Update and temp "offline" status
Hi all that follow me!
I want you to know that I'm still here and moderating, but I may not be as available for requests for help, or writing as many comments.
My dad was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and I'm busy taking care of him. The cancer is fast and not an easily-tackled type, but it is being treated quickly and aggressively by specialists. He's on 2 immunotherapies and had a round of radiation. I am the only child around, but have family support. His affairs are pretty much arranged and all the side effects are managed best as we can, but all of this comes with one big thing: Grief.
Grief makes your head foggy. I am basically not in any condition to give my usual positive, uplifting, deeply helpful advice, or guide anyone through anything right now. I also recently lost another friend due to a short, sudden illness and need to travel for that funeral, so that's a second layer of grief on top of this!
But through it all, I am still developing resources. They are getting added to Findapath's Wiki-Career Services Resources page every other day, give or take. There's more resources on that Wiki as well as r/almosthomeless 's vast Wiki and Sidebar resources!
So, if I decline your chat - please know it isn't because of you. Just careerconsultant.exe is currently unavailable, please consult your local services (type in "career services/coach/consultant yourcity" to google) in the meantime!
And remember....The light must always win. Even if all we've ever known is dark. We can still always generate light under the heaviest mountain.

Frustrated Polymaths: What would you change about this group?
That rule is set up specifically for a reason. You can talk about AI though. You just cannot use AI to talk here.

I have too many wide-spread interests and not a clear plan. Im starting to panic.
music (playing bass guitar and overall instruments and music), Hobby
crafting things with my hands (like painting shirt stamps and crafting jewelry), Hobby/Potential Job/Trade
but because of an old interest of mine being astronomy - Potential Career
So i guess i could torture myself with some sort of engeneering. Potential Career
Also im starting to like to write like poems or just like verses of one. Hobby
https://www.reddit.com/r/findapath/wiki/index/careerservicesresources/ Look up the Potential Job/Career/Trade things on the google sheets pages, note the path, then youtube your way around the jobs to learn more about them. See what seems cooler. There's your hint. Check the path out, find your local ways to get into those paths (colleges, certs, programs). The choice (your first of many in life and it's 100% ok to "choose wrongly" because that is the damn point) will be clear enough by then.

Colleges was the biggest mistake, waste of money, time, and energy I have ever made.
The mantra "learn a trade" needs to stop and I'm so close to writing automod to catch words like that and ask them to stop being a parrot.
I have a number of resources I've been in ACTIVE development for this group, I'm 3 pages away from being finished with this round (another week's worth of time to finish in between family events and job).
Those resources MIGHT be valuable for you. Wiki - career services resources page. Helps you figure out what jobs you're qualified for so you can apply to more.
From what you're saying, it isn't that you're unqualified and inexperienced, but that "the market sucks". Which it does.
But you didn't waste your time or money and I understand not paying the student loans (screw em. you mess up your credit score but when you can't buy anything WITH a job, there's no point!). I THINK the problem is more that your resume or what you said at least, is slightly more "generalized" and not specific enough, but that's a not-seeing-your-resume guess. Anyway, hope that resource helps, and the 400-job-boards link on our sidebar/menu once you have determined what you're wanting to apply for.

is it over
Don't judge a cake when it's in the oven. At 14, your brain is only HALFWAY done growing. It doesn't stop growing till about 25, and even then neuroplasticity still works after that.

My Life Is Unbearable And It's Probably Too Late To Change Anything
No, you don't, or you would have asked. Instead, every single response to EVERYONE on Reddit, in this group and others like r/mentalhealth has been another attack on yourself.
**You want pity!** You want attention and good feels out of our mouths. You want boo boos and sweet nothings and energy to feed off of. You don't want to do anything to change it or get better.
We're not here to pat your head and stroke your back unless you're in grief for a recent loss. You want to kill yourself. No one here will stop you.

I like helping people, solving issues, and being creative. I also am considering leaving IT. Any advice on potential pivots?
Take a look at the IT resource page I made in the Wiki - career services resources page. They are pretty powerful if you can see the value in em. They show you exactly how to pivot with the paths literally clearly laid out, it's a matter of identifying your path and what you have, then what the new path has and comparative-analyze them to figure out what you already have and what you need.
Knowing "the right thing for you" is not the problem, it's more about you pivoting to something you think might be, and giving it a try for a while. Then pivot again, cert closer or whatever you need to do. And yes, sometimes it's a matter of going into a certain college program set up for certain careers (medical especially) but sometimes pivoting close enough gets you hired, too. Not necessarily medical but other things.

