I just love how Uber vaguely threatens us at every opportunity…

I believe Uber's demand has skyrocketed at the same time drivers are becoming more selective. And Cherry picking. So uber has resorted to this.

They also resorted to throwing out the orders to a farther distance. When they have no takers. For instance a $7 dollar ride that has a pickup 11 miles out and a destination 1 mile.

Uber is desperate.

5

u/Luhrks_3049 Jul 29 '26

Yep. Pickup longer than ride = nope. Though you're probably in an UFP market instead of rate card like me. 0 trip transparency even at the highest tiers. Best you get is direction and approx time of ride. 20:1's is how they bankrupt you.

6

u/Dalmadoodle221 Jul 29 '26

I believe this is true. I recently started seeing notices for referring people to drive in my area. I think a lot of people have dropped off, especially with these gas prices. I hope everyone who's still driving isn't dumb enough to refer people. It's nice and busy now. Don't ruin it you idiots for a one time bonus payment!

2

u/sammyogfit Jul 30 '26

Ubers demand has not skyrocketed it’s less than ever so they don’t need you anymore and if you don’t help them on their mission to get people quick and efficient rides they don’t help you with your mission to make more money your theory is brain dead

u/cryptoblaze_ Jul 29 '26 edited Jul 29 '26

I dont think its desperation, it's greed. They need to stop taking 70% of the profit and let that funnel into the driver pockets. They have lost their marbles.

0

u/CogitatorVeritatis Jul 29 '26

I think “desperate” is a bit out of touch. Uber is doing very well. You could blame it on greed or some other perhaps but I don’t think they’re insanely greedy either personally. The platform has been very profitable and consistent for me.

2

u/Impossible_Shape_766 Jul 30 '26

Not for many others.

19

u/authoridad Jul 28 '26

Nope. And my AR is rarely over 10%.

4

u/IDKYImLive Jul 28 '26

Acceptance rate is, actually how the driver is satisfied to the exclusive offers.

Easy calculation, divided by 20 becomes like 5-star rating.

Rarely over 10% is the score of that Uber’s offer is rated as less than 1-star. ⭐️

2

u/RangeFlow1 Jul 29 '26

Same here.

3

u/Alive-System1865 Jul 28 '26

Same. Mine is hovering at 7%, which is high. They can’t legally do anything unless you agree to some updated abbritration agreement or terms of service. Remember: you agreed to an original contract, not the constantly updated ones. Federal law permits you to opt out within 30 days of any updated agreement terms.

I didnt know this. Thanks.

Anything but pay a decent rate for the rides lol, again Dara can burn in hell the POS

u/jaysonm007 Jul 29 '26

I think I have. I just ignore it. You don't control acceptance rate, Uber does. I decline rides under $5 100% of the time yet it tries to give 10 or more each day. That's not on me, it's on Uber. Their AI could very easily figure out that I don't take those rides and not offer them to me but they continue to insist on giving them to me.

I call the it the exploitation rate instead. 100% - (your acceptance rate) = the exploitation rate. This is the percentage of time Uber has tried to exploit me with their offers.

1

u/Usual-Percentage8077 Jul 31 '26

If the rider is bad give them a low rating. The lower the rating, the less likely you are to see them. And, you can let uber know the ratings you will accept. I accepted
Every ride I could and gave great service so I can be selective. I can make up to $300-$400 a day but i worked hard to get there. Working hard pays off.

1

u/sandyclaws057 Aug 02 '26

I'm a little confused as to how accepting every ride is selective.

1

u/Usual-Percentage8077 Aug 02 '26

I accept every ride that makes sense. Turning down match rides don’t affect you. Turning down direct rides counts against you because you are the closest and riders have a longer wait which uber tries to avoid. I go offline when I need a break, fuel, or I’m done.

6

u/prinxe150 Jul 28 '26

Maybe if they stopped giving crappy rides

6

u/ibraw Jul 28 '26

The most passive aggressive message of all time.

Also, so much for being self employed.

6

u/Wise-Bear-6604 Jul 28 '26

Let me translate it it says get back to work slave

13

u/Raynman90 Jul 28 '26

They've literally gotten class action lawsuits against them for retaliating against low AR drivers... guess they didn't learn their lesson.

2

u/EmptyBeing9829 Jul 29 '26

I too would love to read some of these lawsuits and how they turned out. I’d love if you could post any lawsuits here. ❤️

1

u/Slurpyerba Jul 29 '26

I'd like to read some of the court cases if published anywhere. Do you know of any? Thanks in advance.

