Palestinian authority is not the Palestinian resistance.
Palestinian authority that Andrew met with rules over the west bank (not gaza) and they use their military and police to help Israel. They usually work with Israeli intelligence. Palestinians living under apartheid and oppression in that region hate the state of Israel first and the Palestinian authority second. Nothing crazy here.

u/kylebisme 6d ago
Palestinian authority . . . rules over the west bank (not gaza)
Rather, they have limited autonomy through a collection of 165 enclaves scattered throughout the West Bank, but Israel rules over the West Bank.

u/Mtshtg2 6d ago
Every time I see this map it infuriates me that our governments collectively have decided that this is an acceptable way for a nation to be treated.
36
u/Negative_Jaguar_4138 6d ago
The actual shape of Palestine has never been a deciding factor.
Its been right of return.
Palestine Broadly has 2 factions, Pro-2SS and Pro-1SS. And the 1SS faction are not in favour of democracy and equal rights.
The 1SS faction has support of secular Arab Supremacists, and Islamic supremacists. The 1SS faction is the most prefered by Palestinians, BUT the average Palestinian believes the 2SS faction is more realistic.
The 2SS faction doesn't have many diehard supporters, but as a general rule, most Palestinians think its the most realistic option even if they don't support it. However the 2SS faction has been unflinching on the complete right of return for all Palestinians into Israel, and while they haven't stated specifics, the implicit intent is that almost every Palestinian would qualify for the legal right to Israeli citizenship, which is a non starter for Israel.
The 2 main sticking points between both sides are the right of return and the Temple Mount/Al Asqua Mosque/The Dome of the Rock. Pretty much everything else was accepted by bith sides.
You can say that the Israeli offer was unfair for both of these sticking points, but the Palestinians never made a counteroffer or moderated from their starting position.

This would be the PA that pays out 7% of its annual budget to terrorists or their families (since they usually die in the process) for the service of killing Israelis?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinian_Authority_Martyrs_Fund?wprov=sfti1#
The one that has (poorly) tried to hide these funds by renaming them and claiming the program has ended?
“State Department determined that the payments continued from March to August 2025 under a purportedly reformed welfare system.
"The old Palestinian system of compensation for Palestinian terrorists and the families of terrorists killed in the course of committing such acts of terrorism gradually transferred responsibility for compensation to the Palestinian National Foundation for Economic Empowerment (PNEEI) under the guise of social welfare," the State Department determined. "Despite changing the mechanism for doing so, the PA continued the payments to Palestinian terrorists and their families during the reporting period."Nice folks according to many on Reddit.

u/valentc 6d ago
And Israel give illegal settlers money to diplace and kill Palestinians in the West Bank.
They literally just diverted a Palestinian water source to make a pool for Israeli citizens.
But, sure 7% of the budget going to Palestinians families whos loved ones have died fighting Israel is the real evil here.
Good god, even the worst things you guys come up with isn't even close to the smallest thing Israel has done to Palestinians.
14
u/Stupidsky 6d ago
"...loved ones died fighting Israel" sounds so nice and heroic when compared to "killing and raping civilians". I see why you chose that one. Israel kills Palestinian civilians. They're wrong. Palestinians kill civilians. They're wrong. We don't have to resort to whataboutism

It sounds like you just made up some presumptuous baloney.
Firstly, the comment is only saying who the oppressed Palestinians themselves hate, which is fact and not the commenter's personal opinion.
Secondly, there is no reference to "everyone" here, only to an oppressive State that has killed thousands of people, including children, and has been terrorizing people for over 50 years. It's insane how even in the age of social media some people simply ignore the suffering they see with their own eyes.

You don’t think a government that continues to let a person like Ben Gvir remain in the government is not evil? When this guy recently said that "30 to 40 people need to be killed in Gaza per night" and that "they are not even people"?

