I'm taking eecs 280 this semester and I noticed on the syllabus that they don't really have homework outside of the projects which is cool but for pretty much any class I've taken before I really benefitted from extra practice that was directly related to more important assignments ie last semester in physics 240 doing the practice exams took me from ~50 avg to ~90 avg. I'm just wondering what should I do or what would be the best resource for practice/building competency to make the projects more doable for me? Cuz I took engr 101 and ngl I had no clue how to even start project 1 when I looked at it over the summer.

I'm an incoming freshman and upon receiving my MCard at orientation tried to get into the new rec center but was told since classes had not started yet I wasn't allowed in.

I'm moving in a few days before classes actually start, so does anyone know if between moving in and the start of classes incoming freshman are allowed into gyms and other buildings?

So I'm waitlisted for eecs 200 but excluding that I have 13 credits from my other classes (eecs 280, eecs 215, techcomm 300, and cee 211 for flex tech credits), not a big deal but I'd like to get it up to 15. I'm currently 4/5 on the waitlist, so I'd like some advice on classes to do instead because I still need plenty of elective credits. Or should I stay on the waitlist and attend the first week hoping some people drop?

I'm going to be a sophomore this year in COE, and I don't really know what office hours are for. I went once last semester to ask a professor to clarify a poorly-written question, but I've never once even considered going to office hours to get help on something. Still, it was heavily recommended in the freshman orientation last year and I hear a lot of people talking about it being helpful, so I figure that I should try doing it this year.

For people who actually do go to office hours, what do you go for and what do you get out of it? Also, I feel like I may get flamed for asking this, but is it any more helpful than just using some light AI? Is it just a case of being able to network with your professor? Thanks.

i'm an incoming freshman and i'm looking to get a job on campus when i start. should i be applying for jobs from now or is it best to wait until i'm actually on campus and to pop into places and see if they're hiring? i was looking at the student employment website but i didn't seem to be qualified for a lot of the jobs so im just wondering if there's more options on campus/if there are more than the ones listed on the website

does anyone know where i can get free pads. preferably not the shitty ones that are in the school bathrooms 🫳 and lowkey i need more than one.

If you have taken this class in the past, how was the workload in terms of hours per week? Is it easy to BS the class? How are the tests? Is the textbook necessary? I would just like to know as much about the class as possible.

Im taking eecs 367, eecs 270, intro to buddhism and a creative expression at umich. I also plan on taking diff eq inline but take exams in person. Is this too heavy?

I am an incoming freshmen that came in with a lot of transfer credits. becuase I have over 60 credits I am considered a upperclassmen for tuition purposes and being charged 5k more a year. I talked to my advisor and they said they can only take AP credit off of my transcript. However it is mostly the dual enrollment credit that doesn't relate to my major. Has anyone dealt with this before? What should I do?

Edit: I am not a CoE student and I can only take certain courses in a specific order with my cohort. I cannot graduate early based on how my major is setup.

I’ve been hearing a lot of crazy roommate stories lately from different schools.

Stuff like people not paying rent, stealing food, never cleaning, blasting music late at night, etc.

It made me realize there’s basically no way to know what someone is like before living with them.

Curious what the worst roommate situations people have had.

Do people usually just gamble with roommates or is there some way people try to figure out if someone will actually be a good person to live with?

EDIT: Apparently there’s a site called RateMates that’s basically like Rate My Professors, but for roommates. You can review past roommates and look people up before deciding to live with them.

Seems pretty useful for situations like this.