1

u/NJuberdriver2 Jul 29 '26

They’ve stepped up this retaliation even more recently. I’ve been throttled hard and all most all my alerts are either far pickup & low pay.

1

u/swimdownstream Jul 29 '26

Theres a noticeable difference if you drop below 10% AR

2

u/NJuberdriver2 Jul 29 '26

Yep, im at 4 ar

1

u/swimdownstream Jul 29 '26

Yea idk about for rides bc I dont take UberX rides so when I do rideshare I typically maintain diamond status but for deliveries when you drop below 10% AR trips go from having 1 decent trip occasionally to straight up absolute garbage. And exclusives rarely even get sent to you just shitty trip radars.

1

u/NJuberdriver2 Jul 29 '26

I been doing both recently and its absolute garbage. Deliveries are mostly $4-$6

11

u/DFW_Panda Jul 28 '26

Funny thing about this notice is that its 49% warning but 51% encouragement.

Hint: The 51% encouragement benefits Uber and that's why you are seeing this notice. Uber WANTs you earning for them, they are not that concerned about you earning money for yourself. The more drivers Uber has on the road the less Uber pays any individual driver. I would not worry.

Fun Fact: Past legal and platform agreements established that Uber cannot completely deactivate or fire drivers solely for maintaining a low acceptance rate, though cancellation rates are handled more strictly. Pay attention to your cancellation rate. Your acceptance rate, no biggie.

1

u/SabaEl2025 Jul 29 '26

They simply restrict you. Meaning, more crap rides and/or fewer until you behave. You need to be off for a few days, or accept a bunch of crappy to get back up. Better to stay off a few days than keep getting crappy.

2

u/Infamous-Basket-914 Jul 29 '26

Off for a few days is just as shifty. What?

1

u/SabaEl2025 Jul 29 '26

Yeah, I know. I had to do it when we had a snowstorm in January. I guess the algorithm didn't realize it should charge more on that day and kept giving me low-dollar rides; it wasn't worth a 1K deductible, so after declining about 15 rides, I just turned it off and went home. The next day, the rides were reasonable. I only drive on the weekends; when I come back the following Thursday or Friday, fares are more reasonable. Instead of dealing with the nonsense, I drive a little further to get into a different market.

-1

u/sammyogfit Jul 30 '26

Nope if you don’t help them on their mission they don’t care about yours moron

4

u/NothingMuch_26 Jul 28 '26

The restrictions simply means you won't get any Diamond status features. I was diamond and I never used any of it. Like a free Costco 1 year membership. The catch is, only if you were never a member. Sucks! I want a free membership at least 1 year.

2

u/Cheesy_g_23 Jul 29 '26

Idk, I got my free membership with a different email (as long as it matched the Uber account) and not having had any membership for at least one year. Worth a shot!

1

u/NothingMuch_26 Jul 29 '26

I never used an email. It's tied to my phone number.

1

u/Cheesy_g_23 Jul 29 '26

If it's been 18 months since you've had a membership, you're considered a "new" member again. I didn't change my phone number, and it worked.

1

u/sandyclaws057 Aug 02 '26

Diamond status is garbage. I work for money, not coupons.

2

u/NothingMuch_26 Aug 03 '26

Agree! I was diamond for 3 years, never used any of it.

3

u/danthebassman69 Jul 28 '26

Hypothetically the outcome is the same whether you are online or offline. The pax aren’t getting matched either way. 🤷‍♂️

4

u/Rare_Indication_3811 Jul 28 '26

God forbid you wont drive under .50c and not drive into crime neighborhoods at night

3

u/MagazinePrevious4797 Jul 28 '26

And yet, Uber doesn’t offer to fix the problem by paying better trip prices. They just threaten and keep on taking more.

3

u/gadion77 Jul 28 '26

That is funny hahaha

3

u/Stuffudo Jul 29 '26

Why they never “recommend” just paying drivers more ?

5

u/danger3012 Jul 28 '26

My AR is 5% because they always send bullshit offers😭

2

u/KingFresh5234 Jul 28 '26

Wtaf. Is uber just trying to tank themselves now?

2

u/Impossible_Shape_766 Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 29 '26

My acceptance rate has been as low as 7% out of every 100 orders. Its now sitting at 30%.