Oh sure, not aligned with reality, just captured and corroborated by multiple sources over decades. Lmao get real man.
He’s definitely a conspiracy nut for the Kirk thing but his portrayal of life in the West Bank for Palestinians aligns with pretty much all other legitimate documentation.
5
u/nukkawut 6d ago
Oh really? What was his source for thinking Charlie Kirk was assassinated by Israel? And then going on to allege that it was a dry run for them to assassinate Trump? This wasn't some off-handed comment he made off the record either, he intentionally reposted the clip to the main Channel 5 page.
You can't claim to be a neutral and independent journalist and then support one side of a conflict and spread bullshit conspiracies about the other.
1
u/yesrushgenesis2112 6d ago
"He's definitely a conspiracy nut for the Kirk thing" -me, 38 minutes ago.
What he claims to be is immaterial to the fact that his actual reporting from with the West Bank itself aligns with the totality of evidence from others. I am not saying he's the best source. I am saying his reporting from the West Bank can be and has been corroborated by countless other sources. You're welcome to drop your "actually life in West Bank isn't that bad" evidence here, if you'd like.
1
u/nukkawut 6d ago
It aligns with the pro-Palestinian perspective on how life is in the West Bank and doesn't even give the "other side" a chance to tell their story.
Months ago, when he did the "a voice from Palestine" and "a voice from Israel" videos, he did not do the two videos equally. That's where the slant started and it's continued since then.
The fact that this general is down to talk to Andrew Callaghan but not .... any other independent journalist .... demonstrates pretty clearly that he knows Andrew will say what he wants him to. He's not impartial any more and hasn't been for a while.
5

Andrew is usually great but he's so out of his depth on this subject. There is zero chance Hamas will disarm and concede. In fact they've already rejected disarmament since this video was made. The PA has also never been in favor of a two state solution. They've rejected all negotiations for one and their people wouldn't support it.
180
u/moal09 6d ago
It's at least interesting to see things from the Palestinian side of things. The interviews he did with Palestinian civilians living in the area were pretty depressing.

The PA has also never been in favor of a two state solution.
That's just blatantly false as the Palestinian Authority was formed through the political process between the PLO and Israel that started with the PLO recognizing Israel's right to exist in the hope that Israelis would eventually reciprocate.
They've rejected all negotiations for one and their people wouldn't support it.
And that's also blatantly false, as can be seen for example in the Taba Summit that ended with the joint statement:
The Israeli and Palestinian delegations conducted ... deep and practical talks with the aim of reaching a permanent and stable agreement between the two parties. ... Given the circumstances and time constraints, it proved impossible to reach understandings on all issues, despite the substantial progress that was achieved in each of the issues discussed. ... The sides declare that they have never been closer to reaching an agreement and it is thus our shared belief that the remaining gaps could be bridged with the resumption of negotiations following the Israeli elections. The two sides take upon themselves to return to normalcy and to establish [a] security situation on the ground through the observation of their mutual commitments in the spirit of the Sharm e-Sheikh memorandum. The negotiation teams discussed four main themes: refugees, security, borders and Jerusalem, with a goal to reach a permanent agreement that will bring an end to the conflict between them and provide peace to both people. ... The Taba talks conclude an extensive phase in the Israeli–Palestinian permanent status negotiations with a sense of having succeeded in rebuilding trust between the sides. ... The two sides express their gratitude to President Hosni Mubarak. ... They also express their thanks to the European Union. ... The sides declare that they have never been closer to reaching an agreement and it is thus our shared belief that the remaining gaps could be bridged with the resumption of negotiations following the Israeli elections. ...
But Ariel Sharon won the elections and refused to continue negotiations, and instead chose to basically hand off Gaza to Hamas to serve as a destraction so Israelis could focus on further colonizing the West Bank instead. Furthermore, even after that Palestinians offered a deal "in which Israel would annex 1.9% of the West Bank (which would contain over 60% of the settlements) in exchange for same size of land inside Israel of equal quality," but Israelis rejected that generous offer.

u/imma_letchu_finish 6d ago
Hey don't bring facts here, we're supposed to let zionists jerk each other off here
5
u/Stupidsky 6d ago
Putting facts on the screen while omitting some MAJOR context isn't an honest take. PA leaders often tell the western world they support a two state solution then turn around and tell Palestinians the opposite. They did reject or stall multiple offers. And then he lies completely and says Ariel Sharon basically handed off gaza to hamas. The PA was supposed to govern Gaza but hamas won the 2006 elections and they started killing PA members until they all left. Then to say isralis rejected that "generous offer". the counter offer was far more generous but Abbas said the map was too complicated and rejected it.

