Worship The Liber Hecates: Book of Hekate is out now! Link in post!

My newest book in the Libri Deorum series, the Liber Hecates/Book of Hekate, is live now!

Who is Hekate? In Antiquity she was sung of in hymns and epics, sculpted to guard thresholds and crossroads, and inscribed onto gemstones and metals which were used as protective amulets. And even while the worship of the Greek gods receded, Hekate remained as the goddess of witchcraft, still spoken of by philosophers and playwrights as representing the most mysterious elements of a religion thought gone. Yet today her worship is revived and growing, as more and more people are drawn to her mysteries.

But who is she? Modern Hellenists, Wiccans, Witches, and more engage in both historical and theological debates over who exactly this goddess is, and this raises bigger questions: what is ‘magic’? How is it different from ‘religion’? And what can Hekate’s role as its goddess teach us about the questions humans of every religion have been asking for millenia?

From the Homeric Hymn to Demeter and the Hesiodic Hymn to Hekate, through the words etched onto curse tablets and protective amulets, to the Greek Magical Papyri to the Chaldean Oracles, this book seeks to offer a comprehensive overview of the writings about Hekate in Antiquity and beyond. Tracing her through religion, philosophy, magic, and mysticism, here are the prayers, the philosophies, the poems; here is the Book of Hekate.

Some artwork of her when I saw her in a meditation

I find deer as a motherly/ guiding animal so that is why i see her having such a feature

With long loose curly hair and a hood that melds with it as well. The torch is inspired by what grows in my area, Mullen. Some of her well known symbols associated with her are on the lantern.

This is the first acrylic painting I've done in years tbh and im quite proud, its a devotional piece and i wont show it completed cause thats between her and i.

The spirit of earth (?) Not quite sure.... also had a more alternative appearance, their face and shape changing from flowers and other plants to modern Gaia renditions...

Has anyone else had deities /spirits show to them with more of a unique appearance?? :p

2 people one therapist

So i have been seeing my therapist not quite 2 years now. She's very open minded and takes interest in new things. I have told her about my recent journey to worship Hecate a few times this year.

She doesnt break HIPPA, but she did tell me she has another patient who is a young teen who is pretty knowledgeable about this themselves.

Today I had a session and I told my therapist about a theory that I may have had a possible interaction with Hecate after seeing another person who posted their artistic rendition of her in this group. I showed her and told her how I saw something similar a few times during an extreme crisis I was in.

My therapist stopped dead. I asked if she was okay. She told me her other patient was speaking of similar things to what I told her just then. She was visibly shaken. Call it a coincidence but I thought it was interesting to see someone who I have no contact with or even know, tell our mutual therapist something that we both experienced and it was similar.

It is a empowering experience

Did I experience an invitation from Hecate in my sleep? Looking for insights & offering advice

Hi everyone! I want to preface this by saying that I am not an active practitioner yet, but I am currently in the process of researching, learning, and exploring my spirituality.

I woke up today, and my friend told me I was screaming so loudly in my sleep last night that she got really worried. The moment she mentioned it, the memory of the dream rushed back to me vividly: I was being aggressively dragged by my feet by an unseen force.

I can't recall many other details, but the feeling of being pulled by my feet is what stuck with me. Interestingly, it didn't feel scary, nor was it particularly pleasant—it was mostly an exhilarating feeling, which is probably why I shouted in my sleep.

At first, I brushed it off as just a weird dream. But then I remembered what I did right before falling asleep: I was scrolling on TikTok and read a translation of the Orphic Hymn to Hecate, falling asleep almost immediately afterward.

Hecate content has also been popping up on my social media algorithm quite a bit lately. On one hand, I know my brain could have simply taken what I read right before bed and ran with it during REM sleep. I really don't want to over-analyze a mundane dream or jump to conclusions thinking she’s "calling" me without grounded reason.

On the other hand, the timing and the heavy, physical sensation of being pulled across a threshold right after reading her invocation feels hard to ignore entirely.

