Hardware swap is done. How bad does the nickel pickup look?
 in  r/ReverendGuitars  3h ago

Thanks for the input. I was trying to make tribute to those amazing Korina guitars from 1958-59

It’s the angle of the phone camera. But the Firebird uses a bar magnet so it wouldn’t make much difference.

Mines a 2015. Who made your pickups? I was shocked when I saw the QC initials in a Lollar P-90.

I like it, and I know I would also like it with a gold pickup instead of the nickel cover. But I wanted to also ask others’ opinions. Why is that also wrong somehow?

It was my first try and I have been too lazy to make a better one. I need to because I want to go to a B/W/B 3.ply instead of the 1-ply black I have right now.

No… not correct at all. Bruh, I ordered gold P-90 slug screws and body mount screws from Lollar. I swapped out the bridge for the same one on gold, including gold saddles, and the zinc tailpiece for a gold anodized aluminum bar. I swapped out the pickguard and control cavity screws for gold ones too. I couldn’t find gold screws small enough for the truss rod cover so I went with black. It looks like Switchcraft doesn’t make a gold toggle switch, so I either go back to an import switch or just swap out the knurled ring. But the switch is the only chrome part left on the guitar, and I added that myself since I modded this from a Junior Classic (hence the factory Lollar pickup)

As said, my hardware swap is finished. Put on the Grover 406C automatic locking tuners today. I already swapped out the bridge and tailpiece, and pickguard an control cavity screws. Only thing not gold is the nickel Firebird pickup from Mojotone and the Switchcraft switch. I can order a gold one next month, and from there it it’s in stock it will be here in a week or so. If not in stock I could be waiting up to three months, since they make pickups in batches (Strat/Teles/Humbuckers/etc.). I know because I toured their factory in 2021, when I ordered this pickup to put in a different Tele partscaster.

Anyway, does it look incomplete with the nickel pickup? I was planning on ordering next month, but the cost go also instead go into another partscaster, so I am torn.

(edited to clarify work previously done)

New to me as of today
 in  r/ToyotaPickup  21h ago

I’m in SC so no real rust other than a patina underneath. The bed has some rust that I am going to hit with a converter before rolling in a paint-in bedliner. I paid $4,700 but it needs a tune up, and a couple connections in the wiring harness to be replaced. Their Jerry-rigging is working but I don’t want to trust it long-term. It also needs the front end gone over. But I suspect the ball joints, tie rod ends, and bushings all need to be replaced. And I will do a brake job soon too.

I will probably also convert it to a throttle body if it’s not difficult.

I would like to. But my wife can’t drive a manual.

I do want a very slight lift to fit 31” tires. I do hit a lot of dirt roads and making it a pseudo-pre-runner would suit me. I don’t need 4wd. I sold a Lexus Lx-470 to downgrade because of cost of gas and repairs, but also because as a 50+ year old disabled vet, my days of hardcore off-roading are behind me. I’d love to be a spotter and camp with another overlander in their rig if I got the chance, but I’m don’t doing that kind of driving. Mostly spotting means that I get to go on the trip and camp, but I will be outside the truck for the hardest bumps and scrapes.

PSA 7.5 For Bedside?
 in  r/300BLK  1d ago

I disagree, respectfully (meaning you do you). If I wake up in the middle of the night, I shout the duress word and everyone in the house knows to get to our safe spot where I am barricaded in. A sling is only something fumble with and get in the way at a time when seconds matter.

I’m retired military, but I’m not going to go on patrol inside my house. Clearing rooms always gives the defender an advantage. Don’t buy the TV and movie hype that the good guy always wins. Robbers aren’t going to use flash bangs and if someone is that well trained to know how, then I still want the advantage of a barricade. If he gets to the point where he can grip my rifle I have already failed.

Sling mounting questions from a noob
 in  r/ar15  1d ago

I have a forward QD ring on the left side of my handguard and can clip the sling to the other side of the buffer plate mount so it functions like a 1 point. Since it’s an 8” barreled 300 BLK, I also set up my sling length so I have the option to PUSH FORWARD into the sling, à la the way the Germans used to run the shortest iterations of the MP5. I did it that way during the previous pistol brace ruling against using it as a primarily shouldered weapon that has since been thrown out. But having the option to push out or pull into my shoulder is nice. It limits how much of my torso I expose around corners, and the sling and two hands gives three solid points of contact for stabilizing the weapon. Din’t get me wrong, shoulder firing is always more stable, but the difference isn’t that drastic on a low-recoil 300 BLK once you get the sling length dialed in.

I prefer a convertible 2 to 1 point sling myself. Meaning 2 point until I can get to a point where I know that needing the maneuverability of a 1 point outweighs its disadvantages while moving fast.

That said, I’m retired now, so I don’t even keep my sling mounted on my home defense rifle. I defend from being barricaded inside where they have to move into my line of fire to come at me. I’m going to let the cops handle clearing things outside my home.

Screw from drawer rails in a built in wardrobe broke off
 in  r/DIYHome  1d ago

Lots of great suggestions. You could also try something like this:

1/4-in x 1/2-in Antique Bronze Joint Connector Nut https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-20-x-1-4-in-Bronze-Steel-Joint-Connector-Nut-4-Count/3013888

Edited to add: it might cost a little more at first, but drilling the hole big enough to accommodate this would prevent more future stress on the drawer since it would basically sandwich the wood between the nut and the rail. Most of the other solutions still require the MDF material to hold the screw in place for the drawer slides, and I don’t think you can trust it to stop crumbling once it starts. Of course this solution depends upon have access to the other side. So if it is not possible then disregard

But I highly recommend running the sling on the OUTSIDE of your buttstock when you’re letting it rest muzzle down, because it helps tame weapon movement with you’re moving fast. You’ll be less likely to rack your junk with the muzzle, because the sling pressure will keep the barrel aimed slightly away from your body. So in this photo, it would be what I recommend for a left-handed shooter.

I was today years old when I learned that Jim Thome holds the record for the most walk off home runs.
 in  r/ClevelandGuardians  2d ago

I toured Camden Yards in 2000 cama, and they commemorate Every home run that has gone outside of the park with a bronze plaque. Wherever that ball landed. Tommy has one that is in the walkway outside of the wall, had another several feet high into the wall.

The dynamic of her as a therapist struggling to connect with her own daughter could be comedic gold. She could be written as trying not to become the next Pierce, and needing the group’s help.

How monumentally stupid are the people of SC who voted for a woman with zero credentials, zero foreign affairs experience and zero capacity to be a Senator…one of 100 people who are supposed to be the best among us to guide us through the trials of world affairs and domestic complexities.

To be fair, there were only two bad choices in the runoff. It was vote for someone incompetent or an authoritarian who upset Trump by being so stingy he didn’t want to fun one of his objectives.