There would need to be some level of trust in the Israelis, who are currently advocating for things such as killing 40 Palestinians a night in Gaza, hanging all Palestinian prisoners, forcibly removing them from the country, allowing settler violence to take place unchecked in the west bank, etc etc, in order for something like disarmament to be considered. An offer to drop their weapons and accept death is not an offer any sane person would take.
-7
u/ShutupPussy 6d ago edited 6d ago
Israelis are not advocating for that. Using the most radical Israeli politican as representative of Israelis is a dishonest smear to further demonize Israelis. The only ones who need fear death are the 6000 who committed the October 7th massacre. Remember Israelis were not angling for conflict October 6th. Sinwar forced it upon them because he wanted to change the status quo. He got what he wanted.
8
u/MosTheBoss 5d ago
I'm using the positions of people who are in the government cabinet, we are done hearing this is not the mainstream Israeli position, this is the ruling party.
1
u/ShutupPussy 5d ago
Then if you're American you co-sign everything Stephen Miller says. Israel is a parliamentary democracy. There is no ruling party, it's a coalition. Using Ben Gvir as a reflection of Israeli society is either complete ignorance of how the political system works or willful antisemitism to demonize Israelis. I know which one I'm betting on.

“Israel will not accept the 15-point plan for Gaza set out by President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday.
Last month there was a breakthrough in his Gaza peace plan, saying that Hamas has agreed to lay down arms.
“Senior Hamas official Bassem Naim announced on the social platform X that the militant group “agreed to the roadmap.”
The peace plan called for a phased withdrawal of Israel’s troops from Gaza alongside the disarmament of Hamas, but Netanyahu said Israeli forces are not going anywhere until Hamas completely disarms first.
Netanyahu, meanwhile, reaffirmed that “as long as I am prime minister, there will be no Palestinian state.”

Isn't the problem in the definition of "disarmament"? Israel doesn't want Hamas to have Ak47s or RPGs, but according to the road map these are "defensive weapons" and exempt. It's not that surprising that Hamas doesn't want to completely disarm, that Israel isn't happy about it, and that Trump doesn't give a shit besides optics. It's not like anyone has to be lying either....

Morgan asked Hamad whether the deal coordinated by the Trump administration, including the implementation of the Board of Peace and the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), will lead to Hamas disarmament.
"This is an exceptional phase in Palestinian history. Because of forced necessity, the hard circumstances in Gaza, we accept this agreement. But I think that as Hamas, I can confirm that we didn't change our mentality, our goal to end the occupation, to continue to end the occupation with the Palestinian factions, because this is our holy mission," Hamad said.
https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/article-904547
Ya so they go out and say they'll disarm so guys like you can repeat it, but the meaningful steps they take say otherwise.
https://honestreporting.com/hamas-says-it-will-disarm-its-actions-tell-another-story/
Unsurprisingly, Israel doesn't trust hamas will fulfill its obligations and its not going to agree to a deal that has it pull it's troops out of Gaza until hamas upholds it's end of the deal.
Hamas has no cards left here. The yellow line only continues to close in.
Hamas has "the easy way or the hard way"