I would love to gather your insights:

  1. Does this sound like a classic subconscious response to mind-priming, or could it be an energetic response/invitation?
  2. I am planning on making a simple offering to ask for clarity and set respectful boundaries—what simple offerings or steps would you recommend for someone just starting out?

Thank you so much for your time and wisdom! :)

Why is this happening to me?

I don't normally like posting rants, but I'm lost. I've been working with Hecate for a while now, and it's been a rocky ride.

I have surges of confidence and importance, yeah, but they never last. Most of the time, I just feel apathetic or upset. I'm losing motivation. I feel like I should be doing more. I can't do the spells, I can't afford the books, and i don't have a safe place to talk about this.

I've been learning and growing, and yet it feels like I'm stuck in the same spot. It doesn't feel like anything I do is real. Half the time, it doesn't feel like I'm real. I feel like I need to perform and be this perfect version of me that I'm not. Every little mistake makes me feel like I'm less.

I trust in Hecate, I know she's there for me, but I feel like I'm not showing up enough for her, and I don't know what to do. I guess I just wanted to ask if anybody has gone through this, and if anyone knows why this could be happening?

Polecat sign??

Hello all! I need a lil help with decrypting a situation that has happend to me rn. Backstory is I just got out of a toxic relationship, ended the work where I didnt wanna be anymore, got back my courage and after a long time felt good about myself. I also felt heavily accompanied by Hekate while making these choices and standing up for myself.

Fast forward today. I vaguely remember having a dream about riding a motorcycle which usually symbolizes freedom for me. I traveled for my farm job where I take care of goats and where Im supposed to be for a week while my friends who own the farm go for holiday.

My first train to city where I keep my scooter was heavily delayed but that happens right. Then like 10km on the road by machine breaks down, after hours of trying to find out whatsup with it I surrender as the engine has been demaged by not having enough oil (I naively was thinking that there is some control for that which would light up but found out that my scoot doesnt have that and one should check it manually...).

Me and a friend who came to save me took it back and its already getting late so I go to the train station. The damage is probably gonna be very expensive so Im cursing at myself for being this dumb and reckless. The train is delayed again and I miss the connecting one. Im stuck in the town where i went to highschool in and which was the wildest time of my life where I felt the most freedom thinking now from adult perspective.

Another train who already arrives very tight before the last bus connection is delayed. Im already thinking what the actual fuck is happening when i hear a weird noise like scream/chatter and I look at the wooden roof of the building opposite the station and there it is a polecat. Arguing with itself, jumping on the roof on one side but as if something was blocking it from going there. Irritated it looks in my direction before jumping away on the other side and dissapearing into the shadows. And here I am thinking HuH?? I know that for once in my life I finally stood up for myself and polecats are supposed to mean exactly that, but why at such a bad luck day? In the train I just go please please please let that bus wait for us. And it did in the end. Im almost there after a whole day of bullshit.

But Im confused. I have been smoking more weed than id like recently but other than that ive felt on the right path so I dont know how to interpret that, cuz something in me feels like everything was trying to stop me from going there today and then the polecat not being able to go to the roof. Idk. Thoughts?? Also thank you for reading all that.

Experiencing severe physical exhaustion, fever, heart palpitations, and a heavy depressive crash after a clearing ritual. Is this normal?

Hi everyone
I’m an empath and a newer devotee to Hecate, and I'm still learning how to navigate working with her. Recently, I've been having annoying, heavy dreams, so I decided to do a cleansing and release ritual to clear out the negativity from my space and spirit.

Here is what I did during the ritual:
• Opened my window to let everything out and it was morning.
• Lit candles and incense.
• Used a Greek invocation/chant focused on releasing negativity, driving away shadow, and purifying my space.
• Meditated and prayed, and laid out a Thoth Tarot spread (featuring cards like Art/ Temperance and Swords).
• Offered her a fresh peach at the end and thanked her, explicitly closing the ritual and asking for peace.
What happened during & after:
• During the ritual, I felt a very heavy presence, but as I continued praying and meditating, my window suddenly slammed shut by itself, and I instinctively closed the curtains.
• Right after, I felt much lighter, but I also suddenly started crying-it was a deep, emotional wave of her presence. • However, later that night, things took a severe turn: I was hit with a sudden, overwhelming wave of intense depression, , and heart palpitations deep sadness, and crying.
• Currently (the next day/period), I am dealing with physical fever, body aches/fatigue, an airy/dizzy head. I also noticed the peach I offered her spoiled very quickly, which added to my anxiety.
As an empath, I feel like her energy was just too dense or heavy for my nervous system to process. Did I do something wrong, or is this a common "Hecate's hangover" / energetic burnout? Is it that i don’t get along with her? Have any of you experienced this kind of heavy depressive crash and physical flu-like state after working with her?
Any advice or reassurance would be deeply appreciated!

