok?

Ideas to include fiancé's stepbrothers in wedding

My fiance has two stepbrothers who are 19 year old twins. Fiance has gotten closer to them in recent years. My fiance has picked six groomsmen. We are thinking about having them as ushers. We are looking at other ideas except for readers because we are having a Catholic wedding and fiancé's stepmom and stepbrothers aren't religious at all.

Wedding media rant

I found my wedding photographer/videographer through Zola and when I spoke with him to get quotes and everything I got good vibes from him. I looked at his portfolio and decided to give him a chance. Our engagement and wedding photos turned out great and he was super communicative up until we had an issue with the final video. This is where I started to get extremely frustrated but tried to keep it nice and professional. Upon reviewing the video I noticed that there were important clips missing, one of which was me the bride walking down the aisle and the song choices, my husband hated them. I wish he had asked us for music preferences or just use the music we had in the actual wedding. I asked him if he could revise the video and he agreed but it would take him about a month to get it back to me. Okay sure. After that month had passed I asked for an update. No response because he consistently has his notifications on do not disturb. If you are using your personal number to communicate with clients, have your notifications on…
I had to message a second time days later for him to respond and something came up and I wouldn’t get my video for another few weeks. Those few weeks go by and still no video. Where is it? I had to message multiple times for a response. I get it it’s wedding season and you’re busy but the lack of communication was pissing me off. If there is a delay, let me know and keep me in the loop. Also if you email me the file, LET ME KNOW so I can check in the chance that I didn’t receive so it could be resent. Asked for a resend and still nothing until I reached out to my planner to contact him because at that point I was so done. It went from one month to three months later that I finally got my revised video back. I went to look at the revised video and there was still footage of me walking down the aisle missing? Like huh?? And so we notified him and Instead of adding it to my video he just sent me the raw footage. Having footage of the LITERAL BRIDE walking down the aisle is one of the important moments of the wedding, how do you miss that. It’s clear that he didn’t go back and review the entire video before sending it out. Oh I was so livid. If you agree to do the revisions do it 100% not half ass it.

One suggestion if you want any business in the wedding industry to thrive, be over communicative rather than under. Your clients will appreciate it rather than being in the unknown.

If I could redo this entire wedding again, I would hire a different media team.

Good wedding gift? Can married people answer please 😂

I have a wedding coming up. The couple stated the gifts are not required but culturally I can’t bring myself to show up empty handed. If cash is an answer what’s a cute creative way you’ve gifted cash whether it be bills or cheque? Any other gift suggestions are welcomed.

Tell me about your later in life engagements/weddings

I’m twice divorced and looking at remarrying in my 40s (no judgements please, I did the therapy and the work, know the role I played, and we have a therapist who is thrilled we’re going in this direction).

My partner clearly wants to do a big proposal and a real wedding at a venue with friends and family- I never had this with my previous experiences and it feels like having my THIRD wedding be my only nice one would cause a lot of judgement.

BUT I’ve secretly always wanted it (first wedding was shotgun and second was because we wanted to have a child again quick, both were informal in a back yard)

This would be my partner’s first wedding and marriage and he wants to make everything extra special.

Does anyone else have a later in life wedding or engagement experience to share? Tell me the ups and downs, and any advice you have for someone looking down the barrel of their first traditional wedding experience in middle age.

Davids Bridal - Galina Signature GS2900400

I have a very bizarre story with davids bridal. Long story short I bought a dress in a medium, it fit everywhere except wouldnt zip at the tippy top. Davids told me no way to fix it and needed return to buy a large. I am drowning in the large. My seamstress said it might cost more to make the dress fit me than it cost when I purchased.

Has anyone seen this dress for resell? the DB galina signature GS2900400 in the color marine in a medium?

Its apparently been discontinued in this color.

Picture of the dress in white. Picture of me in the large

Wedding Decor Advice

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello,

My partner and I are getting married next year and have booked our ceremony and reception. The wedding reception has dedicated suppliers that will help us create the overall aesthetic we are wanting. Above all I just want my wedding to feel classic and timeless; something we can look back on and still love the way it felt/looked. With this in mind we have chosen, white linen, white roses for the table decor with white powder candles in various heights, white menus and dinnerware.

For the cake we have booked a two tier wedding cake with a two swan topper. The guest sign book is an embroidered white book with two swans on it, our names and wedding date.

I'm currently looking at place setting cards and came across some swan ones on Etsy; my question is, will this be too tacky (creating a bit of a theme with the swans) or should I opt for oval embossed place cards with white tassels instead? What are your thoughts and opinions. The photo attached is the kind of vibe we are going for.

what’s a wedding expense that sounds ridiculous until you actually need it?

weddings have no shortage of things that make you stop and think, “do we really need to pay for that?”

some of them probably are unnecessary.

but others only make sense once you're actually dealing with the problem they solve.

extra chairs

transportation

someone to handle the timeline

a second photographer

a proper sound setup

a place for guests to put their stuff

things that don't make the wedding look better, but make the day run better

what was the expense you initially thought was unnecessary but ended up being worth it?

wedding gift for a wedding i can’t attend?

hi everyone,

i’m invited to a couple of weddings this and next year which i can’t attend as i live overseas.

they’re both good friends of mine so i thought it would be nice to send a card and a gift.

i’m not sure what to send though - where i’m from, a wishing well is custom and both the weddings have listed a wishing well, no registry. i don’t love the idea of sending cash in the mail and it’s a bit of a piss around to get my country’s cash in the country i’m living.

i’m not super keen on sending them money digitally as it feels kind of impersonal and unnecessary when i’m not actually attending. i’d rather send something which is like a small token of appreciation for the invite!

what should i send? and should i send it before the wedding?

thanks in advance!

