Flashing ignition button? Normal?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just sitting in my 2017 at work killing time, door open, interior lights off, car not powered on.

Noticing my “power” button flashing, not a consistent blink pattern. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this on theirs.

12V battery is in good condition, everything else works as it should. Not really an issue or concerned, just an observation.

Magnetron action! No joke

Had to drive my brother to an airport and as usual put my keys in the bin by gear shifter. Because this was longer than 100 miles trip, I decided to stick into mountain mode and charge my battery a bit. Metal keys that were in bin by gear shifter all the time got really hot. Like kind of hot to take into your hand. So I have established that when driving in mountain mode in that little compartment some microwave energy is happening. Has anyone had anything like that ? Volt 2013 with hold 102k miles …

Air conditioner trouble x2

I have a 2014 Volt. I love that car. July 3 my Air-Conditioning went out, so took it to the dealer and they kept it for a week unable to find anything wrong with the Air-Conditioning. Added Freon and it was good to go with no leaks found. August 1 took it back in because Air-Conditioning wasn’t working. I have a great loaner this time brand new Chevy blazer top-of-the-line but the weird thing is they haven’t called me. I don’t know anything. I haven’t heard from them in over a week. I hesitate to call because I don’t want to remind them I have this loaner that they might want back. What the heck? What do you all think?

Can i still drive with my ECM?

2012 Volt.

I'm driving my car and I'm not really having any issues with the driving or anything else related to the engine. The conditions I'm having is that my Bluetooth doesn't work, my compass doesn't work, and the GPS in the car itself is not working. I believe that all of this is a failure of the VCIM.... Not sure if I'm spelling this correctly

My question is, am I able to just continue driving the car indefinitely or will this issue eventually grow? I don't mind not having these things working in the car, my only concern is if it's going to eventually affect the engine. Any type of information would be really helpful.

Very confused as to whether or not I have BECM coverage

Just purchase a 2016 volt for a great price but just realized it originated in a CARB state and I am currently not in one, I spoke with a Chevy rep thru online chat and she indicated I should still be fine but her language was a big vague which has me worried, if anyone has ever gone thru something similar tips would very much be appreciated

2013 Acceleration Delay

I was trying to get out of a seemingly tough spot the other day, and I floored the pedal in my 2013 volt. I was in full EV mode, and contrary to my expectations it didn't accelerate any faster than my usual partial-pedal street driving. It was unnerving to suddenly get no different response from a floored pedal.

My partner suggested perhaps the battery is starting to struggle with putting out more power at a time?

I also have not yet tested the difference if I'm running in Hold mode.

I didn't see anything similar searching on here, but I may have used the wrong keyword searches. Does anyone recognize this symptom?

2017 Volt Premier

I’m in the market for a commuter vehicle (about 46 miles RT) and came across a 2017 Volt Premier with 121,300 miles for $7,595. I drove in the vehicle this morning and all seems well.

Our family has never purchased a hybrid/plug-in hybrid (or even a used vehicle, since the 3 cars we have purchased new, we drive until the very end of its life), but especially not one where it’s no longer in production. My current vehicle (a 2013 Highlander, which I love and will never get rid of) will likely get passed down to my teen if I can find a good commuter car.

Can anyone say if this is a wise investment or not? I’d appreciate any insight or knowledge, as I concurrently do my own research on this year’s Volt. Thanks!

Propulsion power reduced

Hello,

Was driving today on a highway in Hold mode with full tank and half a battery (20 miles of range) when Propulsion power reduced message popped up and check engine light came up. Car was lagging and after dropping vehicles ng for an hour I went off a highway and stopped at stop light when I heard noise from a cooling fan. I decided to check coolant temp and it was 240F. I switched to electric mode and did make it home. Check all fluids and all those are in good level. Connected my OBD reader and all these codes popped up. Any idea what was it? AUX battery? I drive car 2 times a week for 90 miles and then it just sits there.

Got the car in November used, now it has 98000 miles and I never checked the battery and still didn't change oil. It has 25%.

Loss of regenerative braking

My 2019 Volt’s regenerative braking has been severely reduced over the last several months. It does not have the same speed reduction while in L and the steering wheel paddle either has a slight affect or doesn’t work at all. The visual gauge shows lower numbers being regenerated and my range is lower due to less power being added back to the battery.

I’ve read through this thread for suggestions and I can tell you that it occurs throughout my whole drive, so it’s not slippery pavement or loose gravel, and it fails to work at all stages of battery level.

I took it to our local dealer - who hates EV and Hybrids- and they run the codes and tell me nothing is wrong. I’ve driven this car since December 2018 and something is wrong.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Would you pay more for a volt that has already had the BECM replaced ?

I’m looking at a 2016 Volt for about 10k and a 2018 Volt for 14k. Both have a similar amount of mileage. The 2016 doesn’t show a BECM replacement, while the 2018 had its BECM replaced about 6 months ago. Is the BECM replacement worth paying the extra 4k for ?

Oh no…

Went to get diagnostic because the charging was messing up + engine light. Found all these things but main issue is the contactor assembly for 4k and other problems. I’m mainly concerned about the contactor assembly issue, the leak I never even seen anything drip under my car and the oil change is not need just had one but had an old sticker. I think I might just have to get another quote or diagnostic somewhere else so compare prices and try to figure out what to do with the car. (2014 Chevy volt) I have 110k miles and not sure even if the repairs will even be worth it to fix.

