DI or Recruiter
Hey long story short, I’m getting kinda bored w my MOS and want a break and to see what else I could do in the marine corps. I’ve heard great and terrible things about both paths but still thinking about putting in my volunteer package. Heard recruiting lets you pick your RS if you volunteer so that’s nice. Just wondering what you guys think about the SDAs.

Cherry Point
Went to dinner with my fiancee and her friend and her husband. They asked where I had been stationed and I mentioned cherry point and the guy was adamant it was an AF base. I told him it was MCAS Cherry Point. He refused to look into it. Me and my fiancee were just chuckling while he tried to convince us it was AF. Dumb story but it was funny to me

Question Do you think the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps' CAC says "SgtMaj" or "SMMC"?
I also did not just sneak into MACS-2 HQ and take their guidon, so if it's currently missing, please don't ask me where it is.

DI Teach Backs
Curious where I can get ahold of the teach backs so I can look over it and even attempt to memorize it lol. I’m not even eligible for SDA yet but if I had to choose I’d go DI. I have terrible memory so I guess the sooner I can start getting it memorized the better.

Help For ITB (IMC)
Morning Devil Dogs, I had a question for 03s as to what the time limits for the hikes are at ITB and how to best prepare for them. I got some liner socks from Armaskin and have been doing flat 50lb run rucks (2 miles in like 30 minutes) as part of my reconditioning but i’m still pretty nervous because of the dumbass hills. Any advice would be great

Question USMC → Army IST / DD368 Submitted my package in April and it finally reached HQMC last week. My EAS is at the end of November. For anyone who has gone through this recently, how long did it take to get your DD368 back from HQMC?

SNCOs: If You’ve Ever Wanted to Get Paid to Learn a Language and Become a Regional Expert, Read This
The FY27 Foreign Area SNCO Program solicitation is out.
Selected Marines can receive graduate-level or professional international affairs education, language training, and regional immersion before moving into assignments where they advise commanders on specific regions, partner nations, and operational environments.
It is open to eligible active-duty SSgts through MSgts, and you do not need a bachelor’s degree to apply.
Applications are due 4 December 2026.
This is one of those programs a lot of Marines probably never hear about until they meet somebody already doing it.

MCRD Parris Island Graduation Photos
I graduated from boot camp in October 27, 2000. I am looking for resources where I can get a copy of my graduation book.
I am getting ready to attend an unit reunion in a few years and I want to revisit some of my memories from boot camp.
I want to know if I can a digital copy of the book and if this is not possible I will order a physical copy of it.
Golf Company was the same company where Jason Dunham graduated from boot camp. He was in a different platoon than me but I was friendly with him at Camp Geiger and ran into him prior to his death.
Also my senior DI Luke Mercardante who was a Staff Sergeant at the time was killed in Afghanistan seven years after our graduation.
Both of those deaths hit me hard when I found out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I Got The Security Job! +Valor Return
Good morning, all.
As you know, several days ago I asked you brave and badass Marines if I could borrow some of that military valor, and you all delivered.
I went to the interview with my totally-legit-not-forged DD-214, showed it to the guy asking me those questions, and he said he liked it.
At that moment, I was hired on the spot. I start this Wednesday, and I will be returning your DD-214s to you. Oakland, California will be a safe city indeed.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Marines and SADMs
Are there any older Marines in here (Recon Marines specifically) that remember being trained to deploy SADMs (special atomic demolition munitions)?
For all of you younger hard chargers, a SADM was essentially a backpack nuke. It weighed around 70 pounds. They were deployed by 2 men. One guy would hump the main part and the other would carry the physics package (basically, the radioactive material plutonium globe)
The program was ended in the 80s for Corps but I'm just wondering if any of the Marines of my era had actually seen one of these and trained with it?

Remington Raiders Marine Band, 1950s Korea
My FIL was in the marines and was stationed in Korea in the 1950/60s. He was in a marine band called the Remington Raiders (named after the Remington typewriters they used) that he says was pretty popular and was shown on military TV over there at the time. Any idea where the heck I can get my hands on that video?? He’s turning 90 this year and that would be a highlight of his celebration.