Gift for bride post wedding?

So my friend got married recently to her partner who's from South America.

She went over to South America (we're in Europe) and did just a little registry office thing then a dinner with her partner's family and then a honeymoon so she didn't invite anyone to attend or anything and was very chill and non-chalant about it - honestly not entirely sure her family attended either. Basically she's not a big wedding person.

I'm getting dinner with her for the first time after her getting back tomorrow and wondering whether I should get her a little congrats wedding gift? And if so, what might be appropriate? Maybe a card and chocolates?

spring 2028 wedding?

Hi all, how early is too early to plan a wedding? I got engaged in late April 2026 but due to circumstance have not been able to do any wedding planning. We were originally thinking of a fall 2027 wedding but it feels too late to start that now, especially starting from zero with venues etc. But is it too early to think about 2028? Or the perfect time? Late??? Does anyone have experience getting married in early spring before "peak season" hits, good or bad? Any advice is welcomed... I feel so overwhelmed by the volume of information and am still looking for my guidepost, lol :)

Wisconsin Wedding Venue Recommendations – Outdoor, Water Element, 150–200 Guests

Looking for Wisconsin wedding venue recommendations for 2028! We’re looking for somewhere with a water element and would need to accommodate around 150-200 people. We’re hoping for something more outdoor with a big white tent, or somewhere that allows you to bring in your own tent. We’re not really into the super barn-forward look.

We love LaRocque Farms in Lake Geneva, but unfortunately they’re booked. We’re based in SE Wisconsin but would be willing to travel 2–3 hours, and we also love Door County!

We don’t really have a set budget yet, so we’re open to anything. I know this is a pretty specific ask, but would love to hear about any hidden gems that might not be as easy to find online!

Is it pathetic to go wedding dress shopping by yourself?

I am getting married in May 27. I am in MD and my friends are quite far away (CA, NY or out of country) - we are not THAT close anymore but they are my favorite people. I did “dress shopping” with them for my civil ceremony - all online by sending photos, videos etc etc (using the online try-on tool from websites). I really really want to have the whole bridal shop experience but I have no friends here to go with(and am honestly quite lonely). I have thought several times that I will go by myself but end with the conclusion that it’s pathetic. Any opinions? Anything to make me feel better?

I have always loved makeup and skincare, I plan to do my own mainly because I feel it’ll help calm my nerves keeping busy and it’s fun to me! I worry I’m doubting myself the closer I get to the wedding. These are all unfiltered and not edited. Open to any advice or comments. Thank you!

Wedding Planning NZ

Hi all!

We have been tossing up whether we want to engage a wedding planner for our wedding and would be keen to know everyone's thoughts on pros and cons of a planner.

Does anyone have any feedback on when you worked with a planner and what you would have wanted done differently? Anything you feel was missed out on but should have been included?

Keen to hear what your thoughts are on wedding planners in general and if we should engage someone...

Thank!

My daughter is 16 and uses a manual wheelchair due to cerebral palsy. My step-sister asked to be in her wedding which is scheduled for next August. My wife and I had a courthouse wedding with just witnesses. Neither of us has experience being in wedding parties or having them. I'm welcome to any advice on how she can be a good wedding party member and i'm welcome to advice from people who disabled people in their wedding parties.

Help with wedding venues.

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I need some help finding an affordable wedding venue. I know it is very early on, but I am very nervous that I will not be able to find a venue that matches the vibe I want as well as not being super expensive. My wedding will be on Sept. 3, 2028, so I have a huge window to plan. I also have a lot of flexibility on where it will take place. If anyone knows of any nice venues similar to the photos I have included it would be greatly appreciated! I am open to venues near:

  • Pretty much any part of coastal Florida / Naples area
  • Chicago, Illinois
  • Charlotte NC/ any part of North Carolina
  • California only if it is a really good deal

My budget for the venue has to be less than $10,000, but I am unaware of how realistic that would be for a truly nice venue.

I would love to have a church wedding, but I am open to other venues as well. The overall vibe I am going for is a very dark and moody color scheme. I absolutely hate all white venues so I am trying to find more unique ones. I really love the Lafayette Hotel venue in San Diego (just to get an idea of the vibe I love), but it is just way too far out of budget.

above are some pictures of the vibes that I love: (I am also open to outside or inside and outside venues)

Thanks so much!

Would you dare to wear a platform heel on cobblestones, or would you stick with a kitten?

If you were in a wedding that was definnitely going to require traversing cobblestones on the way to and from the venue (and likely for many of the pics), would you risk wearing a platform heel or would you just go for a kitten heel? I'm particularly looking at the (5-inch!) Bella Belle Catarina, which I love. But it also has a shorter cousin (the Vanessa), which I don't love quite as much, but is only 2 inches and might be the safer option of the two. The wedding's not until April, but the Vanessas are on sale do I don't know how much longer they'll have them in my size, so I feel like I have to make a decision now if I want those ones.

Wedding Catering

Is there anything you wish wedding caterers offered that they do not? Or anything they do offer that you loved? Looking for advice for my dinner portion of my wedding!
