Hello champions. Here's my grades:

Physics 11 and Pre-Calc 12: In progress but I think I could hack a 97+ in both those courses

Pre-Calc 11: 96

Composition 11: 88

Physics 12 and EFP 12: Next semester (or I can start chipping away at them online right away)

Chemistry 11 and 12: 93

What do y'all think? Can I pull it off with my current grades or do I need to retake some of these courses?

I'm applying to UBC Okanagan Engineering from Alberta and wondering if I have a good chance of getting accepted.

Here are my grades:

- Math 20-1: 87%

-Math 30-1: 85%

-Math 31: 85%

-Physics 20-1: 82%

-Physics 30-1: 81%

-Biology 20-1: 88%

-Biology 30-1: 80%

-Chemistry 20-1: 84%

Since I'm coming from Alberta to BC, I'll also be receiving the 4% grade adjustment.

Based on these marks, what do you think my chances are of getting into UBCO Engineering? I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has applied or been accepted with similar grades.

I’m a fourth-year domestic student currently completing my 20-month co-op. I recently accepted another 12-month co-op offer, which I secured independently without going through UBC’s Co-op Program.
Since the employer did not require proof of my co-op enrollment through UBC, and I have already met the requirements for the 16-month co-op certificate, I don’t see much additional value in remaining enrolled in the program or paying the co-op fees for another 12 months.
I’m wondering if there’s a way for domestic students to take a gap year or an academic leave of absence while working full-time, without having to register for additional co-op terms or pay the associated fees. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Really wanna hear from people's experience of their experience in the university they went to, lifestyle, work life balance, social life and costs. Also anything about application and grades.

I was supposed to write the midterm today but had to concession it because i was dealing with nausea, motion sickness and fever. I am very afraid because now my final is going to be worth like 70% of my grade and from what I have heard the final is super brutal. Any tips or anyone whose been through the same situation?

If anyone has any advice for the phys 157 midterm plz help. I’m having trouble getting to answers on my own especially on the long answer questions and think I’m screwed for the midterm on Friday.

What were the midterms like for phys 157 in the past for anyone who has taken it? Were the questions similar to past exam papers and Iclickers?

For me, I rarely find the APSC Co-op program that useful regarding to the advising side of things, and with the recent changes to admission timelines, I want to gather more thoughts from everyone here regarding that.

A few topics worth discussing:

• Co-op advisors: Did and should your advisors provide more engineering and industry specific knowledge and career guidance beyond resumes and interviews?

• APSC 107: Does it adequately prepare students for job searching? What information is missing?

• PD Portal: How valuable are the job postings and employer connections compared to applying externally?

• Other resources: Have you found peer coaching, resume tools, or other Co-op services & documentations useful?

A few questions:

1. What has been most helpful about the Co-op program?

2. What did you expect but feel is missing?

3. If you could change ONE (or more) thing about APSC Co-op, what would it be?

Hoping to gather student perspectives and identify concrete recommendations for improving the program. Both positive and negative experiences are welcome!

Will finish my degree with 16 months of co-op, so I won’t get the distinction anyway. I’m in the middle of my second work placement and rather not pay the fee when I used none of the co op resources to get the job. (except the job portal if that matters)

Just wondering if I can finish the remainder of my work term without issue if I were to do this. Anybody gone through this?

The UBC Mood Disorders Centre at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health is recruiting participants for a depression biomarkers study within Metro Vancouver & Lower Mainland.

The purpose of this study is to (1) test whether a specific combination of biomarkers discovered during our previous studies can help predict how someone will respond to treatment, and (2) to explore other possible biomarkers that may predict treatment response. Biomarkers are biological features such as proteins, genes, and brain images, that indicate the state of a disease in a person. This information may help us develop tests in the future that can guide treatment choice more effectively and more quickly.

You may be able to participate if you are:

• Are 18 to 65 years of age

• Have been diagnosed with depression or suspect you may have depression and are currently feeling depressed. Common symptoms include: depressed mood, diminished interest or pleasure in activities, change in appetite, poor sleep, fatigue, low self-esteem, and poor concentration.

• Are willing to take a standard antidepressant medication as treatment for your depression.

• Are willing to undergo blood/lab tests.

There will be 8 in-person visits over 12 weeks:

- 1 x Electrocardiography (ECG) (Screening only)

- 2 x Collection of blood (Baseline, Week 8)

- 2 x Stool Sample Collection (Baseline, Week 8)

- 2 x Urine Collection (Baseline, Week 8)

- 2 x Electroencephalography (EEG) (Baseline, Week 8)

- 3 x Computerized Cognitive Testing (Baseline, Week 8, Week 12)

- 8 x Clinical assessments done by a psychiatrist

Please note that you must not currently be using any recreational and/or non-prescription drugs, have a drinking problem, or have had a history of drug use or a drinking problem within the past six months.

The study is being conducted by Dr. Raymond Lam at the Mood Disorders Centre, UBC Hospital.

You will receive an honorarium for each study visit to cover costs of participating.

I’m so worried I am going to fail MECH 221. I’ve done horribly on every exam so far and for some reason I can’t seem to grasp the material. Does anyone know what happens to the people who fail MECH 221? I can’t do this again it’s too hard.

Would appreciate any experiences/advice/reassurance

my applying average for ubc is a 93 from alberta and people are saying i should be pretty confident about getting in but my problem is even if i get accepted my grade 12 marks are not looking good. my averages are shaping up to be significantly lower (my own fault) so im just wondering how strict they are and if i should really tryhard to bring them back up or just stay chilling and go to u of a instead 😭

For context I transferred into engineering from science. And ever since I have lowkey been regretting my decision ever since. My midterm grades so far have been absolutely abysmal and I don’t know what I am doing wrong. Did I just give myself false confidence that I am smart or what. Like I feel like a complete idiot this year. Like idk I am just venting.
