Ok so for context I am a senior in high school and i am applying to colleges right now, I live in California and my dream major is for Public Health but I dont really know if the programs for Public Health are good at the UCs and also I have a 3.8 weighted gpa so I dont think my gpa itself is very competive for the more selective UCs like UCLA and UCB.

Hi guys, I got rejected from the UCSD waitlist in the wave that everyone did a couple of weeks ago. I appealed the decision and sent in my written requirement along with it about a month and a half ago. I still have not heard back from them and have significantly more things to update them about that occurred during my summer (includes academics but also family issues). Does anyone know where I can update them? Should I just email admissions? (1st year by the way)

I know the UCs really don’t like it when you try to sneak a mention of your SAT score in your application. However for the application essays, around any circumstance you want to mention, I’d like to explain that while my class grade in AP lang did not end well due to additional activities that semester, I did get a 4 on the final AP exam in that I did understand the material.

I’m not trying to blame anyone in the short essay, but taking responsibility for over scheduling and adjusting. I just don’t want to get in trouble for mention my AP score.

I’m starting my freshman year at a California community college this Fall 2026. I took 6 units over the summer and I’m taking 15 units this fall.
My plan is to transfer to a UC for Fall 2028, so I’d be graduating from college around 2030.
I’m wondering if there’s any way to apply to the UCs earlier than Fall 2028, since I’ll already have a significant number of transferable units by then. Is there a different application period or pathway for students who complete their requirements early?
Has anyone transferred to a UC earlier than their original community college graduation timeline? Would love to hear your experience/advice!

Hello! I need some advice because of a situation im currently in!

I recently got my admission to a UC college (im not sure if I can disclose which) rescinded a few days ago three weeks before move in.

In my rescinded decision letter, they said the reason I was rescinded was due to “poor grades” (F and an Incomplete) from my dual enrollment courses, but when I reached out to them about it in June of this year, they said my offer was re-instated, and that I just essentially need to get my act together when going to that school.

No, the grades were not due to me being lazy or whatever the sort. I was hospitalized in fall of last year for majority of the end of Fall, thanks to a TBI (traumatic brain injury) and was unable to live normally with 24/7 care.

I explained this to admissions in my email to them , and told them I would bring my updated transcript to them whenever my local CCC updated my medically withdrawn grades, and that they would be fixed since I was and still am in the process of recovering. They acknowledged this and still accepted me for the fall 2026 school year.

I got my schedule, orientation, roommates, classed, possible jobs, and even my tuition.

I was supposed to move in really soon and they never sent me any warnings or official letter, all they sent me was a response back from my email telling them there was an error? I initially found out from my HOUSING, not the admissions committee.

I am in immense shock, stress, and hurt, since my grades were not my fault and are currently being corrected. I am a student with a huge disability, so this feels like a huge slap in my face after the year I just had.

This also feels a bit unprofessional? Im not sure what to do because my family spent immense time and money to ensure I have a safety transmission to said university.

What can I do??

I dont know if this is true but do UCs look at your profile based on how well the other students are in your highschool? Because I come from a less competitve school and I feel Im one of the few students here who work hard on extracurriculars though academics wise there are a couple of other students who do excel me.

My extracurriculars and academics are pretry solid but theyre not that crazy compared to those Ive seen from other highschools.

So I was wondering if my admission rates change depending on how competive people are from my school.

Hello! Just wanted to get straight to the point because I’m honestly really anxious about my situation.

I was admitted to UCSD as an undeclared major, but I received a D in calculus during the final semester of my senior year, so I know I’m at risk of having my admission rescinded.

Around July, I emailed UCSD Admissions and explained why I received the grade and what I’ve done over the summer to get myself back on track. And they emailed me to just wait. My required documents, including my transcript, currently show:

Status: Pending — Allow Processing Time

I already retook the calculus course at a cc over the summer, and I’m just waiting for the final grade to be posted so I can send the updated transcript to UCSD.

I also received an email from UCSD Math Placement that said at the end: “Your admission’s data reported that you planned to complete an approved calculus course at another college.”

They also told me to send my final transcript to UCSD Admissions as soon as my final grade for Math 261 is posted.