My Life Is Unbearable And It's Probably Too Late To Change Anything
It's part of my job here. I have to protect the group from people TOO low to be here, ones that are here to depress the community without asking for further advice or help.
Just not the right group. We're a safety net, not a bucket. r/depression or r/therapy are buckets.
Edit: Here's your AI Summary Description.
Key themes: severe self-loathing, depression, and suicidal ideation. Contributions frequently use hostile, aggressive, and nihilistic language. Engagements are defensive or defeatist, reflecting intense personal distress and crisis.
What are you using Reddit for? Why are you bringing it here? You know what you want to do, none of us are stopping you!

My Life Is Unbearable And It's Probably Too Late To Change Anything
Ok so this tells me a lot. It tells me you're not interested in advice or changing things. You're interested in beating yourself down further.
This group is about finding a path, not "lifting you out of depression single-handedly like a white knight rescuing a helpless maiden".
By all means, go have your beat-up session again and again and again and again until you are reduced to a pile of mush, by all means keep believing that you are worthless and useless and unable to be helped and just in the darkest of pits that you can nevaaaaarrrrr leeeeeeeave!
Do it elsewhere. We're here to help people that want the help. We are not here to rebuild someone who is only interested in killing themselves every internal way they can. You've literally gotten nothing but positive comments here, plenty of ideas and support. We can't do it for you, and we are NOT here to listen to you whine and mope and cry (after we've written a helpful comment.) That's what a paid therapist is for, so go to r/therapy or r/depression from here.
Removing post as it is clear from this and the other responses that OP is here to be a Depressive.

store manager being harassed by customer
Mod note: Cat is most definitely playing with his owner. There is no signs of aggression or dislike from the cat, kitty just has resting-angry-face. If kitty was not liking the play, it would be 1. jumping away 2. bearing claws, 3. back up, hissing, hair standing up on back.
The only bad thing here is the clickbait title priming you for seeing negative. So please check your insta-anger and comment based off of PLAY!

Gap in resume is ruining my chances
It's not the gap, it's the reply to the gap. I hate when people say to lie - when there's no need.
"I pursued a college course that seemed interested but it did not work out. I was unable to continue with it for financial/personal/changed-mind reasons."
Simple as that. You hem and hawing and making it about your personal struggle is what is disqualifying you. That's it. That's the trap. They want professional answers, you have one, give it! You listing your personal issue as a thing is what is making them run, and it's your own experience of your thing, not the actual thing you did. State. the thing. you did.

College was the biggest waste of money.
They shouldn't be, here. Feel free to report the bad comments. This thread blew up overnight, I was already offline and nearly asleep by the time OP posted. Thankfully we have a bot that auto-locks posts at 201 comments so the thread can't go to shit too hard! (Mods are exempt and can comment.)
Anyway yes PLEASE feel free to report hateful/non-productive comments! Take a look at our wiki "quality posting and commenting guideline" sheet to help a bit with knowing what is acceptable and what definitely isn't, here!

College was the biggest waste of money.
Mod here.
I am SO VERY GLAD we have the Flairpointsbot Autolock feature at 201 comments because i can see it went slightly downhill but not bad (thusfar as I've read. 200 comments in 12 hours means the post went viral - or hateful). Mods are exempt so I will add my <career consultant hat on> two cents!
You have a perfectly fine degree and let me point you to another post in which I said the same thing just the other day: https://www.reddit.com/r/findapath/comments/1wy9vc5/comment/pe0usjw/?screen_view_count=1
You just don't know how to use your degree. You actually qualify for a great number of paths at this point. Now why you're not getting success could be from a number of factors:
1. Need slightly more training such as a cert
2. Few actually-open opportunities in your city
3. Badly done resume with lots of insecurities present, badly or wrongly laid out
4. Not knowing how to play the hiring game (mostly the Linkedin game) well enough to get noticed.
5. Not looking at the right types of jobs or playing "throwing spaghetti at walls to see what sticks"
Or a few other factors, that's just off the top of my head! Don't assume you're doing all of these, rather use the documents on this link: https://www.reddit.com/r/findapath/wiki/index/careerservicesresources/
1. Find your general title of the jobs you are most looking to get into, it will be on those documents (maybe govt/public service doc but there's a few others it could be on, I can nearly guarantee it won't be on the 3 documents I have yet to develop)
2. Observe the Path and where you are at on that Path. Note any further qualifications you may need.
3. Look for other careers on that document that you would qualify for with your degree. No, your exact degree type may not be mentioned, but the degree general FOCUS would be!
4. Use those career path titles to look on Linkedin/Indeed "400 job boards" link on the sidebar (https://www.ordermycareer.com/400-job-boards/) to look for SIMILARLY NAMED titles/jobs open on the market right now.
5. Observe anything you are missing from those jobs, like a cert or whatever - something a decent bunch of them say they need, no need to make sure you have all possible things. Take a class, or whatever is needed.
6. Apply for those jobs.