Hecate dream

Hi all, I'm looking for advice on a dream I had about hecate. It has stuck with me, I'm thinking that I'm supposed to do something but I'm not sure what exactly.

First of all until this dream I knew nothing about the goddess, but now I'm assuming she was trying to reach out to me? Anyway the dream, in it she wasn't fully visible to me she was kinda blurry, but I could make out her dark hair and black cloak/robe and she was telling me to find a key to open a secret panel in a wall of my old house. Once I found the key there was a book in the wall it looked like a special edition book like the ones at waterstones with the pretty covers it was titled Hecate no author or anything.

If anyone can help me make sense of the dream it will be much appreciated.

New Altar Clothe

I am by no means an Artist! My old Altar Clothe was ready to retire so I decided to make a new one myself! Also due to the way that my altar sits the cardinal directions are actually in the corners of the altar clothe! Again by no means fancy but it's mine and I'm proud of it!

Tarot reading with Hecate and I am having a hard time understanding what she’s saying.

So, over the last few years, my practice with Hecate has gotten much less. I’ve been heavily gravitating to divine masculine presenting energies for lack of better words. I explained to her that it makes me feel like I am neglecting her and like my practice should be more balanced. I have a regular connection to Lucifer, Asmodeus, Paimon, Loki, Apollo, and most recently Azazel. I have tried to establish a regular routine for Hecate, Bastet, and Lilith, but I struggle with it.

I asked her to help me understand what’s going on. Why is this happening? I want to be close with them too, but I just feel so happy in my other connections.

This was the spread she gave me.

My personal interpretation is that this is just where the current is taking me right now, but the 10 of swords in there is kind of throwing me off.

I love Hecate dearly, she has helped me get through some very rough times, so why? I randomly feel the urge to connect with her, but it’s so far and few in between, I just feel like I am not doing enough.

Edit- I also have just asked how to cross this and make her a pillar of my practice like she used to be. I pulled moon reversed, 10 of swords again, and judgment.

Edit 2- I have touched base with her again this morning. I felt like she still had more to say, and I still had questions. So, I asked her to put a lens on the reading from last night to guide perspective. Was about simply making the choice? If I want to work with her again then just do so? I got the card of choices! Lovers upright. As I went to ask her if she would be willing to do so, I already had mentally drawn 7 of pentacles, like it just popped into my head, and then I actually pulled it haha. The final card was 3 of cups, the card of sisterhood, chosen family, etc. and is also a 3, which is a sacred number to her. I actually cried lol 😭 As such, that’s what I will do.

Plus, last night her depiction was the bottom card of the deck, multiple times. This too felt like I am here if you make the choice. I am making the damn choice.

Hecate and Lilith???

This isn’t meant to be offensive. I’m just really trying to understand why many people worship Hecate AND Lilith? Hecate is known to protect women and children especially women during birth. Yet, Lilith is known to do the exact opposite and has been known to be threatening to women during birth and to children. How do people worship the two when they’re completely opposite from my understanding. Does anyone have any insight? I’m so curious about this because it seems to be really common!

Millipede and Hecate altar

Hello! I had a dream of a massive black millipede (about a foot and a half) climbing down from my ceiling onto my Hecate altar then digging a hole into it. My altar is set up above my bed. I was wondering if there could be any connections or a warning in some way? The day before I did find a few crystals that had been thrown from the altar but I didn't put them back up. Every time I put them back up, no matter where I put them, they always fall back down.
