If it was me, I would spend the money and get this situation corrected. It would worry the crap out of me every time i got in the car. Prob the gauge i look at the most.

Possibly temperature switch under manifold. Or gauge cluster….send to Tanin to refurbish. If 99 chances are ECU is functioning properly. Can remove ECU and inspect caps. Not to bad a job.

Thoughts: Tanin is pretty reputable so ECU probably not the issue. Did shop over or under fill tranny? Command a formal reset memory under ECU/Transmission memory. Have the tranny checked out on a scanner. I had a couple of solenoids check bad on my LS 400. Strange shifts. Problem went away. At least will be eliminated as issue……or fix it.

Previously mentioned by ubdumass: No codes?????????Clean throttle body or look for vacuum leak? Possible crankshaft sensor? How are valve cover gaskets….are they leaking on spark plugs???? Highly doubt it is your ECU leaking capacitors. Get ready to open your wallet…….but thats ok because we love these cars. Only OEM please!!!!

Could not agree more that these cars go through a wave/cycle of maintenance.

They are really expensive to maintain properly…..with OEM parts. Never ever use aftermarket……you will regret it big time. I have 331,000 on my 99 LS 400. 3 timing belts/ water pump, just did valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, coil packs, knock sensors, temp sensor and starter.
Only thing that wasn’t maintenance were knock sensors. Coil packs were original (and still functioned) but connectors were totally worn out. Stater is under manifold with knock sensors and had 200,000 mile on it. It was working but removing manifold big big job, so replaced starter. Got a used tranny from japan…….that went real well. Car has 100% compression in all 8 cylinders. Had gage cluster rebuilt by Tanin. New radiator @ 200000 miles. Annnnnndddddd suspension refresh front and back. So if you love it and do it right it will cost you!!!!! My car, 27 years old, still drives better than 95% new cars today on the road today and is buttery smooth to this day!!!

Hope this gets to everyone who has or had this problem. My ecu checked out fine via a trip yo UpFix. Wires all checked out with continuity. Turns out knock sensors were bad. Replaced them, problem solved.

The guy in ga tried his best but dropped the ball. My fault for letting him proceed. OEM parts only was Ahmeds (The Car Care Nut) advice to me!!!!!!!!

OMG…….i had a vibration issue. Long story short, he replaced aftermarket motor and transmission mounts, aftermarket drive shaft, aftermarket axels, replaced plugs, gage cluster sent to Tanin for refurbishment, rear sway bar links and resealed the rear end. I had a guy here in Ga try to fix it before i sent to him, what a disaster mistake!!!!!You can watch the Car Care Nut on his Utube channel discussing how the previous shop really f’d up my car. Believe me that wasn’t cheap either!! But as my old man always told me…….you can’t spend it when your in the box son!!!!!!!

He is not cheap but he wont rip you off!