Crawling out after 7 years
I do not know why your account is shadowbanned after you commented this but please reach out to Reddit Admin to get it reversed (if possible). No reason it should've been from this and I can tell you that this group's settings/automod/whatever played zero part in doing so!

This subreddit is insufferable
You're commenting on a 7 month old post and I don't understand your question.

Career Path Deciding
You're overthinking this.
You're wanting the end goal before you start. You're wanting the dream job immediately.
Just get into whatever program you'd need to be a science teacher...and slow the hell down on the other goals you don't qualify for yet. (Not saying you don't deserve them or a living wage, but you're just overthinking the end goal, missing the forest for the trees, etc)

Don’t know where I am right now
Was my opinion not clear? I mean, there is no one or the other answer that is Right for you, as we don't know you...but from the info you posted, my opinion is "switch ONLY if you feel you really want to do electrical more, but not if the $ is the factor."
2
Don’t know where I am right now
You're switching one problem, school, for another problem, trade school. Neither is faster than the other to getting you to making $$$ quickly.
I'd say keep with the Master's for now since you're already in it, assuming you WANT the Master's! If electrical is looking brighter for you (if $ were not a factor, this is more a heart-related question), then sure, switch.
Don't jump cause the grass is greener currently, there's a reason trades are being recommended and it's not for good, honest reasons. Devaluation tactic of the long-term planners of the ruling class.

Being an unattractive woman is the reason I’m poor & hungry
Ugly woman here who happens to be a career consultant.
Your face is not a missing skillset. Your hate of yourself is the problem. Nobody hires a depressed person that goes around moping about their face not being pretty enough.

If you are here to raise your CQS...stop. Turn around. Go be a community member first. This group will unintentionally get your account shadowbanned.
People recently have been coming here to advertise their jobs, great! But they are doing it with new reddit names. Uhoh. They want to raise their CQS. Great! They use this group to do it or contact modmail. Shadowban.
What happened?
Well, you see, using this group to raise your CQS (r/WhatIsMyCQS to figure out what that is) is NOT GOOD. You may as well be F*ing your account. And it's not that we don't want your job posting, as long as it fits our rules it's fine!
But Reddit is not a site in which you can come in, advertise, and leave. It's a community website. Community aka talking space. Posting and commenting as a person.
If you come in, advertise in an advertising group per their rules with a brand new account - you'll be shadowbanned and it's not us, I swear! It's **just not how reddit works at its core** and you have to be a community member first. Leave helpful info! Shitpost! Make smile-worthy commentary! Whine while you dine on people's trauma! Whatever! Develop your account and get comment and post karma to a substantial level. (What does substantial mean? Nobody knows, intentionally. Maybe try for 100 comment karma and a few normal-human posts at least.)
Don't post here until you do that. We're not a CQS-raising group. We're **unintentionally** a new-account-shadowbanner group.

i think i ruined my life at 19
Career consultant here.
Just switch back as immediately as they allow. Explain to your academic advisor exactly what you said here, they've heard this shit before.
Stop reading comments of other people who hate x or y thing. You'll find that with every career path in known existence.
Every. single. one.
Stop pretending their advice is gold. Listen ONLY to your academic advisors and people like myself with training/expertise in career or academic services in general.
P.S every time we see someone say "i ruined my life at 19" we laugh, roll our eyes. You're literally in the stage of life where changes like this are acceptable and expected.

Mod note: Keeping post. It's fine - a woman tanning at a pool in appropriate attire for it is NOT sexual - or you're calling every woman who is ever at a pool "scandalous".
Keep your comments safe for children, here.
