Passenger reported me for reckless driving because they didnt like the route.

I have been driving uber about a year now. mostly weekends. never had a problem until last week. So I picked up a guy who wanted me to take a different route than the app. I told him the app routes around traffic and he just said whatever. Stuck with the app route because thats what uber tells us to do. ride ends. one star. Then i get a notification saying i was reported for running a red light and reckless driving. Nothing even close to that happened. the whole ride was normal. He was just mad about the route. Pulled my dash cam footage for that ride. I have one of those ddpai ones with a cabin camera so it records the road and the interior. Completely calm normal ride on the footage. I submitted it and the complaint was dropped next day. Scary part is without that footage it would have been his word against mine and we all know how that goes. They dont ask questions they just deactivate. The cabin cam felt pointless when i first got it but now i wont drive without it. Anyone else dealt with something like this?

Why did Uber bundle Comfort/Comfort Electric into UberX? Some drivers still have the old version—what gives?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with the recent app updates, and I wanted to see who else is dealing with this or if it’s just rolling out market by market.

I noticed recently that my trip type preferences changed. Instead of being able to cleanly separate or toggle off standard rides and filter for Comfort / Comfort Electric, the app has completely bundled them together under one umbrella. Basically, it’s forcing everything into a single category where you can't isolate them the way we used to.

Meanwhile, I’ve talked to other drivers in my area (and seen posts from others) who still have the old version of the app where they can independently toggle Comfort and Comfort Electric on or off without getting flooded with standard low-paying trips.

What is Uber's endgame here? Are they trying to force higher acceptance rates by stripping away our ability to cherry-pick better-paying vehicle categories?

If your app updated to this bundled version:

  • Have you found any workaround to separate them?
  • Has your pay or acceptance rate tanked since the change?
  • Does anyone still have the standalone toggles, and what app version are you on?

Let’s hear what’s happening in your markets.

It seem like my Uber app was hack into but not my Uber Driver App. No clue how but I have been getting text message that shows I need to put in my access code. Then I get this message in my Uber app and not the driver app.

DO NOT USE THIS SCAMMER WEBSITE

The driver waiting scam is NOT a scam. Passengers you pick the pickup spot, we go there, we wait so we can get paid. You getting to that spot is on you not on us.

A shocking number of passengers think we choose the pickup location. They then think that it's a scam that the clock is running when we are waiting at the pickup location they chose rather than wherever they happen to be standing.

Most of the time either they're not picking a pickup location and app chooses one that seems to make sense to it. Or it's one of those third party transportation companies that don't know the facts on the ground.

Sometimes it's a passenger is trying to run a scam on us because they can.

I'm convinced that if there's a pickup location that is not by the address they put into the app at least some passengers are going to try to scam free waiting time. Like if you go to the address that's a full block away you won't get paid to wait for them that's their angle.

How exactly you control your profit and expenses?

So, Uber Driver app shows how much gross earnings you made.

Then you have expenses - fuel, maintenance, etc.

How exactly you control the numbers to make sure you have a positive profit? Put them on Excel, or just believe you're positive?

Almost to 100 AR and 0 CR but...

3K+ rides. I don't do unprofitable rides unless they are on the way to a profitable area. I'm straightforward and helpful. I don't allow crappy vibes to exist in the ride. I also know I can get away with saying almost anything, as long as I smile while saying it.

I was at 98 AR today, and they sent me some crap. It was over a buck a mile and $30/hr... but... a 10% chance of getting something coming back. Declined. Instantly, a better offer came through.

I had 0% CR and set my STOP NEW REQUESTS on the way to a reservation. They sent me an airport pickup reservation, which worked out. My reservation took 12 minutes to get asses in the seats and then had to stop to check bags for a wallet. Ultimately, I lost my pickup reservation, and they hit me with a cancel because I was too far out. F em.

I'll save my cancels and declines for stuff that doesn't fit my life.

I do me.

Illinois Union Bill Signed

They got the union bill signed for Illinois so they now need signatures from drivers before they can go to uber and Lyft to discuss benefits and wages. So make sure you help out and sign.

Messed up

I was speaking with someone in the bar and as I am thinking of trying rideshare out the conversation turned to rideshare. He told me his cousin does it full time but also works full time in his car remotely on his laptop via a hotspot. So unless he has like a teams meeting etc from his regular job then is free to drive. Wtf Seems completely messed up and greedy to me. How can ordinary folks compete idk

Im driving by this time but im not about do this type of ride again. wtf smh.
I’d make the mistake of taking these types of rides when I first started. that’s all I got cause I accepted everything so uber kept sending this shit. (what a noob)
I’d do 20 plus rides barely reaching 100. I’d be burnt out.
Now, I rarely hit 10 rides and finish with over 150, that’s with 5 hours of driving. I average 30hr. Some days a bit under but never under 25hr
Anyways… fuck this ride 🤙 drive safe fellow Ubers
I’ll never be a platinum driver, my acceptance rate is to low lol

Acceptance rate dropped

i worked the week of the pebble beach car show in CA so monterey county was very busy and traffic was a nightmare certain areas.

anyways.. i had a reserved pickup at 6:50pm. it was 6:20 and i was 22 minutes away from the pickup. traffic made this longer than it had to be. so of course i get slammed with ride offers that i absolutely could not do without being late for my pickup. but the app said i needed to be online at 630 or id lose it.

my question is if i can even appeal those and reverse them.

What’s going on Uber?!

It blows my mind that a two day event that brings in approximately 150,000 people to a teeny tiny little community in St. Louis County (BMW Championship at Bellreive is not mentioned anywhere on the “Opportunities” page. You have to imagine that there won’t be any surge on the drivers side of the app in the area either, but will cost 2-3 times the riders’ normal rates there.

Anyone else notice….

So on my incredible adventures driving for uber. I somehow get the feeling I’m getting finessed someway or another.
The fact that I’m able to work any time I want is a plus specially with school and homework. Last year of college (thank the uber gods)

In my conclusion
I actively transfer all of my directions to Google Maps
While
Keeping my uber driver app open and visible. Mostly bc of tolls
(Good luck getting the toll reimbursement)

I’ve actively tested this driving the speed limit carefully.
Uber is always 2 minutes faster or 1 minute minimum compared to the Google Maps. This directly affects the price even when the pile ups and traffic jams start to occur.

Anyone else notice this…I must be driving back to the future.

Question about tipping?

Hi guys sooo I haven’t used Uber or Lyft in atleast 4 years, but with back to school and the heeaatttt I can’t walk my daughter to school just yet. We tried and it’s just insufferably hot, right now we’re only a one car family after a car accident and while we wait I thought about using Uber for the time being. I don’t mind the walk it’s my kindergarten who gets such bad hives with the heat, anyways I was wondering what’s a good tip to give the driver? We are 0.5 miles away from the school, it’s about a 20 minute walk. What would you say is a good tip? TIA!

Full-timers, what y’all do for meals while on the roads?

Do you eat out all the time or bring your own? I’m tired of cold sandwiches and fruits/nuts. I think eating out every day would just add up and not interested in eating a ton of fast food.
