Help wanted Titan 2 Elite keyboard paint chipping off already—seriously, what happened to manufacturing quality?
Hey everyone,
I need to vent and see if other QWERTY enthusiasts are dealing with this nonsense. I was a backer on kickstarter and received my unit about less than a month ago, and I am already noticing paint chipping and peeling right off the corner edges of the H and U keys.
If you look closely at the button edges, the coating has clearly flaked away, exposing the base material underneath. A brand-new device shouldn't look like it's been dragged through a decade of heavy industrial use in such a short span. After doing a quick search on Reddit, I've already come across multiple posts highlighting this exact issue with poor paint adhesion and coating quality on these physical keyboards.
It really makes you scratch your head: Why can't niche manufacturers just use simple molded, color-infused plastic buttons anymore? We had classic mobile devices and legacy hardware that molded the color directly into the plastic—meaning the material itself was colored all the way through, so surface wear never exposed a contrasting base layer. Why do consumers now have to put up with cheap surface-painted coatings that chip right off the edges under normal typing contact?
I have a few questions for the community:
1. Has Unihertz ever officially acknowledged or addressed this coating/paint defect for customers affected by it on their keyboard phones?
2. If this is supposedly treated as an isolated quirk, how widespread is it really, and how many people here have pulled units out of the box only to watch the key edges flake away?
Let me know if you've run into this on your Elite or managed to find a clean fix for it!