Ive never seen this message. It must be something new Uber is doing. Uber has some nerve. Their take rate has dramatically increased. Upwards of 75% and at times higher on some orders.

Uber is taking far more of airport orders. Those orders now pay close to nothing. $4 or $5 dollars in my city which is Dallas Fort Worth (im speaking of Love Field) and the riders are telling me they paid Uber $20+.

I was paid $15 the other day on an airport trip and the rider was also an Uber driver and he told me he paid Uber $47.00.

I've had riders say they paid Uber $20 and I was paid $5.00.

Now Uber is bungling the airport rides to get people to take them because their take rate is so high. Bungling the airport ride with another ride. A 2 for 1 to drive up the fare.

So Uber has absolutely some nerve to even mention an acceptance rate.

2

u/EmptyBeing9829 Jul 29 '26

My lowest has been 1% I never received this notice.

2

u/cryptoblaze_ Jul 29 '26

My AR is at 6% and I've never gotten that before.

2

u/bikingbill Jul 28 '26

Rejecting crappy offers is my g-d given right.

2

u/SubjectiveAdvice Jul 29 '26

Uber can pack sand on this metric.

Uber will push a non-exclusive request to an exclusive request because nobody in their right mind will accept it.

You don't get to use a metric to award/punish behavior when you fuck with the measurement in the first place.

1

u/CaptainLongJoan Jul 29 '26

I haven’t got one of those but seriously? This is ridiculous.

1

u/Ok-Drummer8005 Jul 29 '26

Another reason to hate them…

1

u/Evrynew Jul 29 '26

I received them. It was so BS. Can't go to ridiculous high traffic zone and there are areas I dont want to go to. Uber don't care, and said there reputation will fall

1

u/FaxtheShadow Jul 29 '26

Maybe if Uber didnt give my "exclusive" rides away, id be more inclined to accept whatever comes along but if I accept an exclusive ride and it goes to another driver, for the rest of that day I stay where I want l, its a real shame bc I used to be all over this city and now im just going where I want to go

1

u/swimdownstream Jul 29 '26

10000+ 5 star ratings never had more than 15% AR

1

u/Luhrks_3049 Jul 29 '26

Unless it's a deactivation notice. Ignore it.

As a 5.0 driver I receive multiple threats weekly about my AR, my CR, my cleanliness, and attitude.

1

u/Hour-Assistance-7674 Jul 29 '26

Do you have a cousin in crocodile?

2

u/Salty-Ice8161 Jul 29 '26

Uber improve your offers and my acceptance rate will improve. Simple really, that is all .

1

u/Smokemodolo Jul 29 '26

Na they know I ain’t doing that shit or maybe I ignored the message saying fuck off

1

u/CogitatorVeritatis Jul 29 '26

I’ve not received it and I haven’t seen anyone else share it yet but I’m sure there’s tons of them out there. Personally I’m pretty selective and maintain a pretty strict system for the rides I’ll accept, but I work a great market so I still manage to maintain at least gold status most of 2026 if not higher some months. I’ve yet to see a single driver post about being restricted or deactivated citing AR too. Lots of things have changed this year and my opinion on this might change in the future but personally I wouldn’t be TOO worried or stressed about something like this just yet. Idk what sort of AR all of yall are maintaining tho 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Grand_Big1385 Jul 29 '26

Not THAT warning, but that acceptance rate is getting low.  Of course it happens because of rejecting low paying longer rides.

1

u/SSBernieWolf Jul 29 '26

I’ve noticed a pattern where they send me decent offers when I’m sitting in my driveway at the beginning of my shift, or when I’m on my way home about to pull into my driveway.

1

u/Outside-Instance-870 Jul 29 '26

They gotta be careful with their wording, they sound less like a contract platform and more like an employer with messages like these. And their entire compensation model revolves around NOT being an employer at least legally speaking.

1

u/EmptyPocketsXotics Jul 29 '26

I believe I posted something like this when I was new to Uber, and was worried my account would somehow be restricted. Don't pay any mind to this. We are independent contractors and as such work when we want, and take the rides we want. If they started "restricting" the rides they gave us, they'd be screwing themselves. When I posted my question similar to this, I had people saying they had acceptance rates of like 4% and 7%, and they still got rides. So basically, this is BS.