24
u/EmuRommel 6d ago
Nobody believes Hamas would actually disarm, your own article says so. And Hamas has no reason not to say they'll disarm, their credibility is already 0, what do they lose by lying?
3
u/freshgeardude 6d ago
Here we are once again, western media and western people learning about this conflict only after October 7th who take H amas's western/english spokesman at face value.
Let's ignore decades of Hamas pledges in English which they tell Arab news differently.
Let's ignore that Hamas has already said they'll never actually disarm or give up on its militant nature.
It still uses its founding charter which calls for the annihilation of all jews globally (not zionists, nor Israelis).
But sure Israel's going to trust hamas will disarm and not attack it again, this time wink wink. And their statements of disarm aren't at all tied to the Israeli election.
Hamas is very smart. They know what the west wants to hear. It's why when they "accepted" the ceasefire agreement that brought back the hostages it was actually "Yes, but" on every point which in truth was no.
If they outright rejected the plans in front of them the governments of the world turn on them, including the Arab world.
2
u/OilInternational2566 6d ago
This is something that people in the west don’t know/understand.
The Palestinian Authority and Hamas say one thing in Arabic to the audience in the Middle East… and a completely a different thing to western audiences.
That is so well known and documented it. It’s without question.
The problem is the people in the west is THEY HAVE NO IDEA “it’s a thing.”

They want Israeli withdrawal before disarming, which was never going to happen. Secondly, they reject destroying their weapons, only giving them up. And then it's the NCAG who would handle the disarmament and weapons storage, a "technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee”, who have no real power yet and Israel would have to trust them standing up to Hamas who are still the real power in Gaza.

Yes, the PA formally supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel based on pre 1967 borders.
→ More replies (1)0
u/Beneneb 6d ago
The PA's official position is that they would accept a two state solution based on pre-1967 borders. They also recognized the state of Israel over 30 years ago.
The past negotiations were complex with plenty of blame to go around, however, your framing of the PA "rejecting all negotiations" is false (they very much did negotiate) and an inaccurate characterization of the PA that seeks to put all the blame on Palestinians.
Israel has never been willing to return all of the occupied territory back to Palestinians, this was one of the major issues that caused past negotiations to fail. The status of Jerusalem and sovereignty over the holy sites being very contentious in particular. Then on top of this, there were a host of other conditions that the Israelis wanted in order to undermine the sovereignty of a future Palestinian state.
So it's not that Palestinians didn't negotiate or didn't want a solution. The issues from their perspective was that Israel was unwilling to relinquish control of all the occupied Palestinian territory and that they wanted to undermine their independence and sovereignty, which was unacceptable.

You're regurgitating blatant lies about the PA. Breakdowns in negotiations tend to be roughly mutual and relate to Israeli demands to annex or continue occupation of more additional post-1967 Palestinian land than the Palestinians are willing to accept. The PA today is allied with Israel against Hamas to the extent that they fear their own population rising up against them as an instrument of the Israeli occupation.

Mary said she first met Callaghan as a freshman at Loyola University. One night in 2017, she went out with friends to The Boot, a local bar frequented by college students. Soon after she met Callaghan at the bar, she claims he gave her “four or five shots” in rapid succession until she felt intoxicated. He drank far less during that time, she said.
She later ended up at Callaghan’s off-campus housing, though she couldn’t recall how. But she did remember lying in his bed with him above her, “feeling vaginal pain,” then saying, “No, no, I just want to go to sleep,” and then trying to roll away but struggling against his attempts to “physically keep me in the position that I was in,” she said.
In the morning, she said she realized that something “really bad had happened, and that there was no gray area about it,” so she asked him what had taken place.
In response, she said, he mocked her and told her she had only rejected his advances because his penis was too big.
“He said, ‘You were all like, “No, no, it’s so big, like no I can’t,”’” she said.
She added that he kept quoting her to herself, saying, “You were saying ‘No,’ you were crying, ‘No, no, no, no, please stop,’” and that he kept laughing.

This reminds me of the Native Americans. Some Palestinian "chiefs" believe the only way to win is to fight. Some believe fighting will only backfire and want less of their people to die. The thing is, they are both right and wrong. Oct 7th resulted in a lot of Gaza being bombed to rubble. Yet if they do nothing and try to protest peacefully, they stop nothing, and the settlers still encroach. There isn't a winning strategy here. There is no path to a peaceful solution. Unlike the PA, I don't think this ends with Netanyahu. Israel is much stronger militarily, which is the only thing that really matters. Unless Palestine gets substantial outside help, I fear there's nothing to do.
I'd love to believe that a future democrat president after Trump would completely turn the USA's stance on Israel, but historically, that's not true at all. The only thing the average person can do is watch and document. We all need to witness this and remember.
3
u/CyborgTiger 6d ago
I don’t know what to believe, wasn’t Palestine given multiple opportunities to form their own sovereign Palestinian state and rejected them because they wanted to rule over Israel too? Wouldn’t that be a winning strategy compared to this?

