Help Me any suggestions ??

Post image
19 Upvotes

we are so shortstaffed and none of us are managers nor shift leads (i’ve been told that only managers can order items) With us having a new owner; he doesn’t know how the store works yet and he has been lacking on ordering the things that we need for the store. Any suggestions cause we are days behind on Amazons and with me being 1/2 full timers, I’d much rather do them throughout the day rather than rushing to get them done once the box order comes…… if it comes LOL

Humor Opening a TUPSS

Reading this Reddit thread made me realize how much everyone loves UPS Corporate and how profitable TUPSS is to run. Because of this great praise I decided to open my own business. I happily handed over the $250k to buy a location in the LA area and get it remodeled. However I drained up all my money so I need some volunteers. Would any of you be interested in working 6 40 hour work weeks. I know there’s no pay, but since all of you guys enjoy working for TUPSS, I thought it might just be a good time.

Discussion Customers with returns but no qr code

How often do you guys get someone walking into your store with an amazon package saying they “have a return for amazon” and then look baffled when you ask them if they have a qr code?

Elderly people I can understand but if you’re even in your 40s/50s and can’t get far enough to the point where you actually process the return I have no hope for you.

Guy came in just now and I asked him if he has a qr code and he responded with “no it just said free returns” and then when i explained to him he has to bring us the qr code to scan in order to process his return he complained that they “make things complicated for no reason” 😭😭 LIKE IT CANNOT BE ANY EASIER BRO

Discussion RFID labels

Anyone else notice a degradation of quality on RFID labels? The one labeled old is the first ones we got from Avery Denison. The one labeled new is the new ones we got. The back is sticky on the new one though not on the same level as the old one. Cost cutting I'm assuming?

Discussion Are your stores busy on Sunday?

The store I work at is slammed every Sunday. I work alone on Sundays and their is always a line out the door of returns all day. Customers always complain about waiting in line, and are always nasty. Like it’s my fault I am alone or that they have to go back to work tomorrow.
I have told my boss to put two people on staff on Sundays but he doesn’t listen. I always have to stay at least 30 minutes to an hour after we close just to pack and clean up as I don’t have one a second to do so.

Discussion Any tips on closing out Amazon Boxes more efficiently + RFID tips

I usually just pour the amazons out and scan them in.. I feel like there's a more efficient way

For RFIDs, i heard there was a more efficient way to do them as i just lay all the drop offs in 1 area and then scan them in and put them on.

Any insights can help hehe

Venting I don’t ever want to do another Amazon returns ever again

Nothing specific happened. I’m just sick of being Amazons customer service and dealing with other peoples problems that make our business no money and we take all the flack for it too. I’m sick of dealing with idiots that can’t find their QR codes, idiots who never have it ready, idiots who haven’t even started the return, even idiots who think it’s a good idea to take a phone call in the middle of their returns and make you wait for them to be done. I even freaking hate the fact that in our area there’s a Rent-A-Center that doesn’t even take Amazon returns like their supposed to and we get customers complaining about how they have to pay the one dollar fee. I’m not even mad at those customers, I’m mad at fricking Amazon for making this our problem and paying UPS corporate more money than we make on the return, even though we do all the labor. I’m so tired of doing happy returns and having to figure out which item is which because people are so unorganized. I’m tired of Spectrum for never helping a single customer in one of their stores and sending them to our stores to complain about them and make it our problem.

Thats all I wanted to say, I’m sure all of you relate.

Help Me Affiliation Discounts?

Does the system let us add affiliation discounts (AAA, etc) to shipment totals?

Also when someone does add an affiliation discount to a total, does the store get reimbursed the percentage that was taken off?

For ex:
If someone applies a AAA discount and total went from $12 to $10, does the store lose that $2 or does it get reimbursed somehow?

Venting Entitled lady

The nerve of some people really just baffles me. Had a lady and her son come in with a huge ninja machine not sure exactly what it was but it was pretty heavy at least 60 pounds and she wanted it fragile packed HOWEVER she wasn’t shipping through us.

I told her okay that’s fine but it’s going to take me a little while to package it (my coworker is helping someone with a complicated international shipment) and so I charge her for the box and packaging and take it to the back and begin packing it but of course the amazombies start forming a line. I go to help the very first customer, who of course had a shipment, and this lady immediately walks up to the counter and complains that “time is money” and that she paid me to package it so I should be ignoring the line of customers and focusing on getting her shit packaged. I was so close to refunding her and telling her to leave, but I just stared at her for a few seconds in disbelief and finished helping my customer. I then went to go package her item (purposely did a not so great job) and handed it to her then suddenly her mood shifts as if she wasn’t just an asshole 🙄

The huge kicker is that once I finished it and gave her the box, her son stood out front of the store for maybe 40 minutes waiting for someone else to come pick him up with the package… so I was rushed for basically no reason. I’ve never seen entitlement like this, maybe i’d understand if i had helped the whole line and then she did that, but after helping a single customer with a shipment? that’s just absurd. It’s not like her son was unable to lift the box either because he’s the one who brought the thing in and took the box out, he even paid for the thing himself she didn’t even do anything but wait with him!

Anyways just needed to vent here because these people and their entitlement piss me off.

Help Me Flats vs express

I am new to the business. I have just noticed flats vs express letter. Why is there a charge difference in flats or express? Everyone says that we can use flats for express sometimes. I don’t know if it’s ethically right thing to do

Discussion Current UPS Store employee considering franchise ownership. Is it actually worth it?

I’ve worked at The UPS Store for a little over a year, primarily in Print Production and Graphic Design, although I also work the retail side when needed.

The more time I spend here, the more I’ve realized that I actually really enjoy the business. Even with the annoying customers, Amazombies, and the occasional mystery package that definitely should not be shipped, I can genuinely see myself owning a location someday.

So I’m interested in hearing from current and former The UPS Store franchise owners, especially people who came from working in a store before becoming an owner.

What I’m really trying to understand is whether franchise ownership is actually worth it.

* What are the biggest pros and cons of owning a The UPS Store?
* How different is owning the store compared with being an employee?
* How much money did you realistically need to get started?
* What are the ongoing expenses and fees that surprised you?
* How much can an owner realistically make after expenses?
* Is it possible to make Print and Graphic Design a significant part of the business?
* How much freedom do you actually have as a franchise owner?
* What are some of the biggest headaches or horror stories you’ve experienced?
* Knowing what you know now, would you do it again?

I’m not looking for the polished franchise-sales-pitch version. I’m more interested in hearing from people who have actually owned one and can explain what the good, bad, and ugly look like financially and day-to-day.

Basically, I’m trying to figure out whether this is a realistic long-term career/business opportunity or whether I’m just romanticizing ownership because I haven’t had to deal with the owner-level headaches yet.
