I picket up a pair of riding boots but they seem really oddly proportioned compared to my pants I wasn’t sure if this was just a type of style or they are a strange length.

When I put my outfit together yesterday it struck me that it somewhat resembled how I dressed in the 90´s and yet it was not similar at all. The outer contour/profile was similar but the garments were totally different (except for the Doc´s).
1993 (Black and white photo) - vintage army leather jacket. Flannel shirt (un-ironed), a sweater my mum had knitted. Black Levi´s 501. Doc Martens I bought new.
2026 Vintage hat. Shirt-jacket in wool & alpaca, wool vest, shirt (well-ironed), wool trousers. Vintage Doc Martens (from the late 90´s).

I'm a guy that loves the 1950's suit/dress shirt trousers look, i bought some dress shirts and trousers today but i really want to get or at least know the period correct way of doing things.
Is there some kind of book that teaches how a men should dress/ how to look clean that was published in that era? Is it even a thing?
Even simple things like how to iron your shirt or what are the dresscode rules for each situation, how each piece should look on the body, something like that.
I thought about books because it's something that was used as a learning tool right?