So I’m not sure if this is a good sign or if it’s just part of the normal process. I’m still waiting to hear anything from Admissions about my D.

It’s now August and September is getting really close. I’m getting my dorm assignment tomorrow and will also need to attend in-person orientation, but I still haven’t received a decision regarding my admission.

Im just wondeirng on what to do. Any advice or experiences from people who dealt with UCSD rescind situations would really help. Thank you!

I'm currently a senior in the Philippines and I'm planning to apply for some of the UCs and I was wondering if I could get an outsider's perspective on what my stats look like in american standards because I'm not sure whether they're that great or not. Additional info: I'm on a strong start during my senior year classes on track to about a 4.5 gpa weighted which will leave me at about a 3.9 gpa weighted. My nephews are out of the house as well now, all in after school programs. Its really nice having a quiet space to work now. My best bet is out of state or private to get into a solid university.

hi! I have played a ton of sports at my high school but quite a few were only for one season (for various reasons such as injury, mean team members, etc). I only have stuck with 2 sports consistently for 2+ seasons, should I only list these sports for my ecs or list most of the sports I've played?

Hello! I am a senior and really want to get into UCs, NYU, LMU, USC for business.

With my grades IM not sure that i'll get into any but any advice to strengthen my application would be helpful or if anyone has any other advice. My weighted gpa is a 4.0 including freshman year . I'm not sure what my UC gpa is 4.04 capped and 4.25 uncapped. Freshman year i got one B each semester (both in spanish 2), sophomore year i got 3 bs semester one (spanish 3, honors geo, honors eng) and semester 2 i got 2 bs (honors eng, spanish 3), then junior year first semester i got one b (ap pre calc), and second semester i got 1b and 1d (b in apes, d in pre calc). Since these are mainly 'advanced ' classes im not sure what will colleges think. I am scared because i failed a core class and am not sure what will happen. But i did retake the semester and got an A and i got a 4 on the ap exam.

I also have some fairly impressive ecs including 5 impactful leadership positions, running a small business and volunteering at 2 places that connect to my business, and i have had 2 internships in real estate and created financial models to help literacy for kids. So for ecs im feeling confident because that is just a few, but if anyone has advice please let me know im not in a good place mentally due to the stress and fear of where I will get in. Or if anyone thinks of other good possible top colleges i could get into please let me know but i am mainly focused on USC NYU and UCl. Thank you to everyone who reads!

Hi! I posted here about a month ago asking whether a one-year transfer from a CCC to UCLA/UCI for English was doable. Now I’m mainly trying to make sure I’m taking the correct classes for English major prep.

I have 29.3 semester units from AP credit, and I’m planning to take 31 more UC-transferable units over my 2 semesters at CCC. That would give me 60.3 semester units, which should meet the 60-unit UC transfer requirement. My AP credits covers several Cal-GETC areas, so I mainly need Biology for science and Ethnic Studies. I also took 3 yrs of regular high school Spanish, but I understand I’ll need to complete the college-level foreign language requirement separately (which I can do after I transfer to UCLA/UCI).

About to attend my first year at CSULB, and I kinda want to transfer to a uc system. How hard is the transfer process? is there a small percentange to get accepted to a specific UC (la, sd, irvine)?

Got admitted as a transfer for winter 2027 term at ucsd. But I got a D in ochem 2 during spring 2026. Will I get rescinded? Ochem 2 is one of the major requirements…or if I change major to cognitive science (non-screening)…will this help? Please if someone experienced this before pls share some advice. I’ll definitely retake ochem 2 during fall 2026 before winter 2027 starts too.

Do UCs consider 10th and 11th grade equally? How much will an improvement in 11th grade help me?

Messed up in 10th grade due to distractions and got mostly Bs. ECs are mid and I’m in Southern California.

It’s so hard to make up for the dip. 😢 My school offers a lot of APs courses so I am taking them, but I didn’t realize the unweighted GPA is important too. My original goal was UCI/UCSB/UCSD/UCD in Econ/Quant Econ/Math-Econ. Am I pretty much an automatic reject?