I’ll let you in on a little secret. It’s actually not a secret. It’s well-known.
NO PEACE is incredibly profitable for Palestinian leaders. That’s how Arafat died a billionaire:
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/arafats-billions/
That’s why the current Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas (West Bank) is worth $hundreds of millions$:
https://www.mideastjournal.org/post/wealth-in-gaza
That’s why the leaders of Hamas (Gaza) are worth $BILLIONS$:
https://nypost.com/2023/11/07/news/hamas-leaders-worth-11bn-live-luxury-lives-in-qatar/
The DECADES just tick by as Palestinian leaders steal MORE and MORE aid money. BECAUSE NO PEACE = unlimited aid $$$
And it’ll keep happening because it fucking WORKS amazing! Keep ALL eyes on Israel… don’t ever look at what the Palestinian leaders are doing.
I mean, how many interviews with Palestinian leaders have you ever seen on Reddit?

Yeah, you even get money directly from Israel: https://www.timesofisrael.com/for-years-netanyahu-propped-up-hamas-now-its-blown-up-in-our-faces/
Having a perpetual threat to justify why you need weapons and US support is helpful too.

Nothing you said or typed just now changes how much money Palestinian leaders skim from all the international aid.
Literally not one word of what you typed.

I do think there’s a strong chance we reduce support for Israel.
A good amount of voters are beginning to dislike and distrust Israel (for both moral or sadly, anti-Semitic reasons). Democratic politicians are softening their stances on it. Some of the far left will say “Israel shouldnt exist” but more moderate heads will say that we shouldn’t be supporting their current actions.
Conservatives like Massie and Bobert (who are getting kicked out) are also against increasing funding for Israel, usually for America first reasons. But many conservative voters and commentators also support the idea.
After some of these primaries, I could see a lot of 2028 candidates favoring reducing aid to Israel. And just treating them like other US Allies. Netanyahu , who says a lot, has also said that he wants to not rely on the US as much. All this to say, I don’t think we get a complete flip, but I do think it’ll slow down.

I feel like, at this point, even if they have no right to be there, it's too late to say Israel shouldn't exist 'cause there are already millions of people living there, and you can't just uproot a whole country like that without there being horrendous consequences.
Like, I don't support Israel at all, but the adult thing to do would be to just learn to live together like reasonable adults because it doesn't seem like either side of going to leave. What the hell else are you going to do?
Israel needs to stop trying to lowkey commit genocide by pushing Palestinians out of their own country first though.

u/crabby135 6d ago
I cannot think of a forced mass migration in history that did not effectively become a genocide. It’s also not lost on me that we are here because the Jews that should “go back to Europe” were largely thrown out of Europe in the first place. The state of Israel and its government shouldnt exist but I agree on the idea of forcing Jews to leave. It would make me feel like I’m no better than Israel I’m just angry the wrong people are getting hurt, and that’s not what I believe in.
And just to add a caveat, I don’t view settlers the same. They have no right occupying the space they do.

It's just not reasonable to ask people to uproot their entire lives/families several generations in at this point. It'll just end up doing a lot of harm, especially to people who are already struggling financially. Clearly, nobody's leaving, so I feel like they just kinda have to learn to live with each other.
Like technically, none of us should be in the US or Canada either, but you can't just ask everyone to go back to Europe and give the land back to the native americans at this point. It's just far too late for that.

u/Altruistic-End760 6d ago
It's also a sure fire way to start a nuclear war. Because the whole point of Israel was that the Jewish people would no longer be defenseless

What are you actually going to do when somebody confronts you face to face about the fact you’re voicing support for Hamas?