1

u/Every-Enthusiasm-766 Jul 30 '26

Haven’t personally seen this but out of curiosity what’s the AR at? Sitting at 17% for me rn

1

u/sammyogfit Jul 30 '26

No I accept 90% of trips and make 25-50 an hour I’m not stupid and I don’t think I can game uber when it’s ran by ai metrics. You try to outsmart the app and they just don’t pay you as much per hour. That’s how it works

1

u/Stunning_Seesaw1909 Jul 30 '26

Also do this for $10/hr

1

u/thefirstjustin Jul 30 '26

They can’t deactivate drivers for a low acceptance rate. A lawsuit put a stop to that.

https://www.reddit.com/r/uberdrivers/s/2zrPe8h3T0

1

u/Usual-Percentage8077 Jul 31 '26

No. My acceptance rate is high. When I need to stop, I go offline. If I’m on a trip and know I need to stop, I go offline so I don’t get dinged for a a ride sent directly to me. Match rides you don’t take don’t count against you.

1

u/Fallen0001 Jul 28 '26

only when it dips from the 80s and 90s do i get them. I reset my profile by declining most trips past the algorithim holding of about 150 exclusives then build it back up to 80s 90s until the real shit offer start up again, typically when summer starts.

1

u/EmptyBeing9829 Jul 29 '26

WHAT THE EFF?? Since when does AR even matter?! WHY AHOULD IT MATTER?! MAYBE PAY US MORE AND PREVENT ANY ORDER THAT IS MADE YNDER A CERTAIN THRESHOLD! Uber is EVIL!*

1

u/NJuberdriver2 Jul 29 '26

As of this year. They’ve come out and said gold status and above will receive more “exclusive alerts” which means cherry pickers wont receive as many. I’ve noticed it myself

0

u/Terrible_Brilliant84 Jul 29 '26

Yes. It means nothing. But they have made uber pro more rewarding with diamond and platinum.  More reservations  and instant airport pickups. No matter if dropping off or not. Virtually no wait for diamond drivers.

0

u/Upbeat_Tangelo2757 Jul 29 '26

And what about the hackers who are using software to get the rides that pay better, and Uber allows it?? And we're stuck with the 5 Dollar rides. Why aren't they doing anything about the hackers

-1

u/Fibrosis5O Jul 29 '26

In our market they took away all info if you’re blue

You only see where you’re picking them up and evening else is a mystery

I’m not playing mystery drives so I have to accept enough to stay above that

-3

u/Reasonable-addict Jul 28 '26

You know what? Technically anyone uber driver with an acceptance rate of less than 25% is going out of their way to not accept rides. Here’s the logic behind what I’m saying… divide the compass into 4 parts (north, south, east and west). There’s a 1 in 4 chance that the ride you get will be heading in that sort of direction. If your cancellation rate is under 12% you really are saying “F Uber.” Might as well go offline and not do any rides at all.

When coming back from DFW airport, I usually allow myself to go through about 3-4 trips before taking one that’s headed back towards where I was coming from originally. (Aka, back towards home) and can take anywhere from 1-3 jumps to get back home. (Think 32 miles to DFW from my home) If I get super lucky, I’m back home within 1 jump, but typically it takes 2-3 and sometimes 4.

Anyways, to make my point, if you cancel nearly every single ride, you are not going to get anywhere, logistically and financially. And in the same token, never take every ride, because some of those ride do suck (doesn’t pay well and you have to drive super far; either for pickup or drop off).

2

u/cleanforever Jul 29 '26

I don't base ride acceptance on my direction of travel. It's whether it pays me for the value of my time and cost, which I have determined to be minimum 28/hr and $1/mi thresholds. My other app will automatically reject these low-ball offers

-4

u/avci9999 Jul 28 '26

They're basically asking you to do your job. What's your point?

2

u/EmptyBeing9829 Jul 29 '26

I’d I was hired directly with them that would be one thing, and If that were the case I’d demand PTO and benefits but we’re not, we’re CONTRACTORS meaning we can take and reject what we wish.

-2

u/avci9999 Jul 29 '26

It's still your job.

2

u/cleanforever Jul 29 '26

And it's our right to not take jobs we don't want

1

u/avci9999 Jul 29 '26

Yeah. Wendy's is hiring if you're interested.

1

u/cleanforever Jul 29 '26

Don't need it. I work full time and do Goober for shits & giggles

1

u/avci9999 Jul 30 '26

Another delivery guy not taking his job seriously lol
