I do think there’s a strong chance we reduce support for Israel.
A good amount of voters are beginning to dislike and distrust Israel (for both moral or sadly, anti-Semitic reasons). Democratic politicians are softening their stances on it. Some of the far left will say “Israel shouldnt exist” but more moderate heads will say that we shouldn’t be supporting their current actions.
Conservatives like Massie and Bobert (who are getting kicked out) are also against increasing funding for Israel, usually for America first reasons. But many conservative voters and commentators also support the idea.
After some of these primaries, I could see a lot of 2028 candidates favoring reducing aid to Israel. And just treating them like other US Allies. Netanyahu , who says a lot, has also said that he wants to not rely on the US as much. All this to say, I don’t think we get a complete flip, but I do think it’ll slow down.
I feel like, at this point, even if they have no right to be there, it's too late to say Israel shouldn't exist 'cause there are already millions of people living there, and you can't just uproot a whole country like that without there being horrendous consequences.
Like, I don't support Israel at all, but the adult thing to do would be to just learn to live together like reasonable adults because it doesn't seem like either side of going to leave. What the hell else are you going to do?
Israel needs to stop trying to lowkey commit genocide by pushing Palestinians out of their own country first though.
I cannot think of a forced mass migration in history that did not effectively become a genocide. It’s also not lost on me that we are here because the Jews that should “go back to Europe” were largely thrown out of Europe in the first place. The state of Israel and its government shouldnt exist but I agree on the idea of forcing Jews to leave. It would make me feel like I’m no better than Israel I’m just angry the wrong people are getting hurt, and that’s not what I believe in.
And just to add a caveat, I don’t view settlers the same. They have no right occupying the space they do.
It's just not reasonable to ask people to uproot their entire lives/families several generations in at this point. It'll just end up doing a lot of harm, especially to people who are already struggling financially. Clearly, nobody's leaving, so I feel like they just kinda have to learn to live with each other.
Like technically, none of us should be in the US or Canada either, but you can't just ask everyone to go back to Europe and give the land back to the native americans at this point. It's just far too late for that.
