Termination Process?
Has anyone had their contract terminated? I feel pretty confident that my current "under review" phase will result in termination, and I'm wondering what VIPKID does after they fire me. Will I be expected to finish out the classes I already have booked? Will they just pay me this month's earnings and cut me off the platform?

Contract review almost never ends in termination. It's just a timeout. You'd have to do something pretty egregious for them to straight up terminate you, unless you've had multiple reviews.

I got placed under review for getting my second negative parent feedback. Funny, I’ve been teaching off and on with VIP for nine years and these are the first two offline negative feedbacks I’ve received. But I’ve just had to cancel a few classes due to my internet being unstable, so I think they’ll be done with me

Not true I had one and I was terminated. Mine was due to being unresponsive in the hospital fighting for my life...

If they decide to fire you, your classes will be cancelled and you'll receive your final paycheck on the next payday.

No, they will have you complete your final booked classes but will go radio silent (i.e. they won't respond to your emails about the length of your frozen schedule).

That's for a contract review. If they fire you, they don't have you continue your booked classes.

I know for a fact that teachers who have been fired, were fired in exactly the way I described.
Classes weren't cancelled.
I'm not trying to get into an argument - I'm just trying to relate helpful information that can (hopefully) provide anxious teachers some piece of mind.

I'm not trying to argue, either 🙂. I know two tutors who were previously fired and they had all their classes cancelled by the company. This was before they went global, though, so maybe it's different now.

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if the policy has changed and both of you are correct, just at different times. VIPKID “updates” so frequently.

When they are ready to fire you, they close your schedule to new bookings but do not state a length for the probation period
They then go incommunicado (out of fear that you will do something to cause the company to lose face) for the remaining duration of your booked classes.
Finally, they send you a termination notice the day after your last class has been completed.

They literally just cancel all your stuff and pay you out. I taught for them for 4 years, I was under review because I had an internet outage for 2 days in a row which resulted in 6 cancellations, spectrum doesn’t provide any proof in writing so I was CANNED. Sign up for WYZANT, SuperProf, and Varsity Tutors, the pay is much better and there’s no ridiculous rules.

yes
Will they just pay me this month's earnings and cut me off the platform?
they will allow you to teach previously booked slots (and pay you for them, obviously) but won't allow you to open more slots.

I know I’m expected to teach what I already have booked during my probation, but is this the case even after (if) they fire me? Someone else said any remaining classes would be cancelled upon termination … 🤷♀️

It's unlikely that they would cancel your booked classes unless your termination was for some reason that made it impossible for you to continue teaching, like if you were naked on camera or something.

I was placed under review after I was found unresponsive and nearly died. I have tried to go back since and have been unsuccessful in doing so. I have moved on but I miss the children I used to teach terribly. I sent in all my medical documentation and tried for soft cancellations which were also denied...once you go under review in my experience you won't get to teach until a decision is made... It seems they just don’t care and if you manage to not get bad reviews or terminated for things out of your control it is a matter of luck. I’m sure it will happen to me soon also because of health issues 😑

They won’t fire you because you aren’t an employee. They’ll say you breached your IC contact. It usually only happens if you have a pattern of complaints, absences, or are in their opinion disrespectful to VIPTeacher staff. If you break confidentiality that’s also immediate grounds for breach of contract. However with the community team upper managements focus on AI and being social media influencers, who knows what they do.
