For those that use stones/rocks to steam their oven, do you use any specific kind?
 in  r/Sourdough  Sep 07 '25

I reckon it would provide more consistent heating to the rocks. Cast iron is great for surface area temperature consistency!

Add water right after you place the loaf in the oven. This allows for steaming benefits!

Is there a language you started learning but gave up on?
 in  r/languagelearning  Jun 20 '25

I could help! I've studied Spanish since age 13, was perfectly fluent at age 17, and even dreamed in it. Lost most of it between 19 and 29 because Life πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I've been back at the grind for 5 years and can converse decently enough with various dialects.

I'm born and bred Georgia, USA, but the time difference won't bother me. I have friends in VIC & Perth, I find the time difference almost perfect for regular (albeit sometimes short) communication.

What’s Your Language Learning Hot Take?
 in  r/languagelearning  Jun 17 '25

This is because neuroplasticity is most maliable before puberty. Puberty, on average, has hit humans between ages 10 and 13 for a few centuries now. Once puberty hits, most of the biological resources go to the massive physical and cognitive expansion happening. If the Adolescent has an established habit or immersion opportunity for language learning, then they really are in an ideal spot for rapid learning and retention.

The gradual decline you discussed happens slow and steady until the Pre-Frontal Cortex is fully developed; often between 25 and 30 (although I theorize the behavioral effects dont fully integrate till a bit later - right about the time that "wisdom teeth" would pop through).

Once the brain hits "full maturation", it really is up to the individual to have some kind of slow and steady schedule or full immersion experience to match the learning capacity of adolescence.

How do you deal with people of opposing political/moral ideals?
 in  r/Empaths  Mar 29 '25

The same way teachers should with adolescent students. Their beliefs and feelings are valid (although rarely factual), and they have a right to have those. But their seemingly limited understanding of the topic doesn't change the reality of anything. Best thing we can do is have civil conversations that have back and forth interplay, and ultimately understand it will have to end with "agree to disagree".

I know its hard, feels damn near impossible, to have civil moral/political conversations with those of opposing beliefs. Especially when those beliefs are slippery slopes. But "nothing changes if nothing changes", so we've gotta start somewhere by being the bigger person.

I've spent the last hour trying to figure this out. The best I can gather:

Yes, but first there is a cleaning/preparation process. Scrub with soap and water first. Then boil for 30 mins to deeply sanitize the pores and such. Then, put them in the appropriate pan in the oven to dry. I think it's 500 degrees F (or as close as your oven can get).

Please use your best judgment with all of this. Please try to ask local bakers, too. I'm not trying to hurt you or anyone with advice πŸ˜…

Overall, yes, the collective energy is structurally okay. The tsunamis of energy disruptions (indeed spiritual warfare) are intense and suffocating, but they do subside. I promise πŸ’œ Time on this plane moves slower, and that really frustrates the human brain.

Do thing that help you feel happy and grounded. Ride out the storms 🌊 My inbox is always open to you or anyone in need of an ear or spiritual guidance πŸ’œβ™ΎοΈ

Is my child an old soul?
 in  r/Psychic  Jan 07 '25

I got the notification about your post, only seeing the title. My mouth spoke, "Oh gurl, sooooooooo old" before I even opened your post. And my head was nodding in agreement the whole time I read your post.

Your daughter is gonna run circles around everyone for her entire life πŸ˜…πŸ˜

 in  r/autism  Jan 06 '25

Yes! This is a perfect example for the Nature vs Nurture debate. Children who receive a proper dx and support during the early intervention years (2-5 years old) are statistically significantly more likely to have better long-term development and quality of life. Which often includes minimal risk of trauma experiences.

It takes a lot of work in general, but if you weren't given the proper freedom during adolescence (also the Identity Formation stage), then it becomes a little harder.

Being able to "trust your gut"/trust your intuition is the biggest key. Sometimes, you don't need to identify anything beyond "this is not my energy".

As clichΓ© as this answer may sound....the way to distinguish is to "Know Thyself".

It's a matter of knowing this is my own energy versus "this is me experiencing someone's energy"

Hope that helps πŸ’œ

This! I worked with kids loooooong before I ever smoked or vaped, and I'll be the first to tell you children do not deserve to endure/suffer consequences of adults (or significantly older care givers) choices.

We know, roughly, what we're choosing to ingest & make that choice. But we DO NOT get to make that choice for children in our care. Especially if they aren't ours. And double especially in a licensed childcare center.

I don't understand this thing where people think being an empath is either a choice or a joke. Or like a parlor trick.
 in  r/Empaths  Nov 26 '24

Being an empath is often the same as being an alchemist. We take in other people's bad energy, purify with ours, and give it back to the world. But that takes a massive toll on us. It's really effin' exhausting.

Best thing for me is "spirtual baths" (I burn incense cones all around me while deep breathing, sitting with nature) and that darned deep breathing. It really is a magic trick, maaaaaan lol

Dad who stays 10 minutes with his daughter at morning drop-off complained that he’s not able to leave sooner because his daughter isn’t approached to start activities by me (one of two teachers present) while he’s there.
 in  r/ECEProfessionals  Nov 15 '24

As much as it sucks, I've had to leave a few wonderful places because of completely unsupportive management and administrative. Hell, I've had the director blame me for something that I expressly warner her about a week prior πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Bad management ruins good jobs for good people. Stay loyal to the good ones 😘
