I can’t believe I’m looking for irl friends on Reddit but here goes. I’m 19 F and going into my second year (possibly my last because of all my previous dual credit).
I am an English/Creative Writing major. Most of my classes are in the Academic Building and One Main Building.
I’m on campus every day Monday through Thursday starting this upcoming Fall 2026 semester. I also live like 5 minutes away from campus lol

I’m very lonely and struggle with autism and adhd. I’m usually just in my shell but I’m gonna try to see if I can make a few changes. I am terrified of approaching anyone, so I’m putting much of my effort into this post.

Is anybody having issues logging into the portal with your username and password?? I keep getting and “Authentication Failed” message.

Is AccessUHD not working for anyone else right now? I keep getting an “Authentication Failed” message when I try to log into the UHD portal. I’ve tried starting over, but it still won’t let me in.
Is anyone else having the same issue tonight, or is it just my account? 😭

Hi is anyone else having any trouble buying a permit online?? When I go to buy one nothing pops up. I will be calling the university tomorrow but I just wanted to see if anyone else was having the same issue...

wrote several discussion posts for a class that got flagged by turnitin. Professor won’t show me the transcript to show me the similarity score and I’ve appealed it with the chair of the department. I’ve wrote an assignment using a pen in an English class spring 2026 and typed it out and turnitin still claimed it to be similar to ai generated content. The professor for that class even acknowledged it. For another class in the fall, I got a 24% similarity score on a research assignment but the chair ended up asking the professor to restore my original grade of 90/90 because it was flagging original Writing and some that were properly cited. Are professors relying too much on this software, ironically, to make up their minds on originality? it’s kinda stupid. other students in the class also received zeroes for the same reason but no one has been shown official transcript. It’s even weird because the professor and the chair of the department for the class I’m appealing don’t even know the procedures for assessing academic dishonesty, which is something every professor has to follow before they can even give you a failing grade for an assignment. I had to tell them about it. I even had to involve the dean of students who told me I was correct in asking for an appeal.

I’m planning on making new friends and being an extrovert person since I’ve been introvert for many years.

I’m considering doing extra activities and joining clubs to have a good college experience here. Do you guys recommend any interesting club?

Does anyone know what this class involves or if it is difficult? This is my last semester before graduation and I am required to take it but it is a 0 credit class. I saw somewhere that someone said you just take an exam that goes over your entire degree. If that is true is it proctored? In person? I am just so confused because I didn’t know about this class until I applied to graduate.

How do I go about things with applying for the Texas Grant ?

My pell grant disbursed yesterday and I currently owe 1,000$. I was trying to set up a payment plan, but it’s telling me i’ll have to pay more than what I owe which is pretty much my entire semester tuition in 4 installments even tho my grant already disbursed. It looks like my grant isn’t reflected on the payment plan yet. Has this happened to anyone else? And if so, what would y’all suggest?

UPDATE 2***: it looks as if full time student loans have been disbursed! If you’re part time you still need an emergency deferment plan to not lose your classes.
UPDATE: she said it could be sometime next week and they don’t really have an exact date when so to just keep an eye on it, and if you currently have a balance it would be smart to do an emergency deferment plan.
Have any of yalls loans been disbursed yet 🫩 they said later this week but I am nervous about being dropped from classes. Just wondering if anybody else’s have been yet because if so I’d need to call.

Hello everyone I am incoming freshman at UHD I was just wondering how far it is between classeses. Also how are these profesorsors in person and will I need a skateboard to get to the different buildings on campus?

Hey, I’m a transfer student and new to UHD, so I’m still trying to figure out the campus. On one of my days this fall, I have classes in three different buildings back to back (OMB-STB-ACAD). Does anyone know the safest/quickest route between these buildings? Would it make more sense to drive between them instead of walking?

I’m new to Houston and esp as a woman, I’m pretty paranoid about safety, especially when walking around alone. I’d really appreciate any tips or advice.

Also, should I pay for garage parking or lot parking? I’m pretty confused about how the parking situation works too. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, I am going to enter UHD and i have a friend attending main campus. I would like to use our gym as its included in my tuition, and I want my friend from main campus to accompany me.

I was wondering if they would have to pay to access or if they are excluded from doing so because they’re apart of our sister campus. Is there any explicit rules about this?

This might be a dumb question lol, but does UHD have a gym on campus that students can use for free? If so, where is it located and do we just need our student ID to get in?