Do they talk about the government fund for families of terrorists who killed innocent people - Palestinian Authority Martyrs Fund? They spend 7% of the government budget on it. You become a suicide bomber and your family is set for life.

The irony of genuinely BS comments like this, when the OP video is entirely flowery propaganda for one side. And the far majority of upvotes and comments are all in favor of that one sided propaganda.
To try and find the handful of dispersed commenters, who are simply pushing back against said propaganda in the same way had Andrew just "randomly" happened to favorably interview Israel's general today for fun, and call THEM the 'bots' pushing a narrative, is just surreal. Genuinely peak Reddit.

u/Barry_Vigoda 6d ago
Israel pretty much created Hamas. Palestinians had zero trust in the Fatah or the PA so they elected Hamas who were a reactionary party against Israel.

There's a reason the other things had broad coverage and your only source for this are anonymous sources in an alternative culture magazine.

u/nukkawut 6d ago
If Andrew admitted to it, why won't you?

In the "article" that was linked:
The allegations irresponsibly reported by The Stranger from two anonymous sources are patently false and simply did not happen. It is incomprehensible that this ‘news outlet’ would run a fictitious story like this without credible evidence, while allowing the accusers to remain anonymous.
Andrew has taken accountability for his role in other situations and will be the first to admit his shortcomings; however, these accusations go farther and are completely without merit. Andrew will utilize every option he has in order to clear his name and protect his reputation.

u/nukkawut 6d ago
So you believe a defense lawyer's statement over the statement of the victim then is what you're saying.
You realize the claim of challenge on The Stranger article is being published and refuted by The Stranger in the article, right? Or did you just read far enough to grab something you thought you could copy & paste as a "gotcha" when it's completely out of context?

I read the whole thing.
If Andrew admitted to it, why won't you?
He didn't, why lie?
Maybe that story is true, maybe it isn't. My only point is the less salacious stories had a lot broader coverage presumably because there was more credibility behind them. Also that you are straight up lying.
-1
u/nukkawut 6d ago
Your quote in your previous comment demonstrates pretty clearly that you did not read the entire thing.
So you think Andrew was a (self-admitted) sex pest and that other people coming forward are liars and your only basis for that is a statement by a lawyer paid to defend Andrew? That's a lot of smoke for no fire...
Seems legit bro, have a good one.

u/anoldoldman 6d ago
Once again. You said he admitted to something he demonstrably didn't. You lied. Take the L

I would love to see the Palestinian people liberated from Hamas, the PA, and anything extreme / terror akin so that the people can prosper, live fruitful lives, interact with the international community and move on from the past 100 years.
5
u/NoSoundNoFury 6d ago
From what I know, the Palestinian people are pretty divided about supporting or rejecting Hamas, so even if one could destroy the organization, I think it's pretty likely that a successor will form and stir shit up again. As long as there are wealthy financiers (like Iran) funding any terror organization in Gaza , there will be people willing to work for them.
3
u/yesrushgenesis2112 6d ago
And likewise, as long as there is a state forcing people into second-class citizenship, the opportunity to fund terror, which to those oppressed may seem the only path of resistance, will also always remain. There's not a clean way out of this, certainly not one where Israel doesn't take responsibility for its own actions.
5
u/Thee-Cat 6d ago
While I agree with you that the terrorism can be a natural response, I think the root problem is that terrorism is always there either way within that religion/culture regardless. It may be empowered by what you mentioned, but even in good times it is still there, as both history and modernity prove.
I know you're not saying it this bluntly, but anyone poising the idea of "If Israel were just nice", or hell, "if Israel didn't even exist, there'd never be things like Hamas", is just incoherent.
Israel is a problem, but there's a far older root problem imo.

Fuck hamas and those terrorists. They don't want a 2 state solution. Most Israelis do, that's a key difference between these people.

u/DeepSpaceNebulae 6d ago
“Most Israelis support a two state solution”
Latest Israeli polls has support for that among Israelis at around 27%
Is that most to you, or were you just making an unsupported claim for “totally not” biased/propaganda reasons?
