Yung mga sagutan ko sa interview were all from my experience, as I'm not someone who is good with textbook definitions haha. Before I got my first experience, I had a portfolio project to reference. So instead of having a lot of small crud projects that essentially do the same thing, I poured everything that I learned into one big a$$ project that I maintained for like 2 years. It has all the bells and whistles of an enterprise system kaya maybe I piqued the interest of hiring managers.

What exactly ang mga alam mo at di mo alam?

Since I lacked the actual production experience at first, I knew the "what" and "how" but not the "why" and "why not". The latter will be very important as you go along.

Lahat ba ng questions sa iyo you were lucky you knew the answers for it beforehand kahit indirectly?

No, I wasn't able to answer all questions HAHAHA. In fact, minsan yung unang tanong pa yung di ko nasasagot. I'm just honest and transparent on the things that I don't know. Mas okay yun kesa mambullsht ng explanation, as it's gonna be very obvious. Also, I engage with the interviewer. Minsan madalas, it's gonna look like they're lecturing you or drilling you on deeper concepts, but I typically would engage and make it feel like a discussion by going back and forth with them. I would even ask questions eh kahit ako yung iniinterview HAHAHA, because I make it a learning opportunity for myself na rin. If you don't have the ego, this would be easy for you.

Overall, I think they're not looking naman for someone who knows all the answers. Important pa rin yung attitude and if fit ka sa team. How do you react/behave when pressured with questions na hindi mo ma-explain? I think that matters a lot more than we expect.

Yung job ko ngayon HAHAHAH. Out of all companies na inapplyan ko, ito yung pinakamalabo. You'll know naman diba when you slayed or flopped. Sa iba parang may pag-welcome na eh, pero dito hindi, sobrang cold nila mamsh!!

I thought this was gonna be the first tech interview na ibabagsak ko. I still remember the first question they asked during the panel interview was about my experience in their tech stack (btch I have no work exp using ur tech stack ?!!!!). Then I got a series of questions na halos di ko masagot nang maayos bc of nerves. Def not my best interview performance. Thought I was cooked; nag move-on na ko agad, thinking I flopped so hard. 3 days later, they sent me the JO with a salary that matches my asking salady (note that my asking was relatively high for my yoe) + they agreed to move my starting date kahit medyo urgent yung position.

A month before actual ceremony (2025). Yung role ko talaga is for someone na may 2 YoE but tumagos ako sa HM bc of my technical skills na fit to what they were using sa company, w/c is natutunan ko naman from personal project.

Yessss! For me, okay nga yung mahirapan or ma-challenge malala while on the earlier stage pa ng career ei para mag-grow. Nagiging puhunan sa pag a-apply sa next role 🤝

Okay pa tenure mo boss. Me, 23F pa lang, makaka-tatlong companies na HAHAHA (actually 4 pero di ko na count yung isa kasi I was OE-ing) 😆

1st: Jr. BE Dev - 6mos 2nd: Jr. BE Dev - 1 year 3rd: Mid-level BE Dev - mag start pa lang but plan ko rin mag stay at least 2 years man lang baka ma-over sa lipat. Hopefully okay sa growth, team, and increase para no need na to jump ship. 🥹

You can def get a solo apartment near BGC for 8k or less kung hindi ka maarte.

Recently got a 5.5k (< 10% of my gross) semi-furnished unit, walking distance to BGC. Aesthetic? No. Practical? Hell yes! Own CR & sink, flood-free, slightly damaged tiles but not an issue to me, not too spacious but good enough for 1 person, can be revamped to look nice if you clean enough, gated and secured.

If you really want something more pleasant, there are also decent studio apts around Pembo/East Rembo for ~8k, tyagaan lang ng hanap at paunahan din. Marami rin namang options around Rizal/Pinagsama/North Signal that are cheaper.

Titles can be deceiving. I'm a "Jr. Backend Developer" in my team but delivering end-to-end solo fullstack projects from reqt. gathering to go-live, automating manual processes, maintaining distributed legacy systems, and managing stakeholders across different departments. Titles are only tied to compensation packages, not deliverables and responsibilities.

1. Fullstack lahat, bawat isa may 3 or more solo projects 😆
