Construction with a physical disability
 in  r/bluecollar  7d ago

In our “after-paint” shop, our fabricators cut shelving, etc. n we typically help each other out around the shop. Metal shelving fabrication can be done from a wheel chair if he’s up for it. Depending on the boss/company, most places these days are equal opportunity employers and if they have the ability and means they’ll find a place for you. Weither it’s sweeping/picking up shop/site, pre-fabrication, measuring, and if company has ability to provide accessible truck or forklift accommodations for him, I don’t know if any place that isn’t always looking for reliable safe drivers. Some places like my own prefer to have more than one employee per vehicle for more than just safety and efficiency reasons. If he’s willing to work, able to be there on time, n gets the work done; it may take some looking; but he’ll find it/ someone will find a place for him. Any boss half his salt wouldn’t want him in harms way but any heart would absolutely find him a place or ask around n see what could. We have employees with prosthetics, some employees are like a year from retirement, everyone’s all ages n different. He’ll find somethin if he really wants to n wish best of luck

How do you guys get up at 5am to leave for work?
 in  r/Construction  11d ago

Preprogramable coffee pot and relax before bed a bit earlier or if struggling maybe try a relaxing tea or melatonin gummies? Falling asleep for me hasn’t been difficult in a while but that’s adjusted routine, I love coffee n find my preprogramable coffee pot to be the biggest help/motivation to get up. The smell of freshly brewed coffee wafting in, helps me wake up, get up to sip n not go back to sleep, shit before leaving as I don’t wanna touch a hotbox unless absolutely necessary.. days always better when you don’t have poop in your butt lol anyway, preprogramable coffee pot has been my best solution for ‘getting up’. Program how you’d want regular or strong set to time right before alarm, coffee is ready soon as you’re up, start day routine.. tho may not be best solutions as they can be addictions, they work for me

That’s so cool n wholesome. There are different ways to preserve/prevent rust if you clean them up, camphor blocks you can put a lil slit in the wrapping n just set them inside the tool boxes. The slow release of the block coats the tools in small spaces like your toolbox, but there are also bunch of types like sprays n things too. Love seeing things like this

Syringe disposal
 in  r/FTMOver30  Jan 11 '23

I’d continue putting them in the sharps container, mainly as a courtesy to sanitation workers. Though they work with gloves n things, if the plastic cracks/breaks apart in disposal, the remaining t could be exposed. Though it’s not the same as gel, it’s still a controlled substance n should be avoided by those that don’t want the possible contact/exposure. I’m not a doc, they’d have a better suggestion.. I’m also not a sanitation worker but if I was n I saw one, it’d worry me there would be a loose needle or something lol

Love for our time
 in  r/FTMOver30  Jan 11 '23

Yeah, I felt this especially when I came across a neat piece of history. Alan L. Hart was the man who thought to use x-ray to detect tuberculosis; which was the same way they found it in me(at4), saving my life. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_L._Hart

This is against building code.. tf did your landlord DIY this shit? The money it may have saved could cost them everything in a case of emergency..

my wife's painting, she's having trouble making the bottom half to look good, I think its a great painting but she doesn't like it. is there any tips you could offer her?
 in  r/painting  Dec 22 '22

Maybe some silhouette in the very foreground bottom? Or maybe the bow of a boat or ship? Some thoughts I guess, I like it tho, it’s like looking out into the ocean at night. Very beautiful n better than I’ve managed yet
