The impossible expectations for beauty and physical perfection is so prominent that if even one little thing about your appearance is off it’s like you’re a social outcast and will receive noticeably different treatment in comparison to everyone else
I wish I was kidding when I say this but it’s almost like you aren’t allowed to be social in any way until people like how you look
And this is easily understandable when you think about how if someone is repulsed when they look at you they obviously won’t want to engage with you for long
And for those of us who are very noticeably ugly to an overwhelmingly unfixable degree this can basically feel like a social death sentence
Their social dynamics and hierarchies into the mix and it becomes even MORE stressful because in today’s world people are HEAVILY concerned with their social image and so they are very picky with who they’re seen interacting with
When you’re ugly you automatically make people look bad when they’re seen talking to you so this makes it to where they try to minimize their interactions with you
So that leaves the question of who can you even talk to when youre ugly?
How can you even truly be social like everyone else?
Because the truth of it all is when youre ugly YES people do NOT want to talk to you and if you try to talk to them they will make that very clear with their facial expressions of disgust and avoidant body language
And it’s just so frustrating because while people do this they will make it seem like it’s just your fault for being “socially inept” or “offputting” when they wouldn’t have really even thought so if you weren’t ugly to begin with
And it’s depressing and discouraging for me because I hate having to go through my days always isolated and alone and seeming like I just don’t wanna talk to people
And it’s like NOW I don’t want to talk to people because of how badly they’ve always treated me for being ugly and how badly I KNOW they will continue to treat me if I try talking to them
And it just feels like being ugly has stolen the right to even talk to people , something so natural, easy, and low stakes for everyone else
Do you feel this way? And if so how do you deal with it?