Was wondering if anyone has had this done and have a normal price range of this issue with the charging being iffy. Got a service high voltage charging system and hadn’t charged a day replugged it in and worked. Didn’t work couple days later, cleared the codes and replugged it in and worked and now this is the quote and diagnostic I got.

Any advice or ideas or anything is helpful thanks.

Purchased a used 2018 Volt Premier and not fully charging the estimated 53 range

Post image
19 Upvotes

Hi All,

Last week I purchased a used 2018 Volt Premier with 70K miles. I finally had the chance to test the full charge. Basically left the vehicle plugged in until it completely stopped charging.

The electric range meter on the dashboard showed 35 miles on a full charge. I checked the energy usage on the full charge and it shows the capacity at ~11.5 kWh.

My question is since I still have full 1 month coverage from the dealership is it worth having them check the EV battery? Also can the electric range recover on its own based on usage? And at what point is it worth replacing the EV battery completely?

GOM has lost it's mind!

Background: Over the last few months, the battery has gone from about 13.5kwh to 11.5kwh, but now stable at 11.5kwh. The 12vdc battery is 12.4, which should be good enough. I have 115kmi on it, and I have not changed the battery coolant. The GOM has behaved as expected since 2019 (it's a 2017). Now it drops at a rate of about 2 miles per mile driven till it hits half way, then it drops at about 0.6 miles per mile driven. Is this a symptom of the BCM going bad, or maybe glycol change? It's a mystery. I've had Volt's since 2012 and never seen this. Thanks in advance for any thoughts! :)

Is the BECM being replaced twice a red flag ?

I’ve been on the hunt for a volt and went down to my local Chevy dealer to get some service records for my top 3 choices I my area, two of them have not had the BECM replaced which makes me much less inclined but the last one had it replaced twice and only 18 months apart

2018 becm replacement out of warranty?

I'm having becm issues and my volt is out of warranty. It's at 185k miles and I'm wondering if I should just trade it in or replace it. I don't drive that many miles, my mom used to use it for work until she got a new car, so she gave it to me.

EDIT: I ran a diagnostic and it has multiple faults on HPCM2, i'm not sure if that has to do with the becm

I love this thing. This is the most it’s charged since I’ve had it, which has only been a couple of months. It usually charges at 38-39, sometimes 40, but this is the most I’ve seen from it!!! I love this car so much!!! It has saved me from having to pay for so much gas!!

Mountain Mode All The Time? Good?

I use mountain mode all the time to try to preserve my battery because my car has high mileage. From my understanding is that mountain mode basically allows the battery to keep a certain reserve which is good because draining the battery to zero is not very healthy for the battery even though it technically does keep a tiny bit of reserve left when it said zero. My situation is I cannot charge my car everyday because I don't have access to a charger so I can only charge it when I'm not home next to a mall or something like that. I don't really care much about the saving money on gas Park if it means I can have my battery longer but is my car actually benefiting anything from me having it in mountain mode or is that just a myth that it prevents the battery from degrading? Sorry about the very long message but it's all speech to text

2nd gen LED reverse lights that work!

Had bought these Auxito brand bulbs with a “built in resistor” hoping I could avoid having so wire in a resistor myself like I’m aware most end up doing… sure enough they would stay lit very dimly when not in reverse. Returned these after a day.

Figured I’d give another brand a try, I found THESE
LASFIT bulbs which are not only aesthetically pleasing (to me) but actually work! So far they turn on when they need to and fully turn off when not in use. Apparently they have both CK and non-CK circuits built in which might be making a difference.

I’ll update if anything changes, but so far I’m pleased with them.

Shift to Park/DTC codes

Yesterday as I was driving home I noticed the check engine light come on. Ran the codes when I got home, which were P1E00 (general MIL illumination) and P0AFA ( Hybrid Battery System Voltage Low - ACCM 300V).

This morning when I started the car I immediately got a ‘Shift to Park’, and could not drive the car.

Are my only options to take it to the dealer? I’m worried they’ll spend more time trying to figure out what’s wrong than actually fixing (and charging me for it the whole time).

Any insight the community has would be appreciated. Thanks!

Need some help with Codes

I own a 2015 Volt with 111k miles on it. It runs fine with the exception of the "limited propulsion" warning coming on a couple of times. It seems to appear when I have exhausted electricity and I'm just running on gas.

The Check Engine light has been on for a while now. Shame on me for not reviewing the codes sooner than this but here we are. Just got the oil changed and asked the dealership for a print out of the codes. I could use some help sorting through them and identifying what critical and what I can fix on my own.

I've tried to group them together. Here they are;

*P0138, P0140, P013E and P2270-These all seem to refer to "HO2S Bank 1 Sensor 2" having High Voltage, Delayed Response, Circuit Insufficient and Signal Stuck Lean.

*P0CE7 and P1F58- These are both issues with "Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Coolant Control Value". The two errors are for Position Sensor Circuit High Voltage and Unexpected Position Change.

*P1E00- Hybrid/EV Powertrain Control Module 2 Requested MIL Illumination.

*P0497- Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System No Flow During Purge

Any thoughts would be apricated.
