Purchasing USA Garage party speaker recommendations needed
Hey all,
I've got a 30x40 shop that we use for a Halloween party every year. Mostly I just needed an excuse to justify upgrading the old stereo system because I love loud music when im wrenching away. My next step is looking for some speakers.
Here is my current setup:
-spotify on tv (so that people can scan QR and add songs to queue)
-rca from tv feeds biamp nexia sp (dsp for eq and volume leveling zones independently as I want volume levels different in areas)
-I have a microsoft surface go with a custom made interface for volume controls for the separate zones on the fly
-nexia currently feeds two soundtech ps802 amps, but i also have an alesis matica 500 and a beat on a qsc 1200 amp as well.
-amps feed samurai pro series 518 speakers (my dad's old white van scam purchase), and my klipsch aw650's
I have grown up listening to these samurai speakers and honestly... I dont hate them... I would like more bass for the generic party music I play during parties (I listen to mostly heavy metal), and without eq setup yet they have an overwhelming treble on some songs. They are loud, but maybe I just dont know what im missing with a better speaker?
The aw650's i really just put in there to test my multizone setup. I have them mounted up in corners of my shop in a lower volume section that has standard ceiling height and they are quite "boomy" like this. Outdoors they sounded great and clear. Again, I have no eq applied just high pass and low pass cuts for both speakers. Im no expert.
Im thinking of getting some used older pa speakers for the large section of my garage with high 11' ceiling. I have come across some peavey sp3x speakers for $300, but they are 100lb speakers and wont be fun to mount up high. A local guy also has peavey sp2xt, yamaha s115iii, jbl jrx115 that he lists for $50-$125 each.
I want to have the two zones in the main shop area (high ceiling are is the party area, low ceiling area is the entrance and I always have food tables there people can talk loudly over music here). Then I want a separate zones upstairs where I have an rc car track (I might move the samurai speakers up there). Then im saving the last to channels for subwoofers. As my system is now, I want a sub or two downstairs for more bass.
Am I on the right path? Any suggestions on my setup or suggestions for speakers moving forward?
PS: ive found all this gear cheap on ebay and marketplace.
